Important Safety Instructions

11.Connect to a suitable 230-240 ~ 50 Hz power supply only.
12.Always unplug from the power source when any electrical apparatus is not in use.
13.Do not abuse or damage a power cord. If any power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer,
its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. A replaceable cord must be replaced
with an authorised replacement from an authorised service agent only.
14.Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
15.Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
16.Attention is drawn to the environmental aspects of disposing of any battery.
17.Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any

Eventuallyyou maywanttochange someoftheoptional settingslikespeakerbalanceor equalisersettings. A description ofall

DVDplayers(anddiscs) havemanyfeatureswhicharenotavailableonanyothermovieplaybackmedium(suchasVHSoreven
originalfilmsthemselves).
Inaddition tothe softwareon adisc beingphysicallymuchsmaller and easier to store than the older VHS format, the lifespanof a DVD
discismuchlongerthan aVHS tape and abletoretainthe movieformanymoreyears. Additionally,the mainpointof DVD sistoallow
youtoviewthemoviesinyour own customised way. The optionsarealmostlimitless forcustomisedviewing fromlanguagestoangles
toscenestospeedstosoundsand track mixes,etc.

Speaker System Connections
The speaker wiresand connectorsarecolour-codedfor easier set
up.
Connect the Front Leftspeaker to the Lterminals.

NOTE:
Besuretomatchthespeaker wire to the appropriateterminalon
theback ofthe mainset: (+)to(+)(colour), and (-)to(-)(black). Ifthe
wiresarereversed,thesoundwill be distorted andwill lack some
tones.Followthecolourcodesofeachterminals.

Tips for connecting the speaker wires
Unwind and stretchoutthespeakerwiresattached witheach
speakers,then pushand holddownthe setterminal tab onthe
back of the mainset to insert eachwire. Make sure the wireisfully
inserted, but the insulation isnotcoveringthe inserted part of the
speaker wires.

NOTE: If longerwiresareneeded,you maybuyanygoodquality
speakerwireandsplicethe wires yourself. Please makesure
thewires arenotshorting toeach other and observethecorrect
colourpolarity.Manyspeakerwires haveadotted lineorsolidline
orraisedribon onesidetoidentifyeach side.
Alsomakesureyou use electricaltapetocoveryoursplices.

Yoursys temissupplied with5compactsized satellitespeakersand
one largesubwoofer. The satellitespeakersreprodu ceonlythe mid-
range and higher frequencies.All of the lowfrequency (bass)sounds
areproduced bythesubwoofer.Properpositioningan dplacement
of t he spe akersisimportantinordertoprovidethebestsurround
soundexperience. We understand that due tothe sizeand shape of
your l istening room, and thelocationofyourfurniture,youmaynot
beabletosetupthespeakersexactlyasper these diagrams. However
thesesimpleguidelineswill help you maximise your home theatre
experience.
Notethe speakerlevelsarepre-setat the factoryand most peoplewill
not need tofine tune the sound of eachspeaker. Wesuggestyou skip
this partat first. Lateronyou can fine tune the sound levelofeach
speaker. SeePage34.
Although all 5 satellites are of the same size,the speakers inside the
cabinets are different. The speaker wires onthe back of the cabinets
are colour-coded, as are the speaker terminals on theback of the main
unit. Refer to the connection diagram on page 5.
For best surround sound effects, all 5 of the satellite speakers should
be roughly at the same distance from your usual listening position.

POSITION THE SPEAKERS LIKE THIS FOR OPTIMAL LISTENNING EXPERIENCE
All5satellitespeakers should be placed approximatelythe samedistancefromyourlisteningposition.
The centrespeaker shouldbe placed directlyabove(or below)the TVset. Left and right front speakersshouldbe approximately
atthe sameheightasthe centrespeaker.
The rear speakersshouldbe either in line with, or behind your listening position, approximatelyat ear level, or slightlyabove.
The subwoofer shouldbe on thefloornear the TV,or in anycorner, butremember you need aclearpathtoyourremote(Don t
block thisset with a curtain).
Allspeakersmust be visible. Do not hide them behind curtains, furniture, etc, as this will affect the sound.
Youmayonlyplacethecentrespeaker(bluewires)or front speaker (red wires) near or above the TV set because these
speakersaremagneticallyshielded.
YourUsual Seat
NOTE:You mayonlyplacethe CENTREspeaker (blue terminals) or the FRONTspeakers(red terminals) on or near your TV
set or computermonitor. Thesespeakershavemagne ticshieldinginside. If you putthe REARspeakersnearyour TV
set or computer monitor, the coloursonyour TVor computer monitormaychange.

Be sure you are using the correct satellite speaker in each location,
front, rear and center. Please follow the colours for best results.
This is especially important for the center speaker.

·The centrespeaker, aswell asthe other 4satellites, can be
positionedeitherverticallyorhorizontally.
·The left front,rightfront, and centrespeakersshouldbe
placed atroughlythe sameheight.The centrespeaker
reproducesmost of thedialoguespoken bythe actorson
theTVscreen,thereforeit shouldbeplaced eitherdirectly
aboveorbelowthe centreofthe TVset. Onceyouposition
the centrespeaker, trytoposition the left front and rightfront
speakersat thesameheight.It isnot recommendedtoplace
anyof thesatellitespeakersonthe floor.Manypeopleprefer
toplacethecentrespeakerhorizontallyabovethe TVset.
·Theleftrearandright rearspeakerscanbeplacedinline
withyour listening position orbehind your listening position.
Ideallytheyshouldbeplaced slightlyaboveyourearlevel
whenyouareseatedinyour normallistening position.
·Wehaveprovided 2-waykeyholeopeningson the backof
allthesatellitespeakersthatallowthesatellitespeakersto
bewallmountedineitheraverticalorhorizontalposition.
·Thesubwooferwill provide themostdramaticbass effects
(lowfrequency sounds) whenit isplacedonthefloor. Do
not placethe subwoofer on astand or table. The subwoofer
shouldbe placed inthe front of the roomsothat it isfacing
towardyourlisteningposition.It canbe placed on either
side ofthe TVor even inthe cornerof the room, asfar away
asthecablewill allow.The bass soundsfromthe subwoofer
arenon-directional. Youwill notreallybeabletotell where
thebass iscoming from.

·LONG ROOMS - Incaseyourroomisunusuallylong, you
maybuyspeakerwiresfromyourdealerforadding wire
lengthtoyourspeakers. Becarefulnottoallowtheplus+
and minus- wirestotoucheachother. Useelectrical tape
orplasticconnectorstoinsulatethe wires.

1. Conne ct the 5 satellite spea kers and subwoofer as shown on Page 5
2. Insert the video cable(yellow) intotheVIDEO OUTjackon the back ofyour DVD HOME THEATRE SYSTEM,and
intothe VIDEO INjack on your TV. Thisconnectionwill allowyou toenjoyvideoimage sof normalquality.
3. Insert the AC power cord into an AC socket, the STANDBY indicator will turn on in red automatically.
4. Press the ON /STANDBY bu tton on the main set or on the remote control to turn on the set, and the STANDBY
indicator will be off.
5. Select your TV s video channel (see the NOTE on page 23).
6. Go to Page 32 for playing DVD s (discs).

NOTE: Your TV set must have a VIDEO INPUT connector (or COMPONENT connector) for you to be able to connect and enjoy this
DVD HOME THEATRE SYSTEM.

to your television as you normally would. You may need to consult your television manual for details, but no changes will

For the home theatre antenna connections, we supply an AM loop antenna. Connect this to the AM terminals.
For the FM antenna, you may use the indoor wire antenna we supplied or you may use an antenna spliter & cable to
connect an outdoor antenna to the FM antenna on the back of your set. Better FM reception will probably be received
with an outdoor FM antenna.

Connectthe suppliedAM loop antennatothe A M antenna terminals.Position the loop
antenna toreceivethe clearestsound. The baseof the AM antenna foldsup toformasmall
platformfor this loopantenna.
FMIndoorAntenna
Connectthe supplied FMantenna wiretothe FM terminal. Justinsert the plasticpieceof the
FMindoor antenna intotheFMconnector. Movethe antenna invariousdirectionsuntil the
clearestsignalisreceived.
Note: KeepthisFMantenna asfar away as possiblefromthe TV,VCRoranyradiation

2. MUTE button - Instantly turn off the sound. Press again to restore sound.

5. SLOW/MEMORY button - Shows the picture forward or backward in slow motion
and stores radio memory stations.

speakers sound to all 5 speakers sound (STEREO or SURROUND).
21.OPEN/CLOSE button - Press to open or close the disc tray (door).
22.NEXT/PRESET button - Skip to the next chapter or track or next radio preset.
23.DISPLAY button - Press to show the elapsed playing time, the track number
and other menu items of a playing disc.
24.FORWARD/SCAN button - Searches forward through a disc, also tunes the radio.
25.SETUP button - Enter or exit the setup menus.
26.MONO/STEREO button - Press to select the AUDIO mode for FM reception.
27.PROGRAM button - Allows you to play the disc in a programmed order. This is
especially useful on audio discs.
28.REPEAT 1/ ALL button - Allows you to repeat a title, a chapter, a song or all songs
on the disc (usually used on music discs).
29.A-B REPEAT button - Use to mark a DVD or VCD/CD segment to repeat scenes or
tracks between point A and B.
30.SELECT button - Press to select each spearker's individual volume level to view or
adjust its ouput.
31.VOLUME + button - Press to raise the volume level.
32.VOLUME - button - Press to lower the volume level.
33.SUBTITLE (caption) button - Press to display subtitles (words at the bottom
of the screen).
34.TITLE button - Display the title menu if present on the disc (DVD only).
35.SEARCH button - Allows you to select the desired disc starting time, track and title.
