Selecting fine audio equipment such as the unit
you’ve just purchased is only the start of your
musical enjoyment. Now it’s time to consider how
you can maximize the fun and excitement your
equipment offers. This manufacturer and the
Electronic Industries Association’s Consumer
Electronics Group want you to get the most out of
your equipment by playing it at a safe level. One that
lets the sound come through loud and clear without
annoying blaring or distortion-and, most importantly,
without affecting your sensitive hearing.
Sound can be deceiving. Over time your hearing
“comfort level” adapts to higher volumes of sound.
So what sounds “normal” can actually be loud and
harmful to your hearing. Guard against this by
setting your equipment at a safe level BEFORE your
hearing adapts.
To establish a safe level:
• Start your volume control at a low setting.
• Slowly increase the sound until you can hear it
comfortably and clearly, and without distortion.
Once you have established a comfortable sound
level:
• Set the dial and leave it there.
Taking a minute to do this now will help to prevent
hearing damage or loss in the future. After all, we
want you listening for a lifetime.
We Want You Listening For A Lifetime
Used wisely, your new sound equipment will
provide a lifetime of fun and enjoyment. Since
hearing damage from loud noise is often
undetectable until it is too late, this manufacturer
and the Electronic Industries Association’s
Consumer Electronics Group recommend you avoid
prolonged exposure to excessive noise. This list of
sound levels is included for your protection.

PRECAUTIONS IN USE
Installation Location
For installation, select a stable location near the television•
or stereo system with which the unit will be used.
Do not set the TAD-D600 on top of a television or color•
monitor. Also, separate the TAD-D600 from a cassette
deck or any other component susceptible to magnetic
influence.
To ensure long product life, avoid installing this
unit in the following locations:
Locations exposed to direct sunlight.•
Humid or poorly ventilated areas.•
Areas of extreme temperatures.•
Areas with vibration.•
Dusty or smoky areas.•
Areas exposed to grease fumes, steam or heat•
(such as a kitchen).
Do not place objects on top of the unit
Do not place objects on top of the TAD-D600
To prevent adverse affects of heat
Do not install the TAD-D600 on top of amplifiers or other
components that generate heat. When installing in a rack,
try by all means to install the TAD-D600 in a position below
amplifiers or other components that generate heat.
Turn off power when not in use
Depending on the signal condition of television broadcasts,
if the television is turned on when the TAD-D600 is already
on, a noise may appear on the television screen. Audible
noise may likewise occur when listening to the radio when
TAD-D600 is already turned on. This phenomenon does not
indicate a malfunction of either the television, radio tuner,
or the TAD-D600. In this event, turn off the power to the
TAD-D600.
Moving the TAD-D600
If you must move the TAD-D600, first remove any disc loaded
and close the disc tray. Press the DISC PLAYER button
so that the [-OFF-] indicator in the display goes out, then
unplug the power cord. Never move the unit with a disc
loaded, since damage may result.
Caution for when the unit is installed in a rack
with a glass door
Do not press the hOPEN/CLOSE on the remote control to
open the disc tray while the glass door is closed. The door
will hamper the movement of the disc tray, and the unit
could be damaged.
Maintenance
For everyday cleaning of the TAD-D600, wipe lightly with the
provided polishing cloth (dry). If the surface is extremely
dirty, wipe with a soft cloth dipped in neutral cleanser diluted
five to six times with water and wrung out well. Do not use
volatile chemicals such as paint thinner or benzenes, as
these may corrode the surface of the panels. Do not use
sprays such as insecticides around the TAD-D600. If you plan
on using a chemical cleaning cloth, read the precautionary
statements of the chemical cleaning cloth before using.
Regarding condensation
During the winter or cool seasons, condensation may form
inside the player if it is brought into a warm room from
outside or other cold location, or if the temperature of the
room where the player is installed is raised too quickly.
When condensation forms inside the player, it may not
operate properly or at all. In this event, turn on the unit’s
power and allow it to stand for 1 to 2 hours so that the
condensation evaporates as the player acclimatizes to the
room’s temperature, and the unit will become playable
again. Condensation may also form in the summer if a
room’s air conditioner is directed directly at the TAD-D600.
In this event, change the location of the player away from the
airstream of the air conditioner.

INTRODUCTION
Inspiring the joy of listening
Technical Audio Devices Laboratories, Inc. (TADL) grew from the spirit to discover technologies to perfectly recreate the pure
sound of live performances with uncompromising craftsmanship. We have inherited our philosophy from Bart Locanthi—
recognized across the globe as the ultimate sound technologist—who believed that genuine technology is true to the basics
and that genuine technology places greater importance on sound quality than on technology for its own sake.
At TADL, we are honing our technology to create equipment that reproduces musical sounds that evoke both the energy and
impact of live music.
Features
Ultra-high C/N* ratio Master Clock featuring UPCG**
Reduction of the total amount of master clock jitter has been previously suggested as a means of attaining even higher levels
of sound quality, TAD Labs has taken this a step further, focusing on reduction of jitter in the low-frequency sideband ranges
relative to the center frequencies, and to that end, a new Ultra-high-Precision Crystal Generator (UPCG) has been developed.
Based on technologies developed for high-speed digital base-station relay facilities, the master clock with its dedicated
oscillators and high-purity conductivity deliver the ultimate performance demanded by a CD player, allowing it to reproduce
to perfection the signals engraved on the disc.
*C/N: Carrier-to-Noise ratio
**UPCG: Ultra-high-Precision Crystal Generator
Twin Differential D/A Converters
Twin Burr-Brown digital-audio converters (192 kHz/24 bit) are connected in parallel for improved audio performance in all
metrics, including S/N ratio, linearity, dynamic range, and distortion. These features allow even delicate audio signals to be
played back faithfully, creating a greater degree of breadth in musical reproduction.
Independent Power Supply
The TAD-D600 features a power unit housed independently from the CD player itself. By separating the two assemblies in this
way, the harmful affects of extraneous vibration and magnetic flux leakage from the power unit are eliminated.
Further, the audio and digital sections feature independent toroidal transformers with super-powerful 400 VA performance (on
a par with the performance found in a power amp), producing the high response necessary to follow virtually any signal, and
achieving both high power and low noise.
High-Rigidity Construction with Low Center of Gravity
In order to suppress the deleterious influence of external vibrations, a highly rigid cast-aluminum chassis with three-point
suspension has been introduced. Placement of the massive heavy base has been designed to lower the center of gravity,
thus further reducing vibrations. These design elements have made it possible to reproduce music signals with great stability
while avoiding the vibration caused by speaker pressure and other sources.
DAC Mode
With its high-precision D/A converters and high-purity master clock oscillators, the TAD-D600 demonstrates equally high
performance as a D/A converter unit. A sampling rate converter and ultra-high C/N master clock for reclocking make possible
high-precision conversion.

Taking care of your player and discs
General
Hold discs by the edge or by the center hole and edge.
'
When you’re not using a disc, return it to its case and store upright. Avoid leaving discs in excessively
'
cold, humid, or hot environments (including under direct sunlight).
Don’t glue paper or put stickers on to discs. Do not use a pencil, ball-point pen or other sharp-tipped writing instrument to
'
write on the disc.
Don’t use self-adhesive disc labels on discs as these can cause the disc to warp slightly during playback
'
causing distortion in the sound.
Damaged and shaped discs
Do not use cracked, chipped, warped, or otherwise damaged discs as they may damage the player.
'
This player is designed to be used only with conventional, fully circular discs. Do not use shaped discs.
'
TAD disclaims all liability arising in connection with the use of shaped discs.
Cleaning discs
Fingerprints and dust on discs can affect playback performance. Clean using a soft, dry cloth, wiping the
'
disc lightly from the center to the outside edge as shown below.
If necessary, use a cloth soaked in alcohol, or a commercially available CD/DVD cleaning kit to clean a disc more
'
thoroughly. Never use benzine, thinner or other cleaning agents, including products designed for cleaning vinyl records.
Cleaning the pickup lens
The player’s lens should not become dirty in normal use, but if for some reason it should malfunction due to dust or dirt,
'
consult your dealer. We do not recommend using commercially available lens cleaners for CD players.
Always load discs
with the printed or
label surface facing up.
