Danger Risk of injury
Placing the unit on an unstable surface may cause
the unit to tip over and cause serious injury or
even death, particularly to children. You can prevent many ac-
cidents by taking the following precautions:
• Only place the subwoofer on the floor.
• If you want to use underframes or speaker stands, only
use those recommended by the manufacturer.
• When storing the product, also ensure that it stands safely
and that it cannot be knocked down or over.
Danger Danger of injury/damage!
Setting the unit up in an unsuitable location may
result in injury to persons and/or damage to property.
• Never use the unit unmounted in vehicles, in unstable
locations, on wobbly tripods or furniture, on insufficiently
dimensioned brackets etc. The unit could tip or fall down
and cause injury to persons or be damaged itself.
• Set up the unit in such a way that you cannot accidentally
knock it over and that the cables do not pose any trip
hazard.
• Do not place the unit near sources of heat (e.g. heaters,
ovens, other heat generating equipment such as amplifiers
etc.).
Danger Fire hazard!
Improper use may lead to damage or fire.
• Do not place open flames such as burning candles or
similar on the unit.
• Do not place the unit in direct sunlight.
Danger Danger to children!
Children can become trapped in the packing film
when playing and suffocate.
• Do not allow children to play with the unit or the packing
film. Danger of suffocation.
• Ensure that children do not remove small parts from the
unit or pull them off of the unit (e.g. the batteries from the
remote control, knobs or plug adapters). They could swal-
low the parts and choke.
Danger Risk of electric shock!
Faulty installation of electrical equipment or
mains voltage which is too high can cause electric
shocks.
• The unit is suitable for use with a power supply voltage of
230 V~/50 Hz. Make sure that the mains voltage is cor-
rect. For more information, refer to the nameplate.
• Check the unit regularly for damage.
If the unit’s case or mains cable is defective or shows
other signs of visible damage, disconnect the power plug
/ mains adapter immediately from the socket and do not
operate the device.
• If the unit emits smoke or smells of burning or other
unusual odours, disconnect it immediately from the power
supply and do not operate it.
• Set up the unit so that the mains plug is easily accessible
and no vent slots are blocked.
• Never open the unit’s housing.
Repairs may only be carried out by an authorised special-
ist workshop. Only parts which conform with the original
unit specifications may be used in this case. There are
electrical and mechanical parts in this unit which are nec-
essary in order to avoid exposure to sources of danger.
• Use only accessories specified by the manufacturer.
• Do not insert any objects through the vent slots in the
housing.
• Only use the unit in indoor areas.
• Do not operate the unit in damp areas and protect it from
drops of water or splash water.
Also take care not to stand vases or other containers filled
with liquid on or near the speaker in order to avoid liquid
getting into the case. If water or any foreign object does
enter the casing, immediately disconnect the AC adapter
plug and remove any batteries if present. Then send the
unit to our service address.
• Never touch the power plug / mains adapter with damp
hands.

reaching into the diaphragms.
Setup notes
Note
Our website contains comprehensive notes for correct setup.
• Select a stable, level base.
• Make sure that the environment is clean and free from dust.
• Avoid placing the unit close to sources of heat or in direct
sunlight.
• Arrange the connector cables so that they do not pose a trip
hazard.
• Do not place any heavy objects on the cables or the speaker.
• The location of the subwoofer can be freely selected and
does not influence the other speakers. However, do not place
it in the corner of the room as this may result in irregular
frequency overloads. A location between the front speakers
is often ideal.
• Make sure that the speaker has a stable position to prevent
vibrations.

Setup as a PC system
When using the unit as a PC sound system, concentrating on
emitting sound directly at the PC workstation is advisable, that
is, the area where the monitor and listener are located.
Please position the speakers within the grey areas.
Setup with a Soundbar
Notes for setup with a Soundbar can be found in the operating
instructions of the Soundbar.
Connecting the signal cable
Danger Danger of injury/damage!
Arrange the cables so that they do not pose a
trip hazard.
• Disconnect the power plug for the device to be connected
from the power outlet.
• Ideally, the subwoofer is connected to the subwoofer output
of the AV receiver or preamplifier (DecoderStation/Control-
Station) or Soundbar using a mono RCA cable.
• The RCA jack
2 “Line In”
on the back side of the subwoofer is
intended for this purpose.
• You can find additional information in the operating instruc-
tions of the receiver, Soundbar or DecoderStation/Control-
Station.
• If your receiver doesn’t feature a subwoofer connection,
connect an available speaker output to the RCA jack 2of
your subwoofer using a voltage reducer and a RCA connector
cable. We offer voltage reducers on our website in the “Ac-
cessories” area.
Connection to the grid
• Ensure that the mains switch 6“Power” on the subwoofer is
switched off (“0 OFF” position).
• Connect the power plugs of the subwoofer and the connect-
ed device to a power outlet.

Use
Activating and deactivating
• The subwoofer is activated or deactivated with the switch 6
“Power”. If the subwoofer is on, the control LED 4is illumi-
nated.
Automatic activation/deactivation
• Switch 3 “On/Auto”:
–Auto position: The subwoofer activates as soon as an
audio signal is present on jack 2 “Line In” (control LED 4is
illuminated in green).
If there's no audio signal for 10 minutes, the subwoofer
switches to standby (control LED 4is illuminated in red).
–On position: The subwoofer is continually activated.
Volume
• You can control the volume of your subwoofer using the
volume control 1“Volume”.
Phase
• Switch 5“Phase” is used to activate and deactivate phase
shifting (180°) for the subwoofer. Choose a setting at which
the subwoofer emits the loudest and most precise sound.
Crossover frequency
• The subwoofer must be “On” in the AV receiver's bass
management/speaker management (“Speaker Setup”). The
appropriate crossover frequency to be set there depends on
the satellites being used. You can find specifications for the
crossover frequency of the respective satellites in the techni-
cal data section of our web shop.
• The crossover frequency is adjusted automatically in case of
using a Soundbar.
• Notes on setting up the crossover frequency for the Decoder-
Station 5 Mk2 can be found in the corresponding operating
instructions.

Disposal
Important information in accordance
with the Electrical and Electronic
Equipment Act (Germany: ElektroG)
We advise owners of electrical and electronic appliances that
old electrical and electronic devices must be handed in sepa-
rately from municipal waste, in accordance with the applicable
regulations. Batteries and rechargeable batteries that are not
firmly enclosed in old electrical devices and lamps, and that
can be removed from the old device without destroying them,
must be separated from them in a non-destructive manner
before they are handed to the collection point for their intended
disposal. Please take note of our information on the Batteries
Act [Germany: BattG] below for disposing of batteries.
You make an important contribution to returning, recycling
and further processing of old devices if you separate your old
devices into the correct collection groups for recycling.
The symbol below of a crossed-out dustbin, applied to electrical
and electronic appliances, also advises of the duty to separate
collections:
Consumer electronics stores and supermarkets are obliged, un-
der certain conditions, to take back old electrical and electronic
devices, in accordance with section 17 of the Electrical and Elec-
tronic Equipment Act. Stationary retailers must take back an old
electrical device of the same type when a new electrical device
is bought (1:1 return). This also applies to home deliveries. These
retailers must also take back up to three small old electrical
devices (≤25cm) without this being linked to a new purchase
(0:1 return).
In accordance with the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act,
as online retailers of electrical devices and due to our product
range, our obligation is limited to 1:1 return of large devices
of > 50 cm when selling a new electrical or electronic device
of the same type. We comply with the obligation of return of
devices other than large devices through our service provider.
You can find the exact contact data and collection points on our
website www.Teufel.de/entsorgung. It is also possible to return
old electrical and electronic appliances free of charge at an offi-
cial delivery point run by the public waste disposal authorities.
Important: For safety reasons we ask that you refrain from
sending lighting fixtures (some lamps). For return of lighting
fixtures please use the public waste disposal collection points
or contact us directly at www.Teufel.de/entsorgung.
As an end-user, you are responsible for deleting any personal
data on old electrical appliances before handing it in.
Important: Our appliances can contain batteries/rechargea-
ble batteries. If this is the case, please refer to its attached
product documentation for additional information on the type
and chemical make-up of the battery. For products with battery
compartments you can directly remove the batteries or rechar-
geable batteries and dispose of them properly. If the batteries
are built in to the product, do not in any case attempt to remove
the batteries yourself, instead contact one of our employees or
appropriate specialist staff.
