Re ad
me first
Use the EasyClickmountto install your TomTom PRO inside your car.
Make sure thatboth the EasyClickmountand your windscreen are clean and dry before
you attach the mount.Place the EasyClickmountso thatitdoes notinterfere with your
view ofthe road or ofany ofthe controls in your car.
To attach the EasyClickmount,press the suction cup firmly againstthe windscreen on an
area where the glass is flat.Then twistthe rubber grip near the base ofthe mountin a
clockwise direction until you hear a click.
Plug the cable into your car dashboard and connectthe other end to the bottom ofyour
device.

To switch on your navigation device,press and hold the On/Off button until you see the
start-up screen.The firsttime you switch on your device,itmay take a shorttime to start.

: Take care to selectthe correctlanguage,since the language you choose will
be used for all texton the screen.
When you firstswitch on your device,you have to answer a few questions to setup the
device.Answer the questions by tapping the screen.

When you firststartyour TomTom PRO navigation device,the device may need a few
minutes to determine your GPS position and show your currentposition on the map.In
future,your position will be found much faster,usually within a few seconds.
To ensure good GPS reception,you should use your device outdoors.Large objects such
as tall buildings can sometimes interfere with reception.
When your navigation device is used in combination with a LINK,the GPS receiver in the
LINK is used by default.

MyTomTom helps you manage the contents,maps and services ofyour TomTom PRO
navigation device,as well as giving you access to the TomTom community.It is a good
idea to frequently connectyour navigation device to MyTomTom,to ensure you always
have the latestupdates.You can also log in to MyTomTom on the TomTom website.

: We recommend using a broadband internetconnection whenever you connectyour
navigation device to MyTomTom.

To setup MyTomTom,do the following:
1.Connectyour computer to the internet.
2.Starta browser and go to .
3.Click
Your browser downloads the MyTomTom supportapplication,which you need to
install on your computer in order to connectyour device to MyTomTom.Follow the
instructions on the screen ifyou are asked questions while downloading.
4.When prompted,connectthe mountfor your device to your computer using the
supplied cable.Then place your device in the mountand switch your device on.
: You should plug the USB connector directly into a USB porton your computer
and notinto a USB hub or USB porton a keyboard or monitor.
Once the MyTomTom supportapplication is installed,you can access MyTomTom from
the notification area on your desktop.
 When you connectyour navigation device to your computer,MyTomTom tells you if
there are any updates for your device.

In rare cases,your TomTom PRO navigation device may notstartcorrectly or may stop
responding to your taps.
First,checkthatthe battery is properly charged.To charge the battery,connectyour
device to the car charger.It can take up to 2 hours to fully charge the battery.
Ifthis does notsolve the problem,you can resetthe device.To do this,press and hold the
On/Off button for 15 seconds and release the button when your device begins to restart.

The battery in your TomTom PRO navigation device charges when you connectitto the
car charger or to your computer.

The lighton the On/Off button is orange while the battery is charging and is green when
the battery is fully charged.
: You should plug the USB connector directly into a USB porton your computer
and notinto a USB hub or USB porton a keyboard or monitor.

The following information applies only to TomTom PRO 9xxx devices.
Some TomTom navigation devices contain a GSM/GPRS module which can interfere with
electricaldevices such as cardiac pacemakers,hearing aids and aviation equipment.
Interference with these devices may endanger the health or life ofyou or others.
Ifyour device includes a GSM/GPRS module,do notuse itnear unprotected electrical
units or in areas where the use ofmobile telephones is prohibited,such as hospitals and
airplanes.

Never leave your TomTom PRO or accessories on view when you leave the car as they
may become an easy targetfor thieves.
It is importantto take care ofyour device:
• Your device is notdesigned for use in extreme temperatures and any such exposure
may cause permanentdamage.Extended exposure to sun lightmay lead to early
deterioration in battery performance.
• Do notopen the casing ofyour device under any circumstances.Doing so may be
dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
• Wipe or dry the screen ofyour device using a softcloth.Do notuse any liquid cleaners.


Safety
Consider carefully where to attach the mountin your car.The mountshould notblockor
interfere with any ofthe following:
• Your view ofthe road
• Any ofthe controls in your car
• Any ofyour mirrors
• The airbag
When your navigation device is in the mount,you should be able to reach the device easily
withoutleaning or stretching.You can attach the mountto the windscreen,side window
or use a Dashboard MountDiskto attach the mountto your dashboard.The following
diagrams show where you can safely attach the mount.
TomTom also offers alternative mounting solutions for your TomTom navigation device.
For more information aboutDashboard MountDisks and alternative mounting solutions,
go to .

Make sure thatboth the mountand your window are clean and dry.
1.Press the suction cup firmly againstthe window on an area where the glass is flat.
2.Twistthe locking wheelin a clockwise direction as far as itgoes.
The mountis now installed and you can place your device on the mount.

We recommend using the safety settings to make your driving as safe as
possible.
These are some ofthe options included in the safety settings:
• Show essentialmenu buttons while driving
• Show safety reminders
• Warn when driving faster than allowed
You can also drive more safely by using voice commands to controlyour TomTom PRO.


LINK
and
WEB-
FLEET
The following information applies when you want to connect your TomTom PRO 7xxx to
a TomTom LINK. To connect your TomTom PRO 9xxx to WEBFLEET, read
Connecting to
WEBFLEET
(9).
Connectyour TomTom PRO device to your TomTom LINK to fully enjoy the benefits of
Connected Navigation.
When you firstswitch on your PRO device,you are asked to connectitwith the LINK
installed in your vehicle.You can do this immediately or ata later time.
1.Make sure thatthe LINK is connected to power and has a GPRS connection (see
TomTom LINK Installation Guide).
2.Switch on your PRO device.
3.Tap the screen to bring up the Main Menu.
4.Tap .
You are asked to startthe activation process.After you have started the activation
process your PRO device searches for Bluetooth devices.
Ifyour PRO device finds more than one Bluetooth device,itshows a listofthe available
devices.Continue with step 5.
Ifyour PRO device finds only one LINK,continue with step 6.
5.Selectyour LINK from the list.
The name starts with LINK followed by the serialnumber ofyour LINK or the licence
plate number ofyour vehicle.You can find the serialnumber on the outside ofyour
LINK.
6.Enter the activation code,found in your WEBFLEET contractconfirmation.
7.Enter the licence plate number ofthe vehicle.

Ifyou have properly connected the two devices,you receive a welcome message from
WEBFLEET confirming the activation.In future the connection is established
automatically.
To checkthe connection status between the two devices,tap  in the  menu
on your navigation device,then tap  (see  (64)).


WEBFLEET. To connect your TomTom PRO 7xxx to a LINK, read
Connecting to LINKand
WEBFLEET
(7).
Activate your PRO to fully enjoy the benefits ofConnected Navigation.
When you firstswitch on your PRO device,you are asked to activate it.You can do this
immediately or ata later time.
1.Switch on your PRO device.
2.Tap the screen to bring up the Main Menu.
3.Tap .
You are asked to startthe activation process.
4.Enter the Activation Code,found in your WEBFLEET contractconfirmation.
Ifyour PRO device finds more than one subsciption to which itcan be assigned,it
shows a listofthe available subscriptions.Continue with step 5.
Ifyour PRO device finds only one subscription,continue with step 6.
5.Selectyour subscription from the list.
6.Enter a name for your device.
Your device is labelled in the TomTom WEBFLEET service with this name.
7.Enter the licence plate number ofthe vehicle.
Ifyou have successfully activated your PRO device,you receive a welcome message from
WEBFLEET confirming the activation.In future the connection is established
automatically.
To checkthe connection status between the PRO and WEBFLEET,tap  in the
 menu on your navigation device,then tap  (see 
 (64)).

Plan-
ning a
route: In the interestofsafety and to reduce distractions while you are driving,you
should always plan a route before you startdriving.
To plan a route on your TomTom PRO,do the following:
1.Tap the screen to open the Main menu.
2.Tap 
3.Tap .
: The firsttime you plan a route,you are asked to selecta country,state or region.Your
selection is saved and used for all future routes until you change this setting.
You can change this setting by tapping the flag before you selecta city.
4.Enter the town or city name.
: Instead oftyping the address,tap the microphone button to enter the address by
speaking to your PRO.
• Towns with similar names are shown in the listwhile you type.
• When the correctcity or town appears in the list,tap the name to selectthe
destination.

5.Enter the streetname.
• Streets with similar names are shown in the listwhile you type.
• When the correctstreetname appears in the list,tap the name to selectthe
destination.
6.Enter the house number,then tap .
7.The location is shown on the map.Tap  to continue or tap  to enter another
address.
: Ifyou wantyour finaldestination to be a car park,tap  and selecta
location from the listofcar parks close to your generaldestination.

8.Selectthe type ofroute you wantto plan.
9.When the new route is shown,tap .
• For more information aboutthe route,tap .
• To plan a differentroute,tap .
Your TomTom PRO starts to guide you to your destination,using spoken instructions
and onscreen directions.

The route summary shows an overview ofyour route,the remaining distance to your
destination and the remaining estimated journey time.
To view the route summary,tap the right-hand panelon the status bar in the Driving view
or tap  in the Main menu and then tap .
When used with TomTom Traffic,the route summary shows an overview ofyour route,
the remaining distance to your destination,the remaining estimated journey time and
traffic information aboutdelays on your route.

LIVE summary shows LIVE services information on your route.

To view LIVE summary information,tap the LIVE tab on the route summary screen.Tap
any ofthe panels for more detailed information.
The LIVE tab panels show the following information:
• - tap this panelto view detailed information abouttraffic delays and
other incidents on your route.
• - tap this panelto open the Speed Camera menu.You can then report
a speed camera or change your settings for speed camera warnings.
• - tap this panelto view the latestweather reports.
Note
: LIVE services are only available in designated countries. In order to benefit from
LIVE services, the respective WEBFLEET subscription is needed. For more information on
available services in your country, go to
business.tomtom.com/liveservices
.

Instead oftapping the screen to plan a route,you can use your voice to plan a route.
For information aboutplanning a route using your voice,see Voice command and control.

Ifyou often make trips to the same destinations,you can setyour TomTom PRO to askif
you wantto plan a route to one ofthese locations,every time the device starts.This is
faster than planning a route in the normalway.
To selecta new destination,tap  in the Settings menu and select
.Then selecta button to use for this destination and answer the questions
aboutthe destination.

You can setyour TomTom PRO to askifyou wantto plan a route to one ofyour frequently
visited destinations every time the device starts.
To change this setting,do the following:

1.Tap in the Settings menu and then select.
2.Tap ,then tap  again to begin entering information aboutthe destination.
3.Selecta symbolfor the destination and tap  to setthe symbol,then tap .
: To add new destinations,selectone ofthe numbered symbols and enter a name for
the new destination button.
4.Tap  and ifrequired enter a new name,then tap .
5.Enter the address details in the same way you enter an address when planning a route,
then tap .
6.Ifyou wantto setmore destinations,repeatthe steps above.Otherwise,tap .
You are asked ifyou wantto change the start-up image.
7.Ifyou wantto change the image,tap  then follow the instructions shown on the
screen.Otherwise,tap .
Every time your TomTom PRO starts,you are asked ifyou wantto plan a route.Ifyou tap
,you are shown the Main Menu.

When you plan a route,your TomTom PRO asks you ifyou need to arrive ata particular
time.
Tap  to enter a preferred arrivaltime.
Your PRO calculates your arrivaltime and shows you whether you will arrive on time.
You can also use this information to workoutwhen you need to leave.Ifyour PRO shows
thatyou will arrive 30 minutes early,you can waitand leave in 30 minutes time,rather than
arrive early.
Your arrivaltime is constantly recalculated during your journey.The status bar shows
whether you will arrive on time or ifyou are going to be late,as shown below:
You will arrive 55 minutes before the arrivaltime you entered.
Ifthe estimated arrivaltime is more than five minutes before the time
you entered,itis shown in green.
You will arrive 3 minutes before the arrivaltime you entered.
Ifthe estimated arrivaltime is less than 5 minutes before the time
you entered,itis shown in yellow.
You will arrive 19 minutes late.
Ifthe estimated arrivaltime is later than the time you entered,itis
shown in red.


Tap  in the Settings menu,to enable or disable
arrivaltime notifications.
To enable arrivaltime notifications,select.

When you tap ,you can setyour destination in many ways,notjustby
entering the address.The other options are listed below:

Tap this button to use TomTom LocalSearch withTomTom Places to
help you find shops and businesses in and around your currentlocation.
You can choose to search for shops and businesses near you,near
your destination,near any other destination or in a city.
For example,ifyou are looking for a swimming poolnear your
currentlocation,enter ’swimming pool’and choose the bestsearch
result.

Tap this button to navigate to your Home location.
You will probably use this button more than any other.

Tap this button to selecta Favourite as your destination.

Tap this button to enter an address as your destination.


Tap this button to selectyour destination from a listofplaces you
have recently used as destinations.

Tap this button to navigate to a PointofInterest(POI).

Tap this button to selecta pointon the map as your destination using
the map browser.


Tap this button to enter a destination using latitude and longitude
values.


Tap this button to selectyour lastrecorded position,as your
destination.

You can use your TomTom PRO to plan a route in advance,selecting your starting point
and your destination.
Here are some more reasons to plan a route in advance:
• Find outhow long a journey is going to take before you start.
You can also compare journey times for the same route atdifferenttimes ofthe day or
on differentdays ofthe week.Your PRO uses IQ Routes when planning a route.IQ
Routes calculates routes based on the realaverage speeds measured on roads.
• Study the route ofa journey you are planning.
• Checka route for someone who is coming to visityou and then explain the route to
them in detail.
To plan a route in advance,follow these steps:
1.Tap the screen to bring up the Main menu.
2.Tap the arrow button to move to the nextmenu screen and tap .
3.Selectthe starting pointfor your journey in the same way thatyou would selectyour
destination.
4.Setthe destination for your journey.
5.Choose the type ofroute thatshould be planned.
• - the route which takes the leasttime.
• - the mostfuel-efficientroute for your journey.
• - the shortestdistance between the locations you set.This may not
be the quickestroute,especially ifthe shortestroute is through a town or city.
• - a route which avoids motorways.
• - a route designed for making the journey on foot.
• - a route designed for making the journey on a bicycle.
6.Choose the date and time thatyou will make the journey you are planning.
Your PRO uses IQ Routes to workoutthe bestpossible route atthattime.This is useful
to see how long a journey takes atdifferenttimes ofthe day or on differentdays ofthe
week.
7.Your TomTom PRO plans the route between the two locations you selected.

You can access these options for the route you lastplanned by tapping  in the
Main Menu or the  button on the route summary screen.

This button is shown while there is no planned route on your PRO.

Tap this button for a listofall the turn instructions on the route.
This is very usefulifyou need to explain a route to someone else.


Tap this button to see an overview ofthe route using the map
browser.

Tap this button to watch a demo ofthe journey.You can interruptthe
demo atany time by tapping the screen.


Tap this button to open the route summary screen.


Tap this button to see a preview ofyour destination.
You can navigate to a car parknear your destination,call your
destination ifa phone number is known,and view any available
information aboutyour destination.


Tap this button to see all the traffic incidents on your route.
Note
: This button is only shown if your device has either an HD
Traffic subscription or an RDS-TMC Receiver connected. Traffic
information is not available in all countries or regions. For more
information about TomTom traffic information services, go to
tomtom.com/services

Voice
control
Instead oftapping the screen to controlyour TomTom PRO,you can use your voice to
controlyour PRO.
For example,to increase the volume on your PRO,you can say,
"
Increase volume.
"
To view the listofavailable commands,tap  in the Main menu or the Settings menu
then tap  and then tap 
: Voice controlrequires a computer voice.When there are no computer voices
installed on your TomTom PRO,this feature is notavailable.
To selecta computer voice,tap  in the Settings menu,then tap  and
selecta computer voice.

To enable voice controland show the button in the Driving view,tap
 in the Settings menu and selectthe checkbox for .
To switch off voice controland remove the button from the Driving view,tap
 in the Settings menu and clear the checkbox for .
The following example shows how to use voice controlto plan a journey to your Home
address.
1.Tap the microphone button in the Driving view to turn on the
microphone.
The microphone monitor is shown on the right-hand side ofthe screen.
2.When you hear the tone,say,
"
Navigate to Home
"
.
While you are speaking the microphone monitor shows how well the device can hear
your voice:
A green bar means the device can hear your voice.
A red bar means your voice is too loud for the device to recognise individualwords
and understand everything you say.
A grey bar means your voice is too quietfor the device to recognise individual
words and understand everything you say.
For some phrases,your PRO repeats whatyou say and asks for confirmation.
3.Ifthe command is correct,say,
"
Yes.
"

and repeatthe command after you hear the tone.
Your PRO plans a route from your currentlocation to your Home address.

Ifthe name is notin the list,then say
