Introduction

Introduction
The tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 ensures that your PC records every telephone call
automatically. This means you can choose to listen to important calls or
appointments made on the telephone again whenever you want. You can of course
also use the saved telephone calls just to refresh your memory or simply keep them
for security.
The software supplied has been specially developed to manage and archive large
numbers of recordings made with the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300.
You can connect up to four tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 to one PC and make
recordings from four different telephone lines. For every telephone line you have a
separate PC software window.
Satisfy your national laws and regulations! Please check if there are national
laws or regulations for call recording in your country, e.g. in Germany you have
to inform the other person and get the permission before you start recording.
System requirements
To use the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 you need a PC with the following minimum
system requirements:
• Windows 2000/XP
• Pentium II 233 MHz CPU or higher
• USB port or USB hub with external power supply (min USB 1.1)
• Memory: minimum 64 MB RAM
• Free space on hard drive for saving telephone calls

General information
• All telephone calls are recorded automatically.
• Recording as wav file on the PC, without time limit.
• Caller data are displayed automatically if caller ID is available.
• All data about incoming, outgoing and missed telephone calls are stored.
• No influence to the speech quality.
• Connection to an analogue CO line or analogue extension of a PBX.
• No sound card necessary.
• No separate power supply adaptor necessary.

Installation
Software installation
After placing the CD into the CD player of your PC a window will show the different
languages you can choose to install the software. If the window doesn’t appear, then
it is also possible to start the software by selecting the setup.exe file.
You install the software as follows:
1. Click on the requested language.
2. You can choose if you want to open the software. Click on ’Open’.
3. Choose the destination folder and click on ’Next >’.
Default destination folder is C:\Program Files\Tiptel-voiceRECORDER-300.
4. The installation process is started.
5. Click on ’Finish’ to complete the installation.

1. Click on Start in the task bar and then on
Programs / Tiptel-voiceRECORDER-300 / Tiptel-voiceRECORDER-300
(see the picture below).

In the task bar of Windows™ XP the following voiceRECORDER 300 logo is
displayed. The text in the logo is grey if the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 is not
connected to the PC.
Please note that the logos under Windows™ 2000 could be different:
2. Connect the USB cable to the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 and the other end of
the USB cable to the USB port of your PC or laptop. The LED ‘POWER’ lights.
The text VR 300 in the task bar switches to red.
You are asked to enter your own telephone number.
3. Enter your own telephone number.
4. Connect your analogue telephone line with the socket ‘LINE’ of the
tiptel voiceRECORDER 300.
5. Use the supplied telephone connection cable and connect your telephone to
the socket ‘TEL’ of the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300.
To check if all connections of the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 are correct lift the
receiver of your telephone and click on ‘Test’. The telephone is switched to the
tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 and you hear a tone.
6. Now click on ‘OK’.

After the successful installation of the software and the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 it
is possible to record all incoming and outgoing telephone calls with your connected
PC. Now you can archive all recorded telephone calls and contacts.
Settings
You can display and modify the most important settings of the tiptel
voiceRECORDER 300 as follows:
Open the window tiptel voiceRECORDER 300. You can choose between the following
options:
1. Wave: List of all recordings
2. Missed: List of all missed calls
3. Received: List of all received incoming calls
4. Out: List of all outgoing calls
5. Contacts: List of contact persons
6. Setting: Enters the configuration
7. Recent: List of recent calls
8. Keep window displayed after replacing the handset of the telephone.

Click on ’Setting’. The following window opens:
You can choose between the following three menu tabs:
1. System
2. Record
3. Security
1. On the menu tab ’System’ you can activate / deactivate the following settings:
- Start tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 software automatically when
Windows™ starts.
- Open main window when you lift the receiver of your telephone.
- Display information when you receive a call.
- Open main window when you receive a call.
- Choose your own number.
- Set and test the audio device.
2. On the menu tab ’Record’ you can configure the following settings:
- Configure how to start a recording.
- Configure if you want to stop a recording by pressing a stop key.
- Start and stop keys which can be used for recording.
- Folder where the recordings are saved.

For ’How to start record’ you can configure :
1. Record when dial
2. Record when talk
3. Start recording by pressing Start Key
If you have choosen ’Start record by pressing Start Key’ you have to enter the key
combinations which you want to use for start and stop the recording.
Default setting is ** for start and ## for stop.
3. On the menu tab ’Security’ you can configure a password. It is possible to
activate a password for settings and for playback of the recorded calls.
Both passwords are the same.
You configure the password as follows:
1. Select ‘Change Password’ and enter the current password.
Default: no password entered and activated.
2. Enter the new password.
3. Enter the new password as confirmation again.

Archiving and administration of calls
Every telephone call is registered by the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300. You can search
and playback all registered calls:
1. Open the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 software. You can choose the following
options:
- Wave: List of all recordings.
- Missed: List of missed calls.
- Received: List of all received incoming calls.
- Out: List of all outgoing calls.
2. Click on one of this options to display the list of telephone calls. The following
windows is displayed:

3. If you have clicked on the option ‘Wave’ all telephone calls are listed.
Alternatively you can choose a list of all outgoing, all incoming or all missed
calls. Furthermore you can choose the date of the calls.
4. To search a recorded call you can enter the data in ’Content’ and then click on
’Find’.
5. If you want to open archived calls click on (under the option ‘Find’).
The option ‘Refresh’ displays the list in alphabetical order again.
If you have selected a recorded call you can choose between the following options:
- Contacts: You can assign a contact person to this call.
- Memo: Enter information to the selected call.
- Del: Delete the selected call(s).
- Del Sound: Delete the wave file(s) which belongs to the selected call(s).
- Export Files: Export the wave file(s) of the selected call(s).
- Export packet: Export the data and wave file(s) of the selected call(s) as packet.
- Browse packet: Import / Browse in a packet.

Contact persons
In the software of the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 it is possible to enter, edit or delete
contact persons. You open the list of contact persons as follows:
1. Open the tiptel voiceRECORDER 300 software.
2. Click on ‘Contacts’. The following window is displayed:
You can choose between the following options:
- Find: Search for a person in the list.
- Refresh: Refresh and display the list in alphabetical order.
- Add: Add a new contact person.
- Edit: Edit a contact person.
- Del: Delete a contact person.
It is possible to import or export the contact persons and addresses as .csv format if
you click on ‘Import’ or ‘Export’.

Service
You have purchased a modern product of TIPTEL AG, located in Ratingen near
Düsseldorf (Germany). Our certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001 grants a
continuous level of the highest quality.
If, however, problems occur or you have questions on operating the device, please
contact your local dealer.
Guarantee
Please contact your local dealer or importer for details of guarantee for non EC
countries.
Within the European Community the following guarantee regulation applies:
Your contact for services arising from guarantee obligations is the authorised dealer
where you bought the device.
TIPTEL AG will grant a guarantee of 2 years from the date of handover for the
material and for the manufacturing of the telecommunications terminal unit.
Initially, the purchaser shall have only the right of subsequent performance.
Subsequent performance entails either repair or the supply of an alternative product.
Exchanged devices or parts shall become the property of the authorised dealer.
If the subsequent performance fails, the purchaser can either demand a reduction in
the purchase price or withdraw from the contract.
The purchaser shall notify the dealer immediately of any defects found. Proof of the
guarantee entitlement shall be furnished by standard proof of purchase (receipt or
invoice).
The guarantee entitlement shall expire if the purchaser or an unauthorised third party
interferes with the device. Damage caused by inappropriate handling, operation,
storage or by force majeure or other external influences shall not be covered by the
guarantee.

The guarantee shall not cover any consumable material (e.g. batteries) or defects
that only slightly impair the value or the usability of the device.
Claims for damage caused by transport shall be asserted to the delivery company.
Notes on settlement:
Repairs can only be conducted by the TIPTEL Service. A warranty repair does not
prolong the warranty period – neither for the replaced parts nor for the device. This
guarantee is not transferable and shall expire if the device is sold on to another party.
It shall also expire if the device is interfered with by third parties or if the serial number
on the device has been removed or made illegible.
The General Terms and Conditions of TIPTEL AG, which are part of the contract for a
dealer, shall also apply. In the event of a complaint, the defective product shall be
sent to the relevant TIPTEL subsidiary, the importer or dealer along with a description
of the defect and the proof of purchase.
CE sign
This device is approved for the connection and use within the analogue public
telephone networks in all EC countries – according to the European Requirements.
Due to technical deviations in individual countries, we cannot grant an unlimited
guarantee for the successful operation at all types of telephone accesses.
TIPTEL AG hereby declares that the device complies with all fundamental
requirements of the European directive 1999/5/EC. This conformity is confirmed by
the CE sign on the device.
