Training
•Read,understand,andfollowallinstructionsonthe
machineandinthemanual(s)beforeoperatingthis
machine.Bethoroughlyfamiliarwiththecontrolsand
theproperuseofthemachine.Knowhowtostopthe
machineanddisengagethecontrolsquickly.
•Neverallowchildrentooperatethemachine.Neverallow
adultstooperatethemachinewithoutproperinstruction.
•Keeptheareaofoperationclearofallpersons,particularly
smallchildren.
•Exercisecautiontoavoidslippingorfalling.
Preparation
•Thoroughlyinspecttheareawherethemachineistobe
usedandremovealldoormats,sleds,boards,wires,and
otherforeignobjects.
•Donotoperatethemachinewithoutwearingadequate
wintergarments.Avoidloosettingclothingthatcanget
caughtinmovingparts.Wearfootwearthatwillimprove
footingonslipperysurfaces.
•Handlefuelwithcare;itishighlyammable.

ontheground,awayfromyourvehicle,beforelling.
–Whenpractical,removegas-poweredmachineryfrom
thetruckortrailerandrefuelitontheground.If
thisisnotpossible,thenrefuelsuchmachineryona
trailerwithaportablecontainer,ratherthanfroma
gasolinedispensernozzle.
–Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefuel
tankorcontaineropeningatalltimes,untilrefueling
iscomplete.Donotuseanozzlelock-opendevice.
–Replacegasolinecapsecurelyandwipeupspilledfuel.
–Iffuelisspilledonclothing,changeclothing
immediately.
–Donotsmokewhilehandlinggasoline.
•Neverattempttomakeanyadjustmentswhiletheengine
isrunning(exceptwhenspecicallyrecommendedby
manufacturer).
•Alwayswearsafetyglassesoreyeshieldsduringoperation
orwhileperforminganadjustmentorrepairtoprotect
eyesfromforeignobjectsthatmaybethrownfromthe
machine.
•Lettheengineandmachineadjusttooutdoor
temperaturesbeforestartingtoclearthesnow .
Operation
•Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderrotatingparts.
Keepclearofthedischargeopeningatalltimes.
•Exerciseextremecautionwhenoperatingonorcrossing
graveldrives,walks,orroads.Stayalertforhidden
hazardsortrafc.Donotcarrypassengers.
•Afterstrikingaforeignobject,stoptheengine,cyclethe
auxiliaryhydraulicslever,disconnectthehydrauliclines,
thoroughlyinspectthesnowthrowerforanydamage,
andrepairthedamagebeforerestartingandoperating
thesnowthrower.
•Iftheunitshouldstarttovibrateabnormally,stopthe
engineandcheckimmediatelyforthecause.Vibrationis
generallyawarningoftrouble.
•Stoptheenginewheneveryouleavetheoperating
position,beforeuncloggingtheauger/impellerhousing
ordischargechute,andwhenmakinganyrepairs,
adjustments,orinspections.
•Whencleaning,repairing,orinspecting,stoptheengine,
makecertaintheauger/impellerandallmovingparts
havestopped,cycletheauxiliaryhydraulicslever,and
disconnectthehydrauliclines.
•Donotruntheengineindoors,exceptwhenstarting
theengineandfortransportingthemachineinorout
ofthebuilding.Opentheoutsidedoors;exhaustfumes
aredangerous.
•Donotclearsnowacrossthefaceofslopes.Exercise
extremecautionwhenchangingdirectiononslopes.Do
notattempttoclearsteepslopes.
•Neveroperatethesnowthrowerwithoutproperguards,
plates,orothersafetyprotectivedevicesinplace.
•Neveroperatethesnowthrowertowardpeopleorareas
wherepropertydamagecanoccur.Keeptheareaof

•Donotoverloadthemachinecapacitybyattemptingto

•Checkfastenersatfrequentintervalsforpropertightness
tobesuretheequipmentisinsafeworkingcondition.
•Neverstorethemachinewithfuelinthefueltankinsidea
buildingwhereignitionsourcesarepresent,suchashot
waterheaters,spaceheaters,orclothesdryers.Allowthe
enginetocoolbeforestoringinanyenclosure.
•AlwaysrefertotheOperator’sManualforimportantdetails
ifthesnowthroweristobestoredforanextendedperiod.
•Maintainorreplacesafetyandinstructionlabels,as
necessary.
•Runthemachineafewminutesafterthrowingsnowto
preventfreeze-upoftheauger/impeller.

moving,orrotatingparts.
•Beforeadjusting,cleaning,repairing,andinspectingthe
snowthrower,andbeforeuncloggingthedischargechute,
stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving

1.Starttheengineandlowertheattachmenttothe
groundorontoatrailer,thenstoptheengine.
2.Removethechutecontrolbracketasfollows:
•On200/300seriestractionunits,removethe
knobs,washer,andhandleclampfromthechute
controlbracketandremovethebracket.
•OnTXseriestractionunits,removetheknobsand
retainingplatefromthechutecontrolbracketand
removethebracket.
3.Installthefasteninghardwareonthechutecontrol
bracketforsafekeeping.
4.On200/300seriestractionunits,removethechute
controlcablefromthecableguide.
5.Disconnectthehydrauliclinesandremovethe
snowthrowerfromthemountplate.Refertothe
Operator’sManualforyourtractionunitforinstructions.
OperatingTips
•Alwaysusefullthrottle(maximumenginespeed).
•Ifyourtractionunithasaspeedselector,usetheslow
position(turtle).
•Ifyourtractionunithasaowdivider,setitasappropriate
forthesnowconditions(i.e.,varythesettingfrom10
o’clockforheavysnowto12o’clockforlightersnow).
•Thedischargechutecanberotated180°sidetoside.The
directioniscontrolledbyturningthechutecontrolcrank
inthechutecontrolbracket.
•Thechutedeector,ontopofthedischargechute,canbe
movedupanddowntocontroltheheightanddistance
snowisthrown(Figure7).

•Removesnowassoonaspossibleafteritfalls.This
producesthebestsnowremovalresults.
•Adjusttheskidstomatchthetypeofsurfacebeing
cleaned;refertoAdjustingtheSkids(page13).
•Thesnowthrowerisdesignedtocleansnowdowntothe
contactsurface,buttherearetimeswhenthefrontof
thesnowthrowermaytendtorideup.Ifthishappens,
reducetheforwardspeed.
•Dischargesnowdownwindwheneverpossibleand
overlapeachpasstoensurecompletesnowremoval.If
wheelsslip,reducetheforwardspeed.
•Runthesnowthrowerforafewminutesafterclearing
snowsomovingpartsdonotfreeze.
•Donotoverloadthesnowthrowerbyclearingsnowattoo
fastarate.Iftheengineslowsdown,reducetheforward
speedoradjusttheowdivider(whereapplicable)to
