2. Before Repair
Thisequipment(SL-HD550), whichisacomponentofthesystem, issupplied
withpower fromtheAmplifier (SE-HD550) through theTuner (ST-HD550). When
repairing thisequipmentor checking operation ofthesystem, besureto
connect toother systemcomponents withit.
Power supplyand operation checks inthestate ofitas asingleequipmentis
impracticable.
3. Handling Precautions for Traverse Deck
Thelaser diodeinthetraverse deck (optical pickup)maybreak downdueto
potential difference causedbystaticelectricityofclothes or humanbody.
Sobecareful ofelectrostaticbreakdownduring repair ofthetraverse deck

(optical pickup).
3.1. Handling oftraverse deck (optical pickup)
1. Do notsubject thetraverse deck (optical pickup)tostaticelectricityas itis
extremelysensitivetoelectrical shock.
2. Toprotect thelaser diodeagainst electrostaticbreakdown, shorttheflexible
board(FFC board)withaclipor similar object. Refer to Fig. 3-1.
3. Take carenottoapplyexcessivestress totheflexibleboard(FFC board).
4. Do notturnthevariableresistor (laser power adjustment). Ithas alreadybeen
adjusted. Refer to Fig. 3-1.

Use theanti-staticwrist straptodischargethestaticelectricityfromyour body.
