MD-EM1
Introduct on::
Thank yo for p rchasing this T2 mod lator. T2 is the
brainchild of some of the most experienced professionals
in the c stom installation and home entertainment
ind stries. Please read thro gh this owner’s man al
so that yo will know how to operate yo r MD-EM1
properly. Always keep this man al in a safe place for
f t re reference.
The MD-EM1 is a digitally t ned, d al sideband, single
channel mod lator. It is designed to be mo nted in most
UL listed str ct red cable enclos res. It converts one
independent base band video and a dio signal to a
ser-selected UHF or CATV channel. Any TV connected
to the RF o tp t can receive the signal, provided that
the TV is t ned to the proper channel.
1
The diagram below shows how the MD-EM1 wo ld fit into
a typical RF system. See fig 1.

Features::
The MD-EM1 is a d al sideband mod lator. When
mod lating, be s re to leave one channel open after the
channel that yo are mod lating to. For example, if yo
wanted to mod late onto channel 22, channels 22 and 23
need to be open, even tho gh nothing will be seen on
channel 23.
V deo Input Modulat on::
The MD-EM1 has adj stable video inp t mod lation.
The LED is set to light when the mod lation inp t level
reaches 87.5%. To effectively set the video inp t
mod lation level, rotate the knob slowly clockwise
ntil the LED becomes lit. Then, rotate it slightly
co nter-clockwise, ntil the LED goes off, for
optimal res lts. See fig. 2a.

V deo Present Relay::
Yo r MD-EM1 comes eq ipped with a video present relay.
This can be connected directly to an a/v control system.
This contact is normally closed, and opens pon detection
of a video signal. See fig. 3a.
Loop Through Outputs::
Video can be fed to yo r MD-EM1 thro gh standard
composite cables or thro gh S-video cables. There are
also loop thro gh o tp ts which enable yo to connect the
so rce inp t to another device. When sing the loop
thro gh o tp ts, be s re to change the resistance switch
to "1K Ω." See fig. 3b.
