Synesso,Incand/oryourDistributorwarrantstotheoriginalpurchaserthatSynessoespressomachinesare
freefromdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanshipundernormaluseandservicefortheperiodcommencing
uponthedateofshippingandconnuingfor12monthsfromtheoriginaldateofshipment.Synessowill
makeagoodfaitheffortforpromptcorreconorotheradjustmentwithrespecttoanynonwearingpart
thatprovestobedefecvewithinthelimitedwarrantyperiod.ThisLimitedWarrantyiscondionalupon
properuseofthemachinebythepurchaser.
ThisLimitedWarrantydoesnotcoverdefectsordamageresulngfrom:accident,misuse,abuse,shipping
damage,neglect,unusualphysical,electricalorelectromechanicalstress,unauthorizedcustomermodifica‐
onsorimproperwaterfiltraon.
Proper water filtraon and regular filter changes are a requirement to keep your factory warranty valid
and your machine funconing properly.Itishighlyrecommendedthatyoucontactaprofessionalwater
filtraonspecialistinyourareaandhaveyourwatertestedtodeterminetheproperfiltraonsystem.Itis
importanttonotethatmanymunicipalieschangetheirwatersourcesthroughouttheyear,soaddional
watertestsmaybecomenecessary.
Water Standards to keep your warranty valid:
In Synesso’s experience, Everpure Claris and Cirqua formulator systems can produce a re‐
sult that can damage the Synesso stainless steel tanks. Use of either system is highly dis‐
couraged and will void the water related parts of the machine warranty.
AnypartwhichisdeterminedtobedefecveinmaterialsorworkmanshipshouldbereturnedtoSynessoor
toanauthorizedservicelocaon,shippingcostsprepaid,asSynessodesignates.Synessomayrepairorre‐
placetheproductorpartwithneworfactoryrefurbishedequipmentatSynesso’ssolediscreon.Ifthe
productorpartisdeterminedtobedefecveandincompliancewiththeLimitedWarrantycondions,the
replacementpartorproductwillbereturnedtothepurchaserwithshippingprepaid**.
Manyjurisdiconshavecodesandregulaonsgoverningsales,construcon,installaon,and/oruseof

extendbeyondtheproductitself.Synesso’sliabilityofconsequenal,incidentaldamages,indirectordirect
damagesforpersonalinjury,inabilitytoproperlyusethisproduct,lossofbusinessprofitsorinterruponto

To maintain the 1 year warranty, an authorized or cerfied espresso service representave
must perform the installaon of this espresso machine.

tainingaminimumof300lbs.
Thecountertoprequiresadepthof28”,whichprovidesaminimumclearanceof1”behindand3”infront
ofthemachine.
Makea2½”minimumdiameterholethroughthecountertoplocated4”fromtherearand7”fromtheright
sideofthemachine.Thehoses,draintube,andelectricallineswillallpassthroughthishole.
A3/8”min.diametercoldwatersupplylinefromthefilterwithashutoffvalveisrequiredwithin5’ofthe
machine.Thevalveshouldbeeasilyaccessedformachineservice.
Themachinesupplyhoseandpumpfingsare3/8”tubecompressionfings.
Aproperwaterfiltraonorsoeningsystemmustbeinstalledontheincomingwatersupply.Watertreat‐
mentrequirementswillvary,anditisimportanttouseasystemdesignedtomatchtheneedsofyourspe‐
cificarea.Waterfiltraonsystemsrequireperiodicmaintenance,includingcartridgeorfilterreplacement.
Properfiltraonandserviceisvitaltothefunconofthemachineandthequalityoftheespressoserved.

Theremustbeadequateroomunderthecountertolocateeachmotorandpump.Thepumpsmustbeeasily
accessibleforadjustmentandmotorsmusthaveaminimumof3”clearanceonallsidesforairflow.
Afloordrainorsinkmustbeavailable.Thebestlocaonisdirectlyunderthemachine.The3/4”drainhose
shoulddescendasvercallyaspossibleforopmaldrainage.Anairgapisrequiredbetweentheendofthe
drainhoseandthehighestwaterposionofacloggeddrain.Thisistopreventthepossibilityofdrainwater
backingupintothemachine.

WhenremovingtheLowerSidePanelfromtheespressomachine:
Loosenthe2sidepanelmounngbolts,butdonotremove.
RemovetheThumbScrewfromthedraintray
Pushthepaneltothebackofthemachinewhileliingslightlyup
Thisallowstheusereasyaccesstothedrainbox&allowsthetechnicianeasyaccesstoallwatercontrol
valvesonthewaterinlet(right)sideandtothelevelprobesandthermalswitchesontheleside.
Forthetechniciantoaccessthesteamvalve,theUpperPanelmustberemoved.
WhenremovingtheUpperPanelfromtheespressomachine:
Removethe2sidepanelmounngboltscompletely.
Eachboltisthreadedintoaplatefastenerinsidetheframe.Be careful not to lose the fasteners.
TheSafariRackissuspendedby,butnotthreadedonto,shortboltsoneachsidepanel.*The Safari
Rack needs to be supported while removing the Upper Panel.

Usingtheprovidedstainlesssteelbraidedhose,connectthepumptotheshutoffvalveonthefilteredcold
waterline.Fingsonthehosesandpumpsare3/8”tubecompression.ThreadsealantorTeflontapeis
notnecessary.Makeconneconssnug,butdonotoverghten.
TurnincomingwaterONandcheckforleaks.
Synesso™machinesrequireaminimumof50PSI(3.5bar)oflinepressureat30gal(120L)perhourtohave

intheelectronicsboxacrossthemainpowerIN.To avoid an electric shock from the charge held in the ca‐
pacitor, unplug the cord, taking care to NOT touch the metal prongs on the plug end. Turn the electronics
ON/OFF red rocker switch to the ON posion and wait a few seconds unl the red switch “goes dark.” At
that point, the electrical charge has dissipated.

lowthecolorcodingforproperinstallaonofthehosesfromtheoutputofeachpumptothemachine.

Start‐Up Instrucons
1.Tofillthemachine,connectthewaterlines,connectthedrainhoseandturnthewaterON.
2.SwitchtheredelectronicsOn/OffswitchtoON.Thisacvatesthemachine’swaterauto‐fillfeaturefor
thesteamtankandtheelectronics,butNOTtheheangelements.
3.Thewaterlevelsightglassforthesteamtankislocatedontherightsideofthemachine.Asthetankfills,
thewaterlevelwillriseinthesightglassandwillautomacallystopwhenthepresetlevelisreached.
4.Bleedthegroupheadsofair:
HoldeachbrewgrouphandleleunlthecorrespondingdisplayreadsM:shieachgroupheadhandle
lemomentarily,(seepicturesbelow)allowthegrouptorununlthereisasteadyflowofwater.Shi
eachgroupheadrighttoturnoff.
5.Waitunlthesteamtankhasstoppedfillingandthelevelinthesightglassreadsatleast½full.Turnthe

1.Forbestresults,usefreshcoffee.Groundcoffeeshouldbebrewedassoonaspossibleaergrinding.
2.Selectthecorrectspoutandbasketconfiguraon.Single,doubleandboomlessportafiltersareavailable
throughSynesso™.Thesinglespoutportafilterisusedwithasingle(7g)baskettobrewasingleshot.The
doublespoutedorboomlessportafilterscanbeusedwithdouble(14g)ortriple(18gor21g)basketsto
brewtriple,double,or2singleshotsofespresso.
3.Filltheportafilterbasketjustabovelevelandwipeofftheexcess.
4.Pressstraightdownevenlyontopofthegroundswiththetamper.

Milk Steaming
1.Fillthepitcherhalfwaywithfresh,coldmilk.Smallerpitchersarerecommendedfordrinksizeslessthan
10oz.steamed,unusedmilkshouldbediscarded.
2.Condensaoncancollectinsidethewand.Acvatethesteamhandletoblowthewandclearbefore
steamingmilk.
3.Insertthepofthesteamwanddeepintothemilkpitcher.Thiswillpreventmilkfromsplashingoncethe
steamisturnedon.
4.Openthesteamvalvebypullingthehandletowardsyou.
5.Placeonehandonthesideofthesteampitchertofeeltherisingtemperatureofthemilk.
6.Asthemilkagitatesandheats,lowerthepitchertokeepthepofthesteamwandclosertothesurface.
Allowthesteamjetstopushsomeairbeneaththesurface,thenraisethepitchertolowerthepofthe
wanddeeperintothemilk.Thiswillconnuetheheangprocessandminimizefurtherfoaming.Donot
touchthesteamwandtotheboomofthemilkpitcher;thiscancreateaninaccuratetemperaturemeas‐
urement.
7.Heatmilktoapproximately150Fto170F(65°Cto76°C).Ifyouareusingyourhandtohelpdeterminethe
temperature,itwillfeelaboutashotasyoucanstandwithoutburningyourself.Milkthermometersarealso
anexcellentwaytodeterminethetemperatureofthemilk.
Cauon: Do not overheat the milk and scald it. Scalded milk should not be used.
8.Removethewandfromthemilk,purgewithsteam,andwipecleanimmediatelyaereachuse.
NOTE: AlthoughSynesso™steamwandsaremadewithaproprietarydouble‐walledprocessthathelpsto
keeptheouterwallcooler,thepandbasecanbecomeveryhotandcauonmustbeused.

To change sengs on these screens, first press the line buon on the leside of the display associated
with the seng you wish to change. The value will flash once selected. Press the up or down buons unl
the desired value is displayed. Press the line buon again to confirm the change. The value will stop flash‐
ing. Use this procedure to change any variables in the controller menus.
