1) Unpacking list
Please take care when unpacking your turntable to make sure that all items listed as
follows are present.
1. User manual
2. Turntable unit complete with tonearm (and cartridge when purchased as a package)
3. Z-type dust cover
4. AC plug top power supply
5. Pair of phono cables
6. Drive belt
7. Cartridge alignment protractor (NOT supplied when purchased as a package)
8. Tonearm counterweight
9. 1.5mm and 2.5mm allen key (2mm allen key supplied when purchased as a package)
10. Tracking force spacer (supplied when purchased as a package)
11. Platter
12. Hub
13. Earth lead
Please note that you will require a stylus force tracking gauge to set the tracking
force. If you have purchased your turntable as a package and do not have a stylus
force tracking gauge, a spacer has been supplied to help get you going. This can be
held between the bell housing and the front face of the counterweight to approximate
the tracking force.

2) Setup
First ensure that you have a at surface to place your packaged turntable box and
enough space to unpack its content. DO NOT attempt to lift the turntable from the
box without rst removing the packaging in accordance with the following instruction.
Remember to retain the box and its packaging for transporting your turntable in
future.
First open the box from the top. The AC plug top power supply, pair of phono cables
and the tonearm counterweight are located in the top foam piece. Remove these items
and place them carefully to one side. Similarly, remove the belt and platter from the
next foam piece. The next layer of foam is a spacer to protect the top side of the z-
type dust cover. This foam spacer can likewise be removed with the z-type dust cover.
Next remove the foam piece located on the hub. The turntable unit with attached
earth lead and hub can be lifted from the box in its polythene bag onto a clear at
surface.
Next remove the turntable from its polythene bag and check that the label on the
underside of the turntable corresponds with the local AC power supply. Also check that
the AC power supply is the correct type for your local outlet sockets. Please contact
your authorised Edwards Audio dealer immediately if you require a replacement AC
power supply.
Your turntable has been pre-assembled. Remove the piece of cardboard from the
underside of the hub. Next place the belt around the pulley and guide it over the hub -
it may help to rotate the hub. Be careful not to stretch the belt as this may cause it to
break. The platter can then be placed and located securely over the spindle of the
hub.
Lastly, if your turntable was supplied with a tted cartridge, the tracking weight will
need to be set using the counterweight (see Page 9 for information on ‘Setting the
tracking weight’). If your turntable has not been supplied with a tted cartridge, see
Page 7 for a step-by-step guide on ‘Arm cartridge set-up’.
Edwards Audio turntables are not supplied with a mat as this in our opinion impairs
sound quality. Remember to consider the surface on which you place your turntable as
this will aect its performance. An isolation platform can greatly enhance the
performance of your turntable. Generally, a surface made from wood will be better
than harder surfaces such as glass or stone. Wall mounts can also help if you have a
wooden oor on joists.

3) Connections
Plug your turntable into a suitable AC mains outlet socket (having already checked
that the voltage of your local electricity supply matches the label on the underside of
your turntable). The use of an after market lter or dedicated turntable power supply
will improve performance quite dramatically and are highly recommended.

Next, plug the two RCA phono plugs into the audio output sockets on the rear of your
turntable and connect the supplied earth lead at the ring end to the metal post (by
undoing the nut on the metal post completely).
You can then plug the other end of the phono cable into your amplier (if it has a
phono stage tted) or your outboard phono stage (depending on the type of cartridge
you have tted) together with the fork end of your earth lead. If you do not have
phono stage or phono input in your amplier, you will need one in order to use your
turntable. Please contact your authorised Edwards Audio dealer for assistance with
your purchase.
4) Adjustments
4.1) Arm cartridge set-up
Your authorised Edwards Audio dealer may have tted a cartridge for you, in which
case you can skip this section and see Page 6 for information on ‘Setting the tracking
weight’. Fitting a cartridge can be quite dicult, especially if you have not done it
before. This step-by-step guide will help ensure that you t your cartridge correctly.
Required tools: You will require a long nosed pair of pliers or better, a pair of round
nosed pliers and a suitable 2mm allen key to tighten the mounting bolts.
TT/2021/02 7

Step 1
Remove your cartridge from its packaging being very careful not to damage the
stylus. With the stylus guard ON connect the 4 coloured wires in the tonearm to the
equivalent coloured pin on the back of your cartridge. To do this, use pliers to hold the
at on the connection tab whilst pushing the tab over the pin. Start with the top two
pins rst. It is okay to allow the cartridge to hang at this point. If your cartridge has
letters or markings on in place of the colour coded type these are usually R+, R-, L+, L-
(R+ = red, R- = green, L+ = white, L- = blue).
Step 2
Next you need to mount the cartridge onto the tonearm using the screws provided
with your cartridge. Place the screws through the mounting holes such that the head of
the screw is towards the plinth of the turntable and the other end is free to point
upwards and through the slots in the headshell (in some cases you may need to
remove the stylus guard cover to do this). Place the screws through the mounting holes
and then secure the nut onto the screw one at a time. DO NOT tighten the cartridge
all the way. Remember to ret the stylus guard cover as soon as possible to reduce the
risk of accidental damage.
4.2) Alignment
Place the alignment protractor (not provided if supplied with a tted cartridge) over
the spindle and make the arrow point towards the pivot point of the tonearm. Being
very careful not to damage the stylus / cantilever, move the arm across to the rst
marked position. Move the cartridge in the slots until the stylus is in the middle of the
cross before tightening the mounting screws.
Ensure that the cartridge is parallel to the front edge at all times and does not twist.
Check that the stylus is still on the cross and then go to the second point and conrm
that it is okay - adjust until correct. When you are happy that the cartridge is aligned
correctly you can tighten the bolts. Tight is okay, but overtight can warp or break the
cartridge body.
Next, you need to set the arm height by using the supplied 2.5mm allen key in the arm
collar. The whole arm with the platform will move up and down. Set this such that the
arm is parallel with the record. This can have a big eect on sound quality, so a little
experimentation may be needed to get the desired result. As a general rule, if the arm
is high at the back it will produce a brighter sound. If the arm is down at the back, this
will produce a fatter sound with a bloated bass.

4.3) Setting the tracking weight
With the stylus guard cover removed, gently slide the counterweight on from the rear -
DO NOT tighten. Next, using a stylus balance (this item is not supplied) move the
counterweight along the arm stub until the recommended tracking force is read by the
scales. If in doubt, 1.8 to 2 grams is a good starting point. Feel free to experiment as
dierent pressures will change the sound quality, but do so by a maximum of +/- 0.3
grams so as to avoid any possible long term damage. When you are happy tighten the
counterweight using the supplied 1.5mm allen key.

The bias has been factory set. If you want to change the bias, undo the locking allen
bolt on the weight and move it along the threaded part to the desired position. If you
have a test record you should set the bias using this. The factory set position is more
than adequate for most installations.
5) Operation
Having successfully connected and installed your turntable into your system, you can
now enjoy it. However, as a quick check we suggest that before playing a record you
select the appropriate input and advance the volume control slowly to check that there
are no major hums coming from it. If there is, it may indicate that you need to
reposition either the turntable or the phono stage (if you are using one).
If you cannot reduce the hum you should contact your authorised Edwards Audio
dealer for assistance. You should be able to achieve a position where there is only a
faint hiss and almost zero hum at normal listening levels.

6) Worldwide 3-year guarantee
There are no user serviceable parts inside your Edwards Audio turntable product.
Please DO NOT attempt to modify or alter the turntable in any way as this will
invalidate your guarantee. Your guarantee entitles you to have your turntable
repaired free of charge from date of purchase for the rst three years (inclusive of the
motor for the rst year only). This is provided that your turntable was purchased from
an authorised Edwards Audio dealer.
The manufacturer can take no responsibility for defects arising from accident, misuse,
abuse, wear and tear, neglect or through unauthorised adjustment and / or repair,
neither can they accept responsibility for damage or loss occurring during transit to or
from the person claiming under the guarantee.
The warranty covers parts and labour costs for three years from the date of purchase.
After three years you must pay for both parts and labour costs. The warranty does
NOT cover transportation costs at any time.
Your turntable should be packed in its original packaging and returned to the
authorised Edwards Audio dealer from whom it was purchased, or failing this, directly
to the Edwards Audio distributor. It should be sent carriage prepaid by a reputable
carrier – NOT by post.
No responsibility can be accepted for your turntable while in transit to the dealer or
distributor. Customers are therefore advised to insure the product against loss or
damage while in transit.
