GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS
WARNING: Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and
instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or
battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
WORK AREA SAFETY
Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, petrol, or explosive dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the
dust or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause
you to lose control.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool.
Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or
medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious
personal injury.
Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment
such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for
appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before connecting
to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools
with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites
accidents.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key
left attached to a rotating part of power tool may result in personal injury.
Do not overreach. Always keep proper footing and balance. This enables better control of
the power tool in unexpected situations.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing, and
gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in
moving parts.

Your judgement and/or dexterity may be impaired if you are ill, are taking
medication, and/or have taken alcohol or other substances known to affect the way
you would normally function. Operate this unit only if you are in good physical and
mental health.
VIBRATION AND COLD
It is believed that a condition called Raynaud's phenomenon which affects the
fingers of certain individuals is brought about by exposure to vibration and cold. Your
litter collector has shock mounts designed to reduce the intensity of vibration
transmitted through the handles.
Exposure to cold and vibration may cause tingling and burning, followed by loss of
colour and numbness in the fingers. The following precautions are strongly
recommended because the minimum exposure which might trigger the ailment is
unknown.
1. Keep your body warm - especially your hands and wrists.
2. Maintain good blood circulation by performing vigorous arm exercises during
frequent breaks, and by not smoking.
3. If you do experience discomfort, consult your physician before further
exposing yourself to cold and vibration.
PRECAUTIONS AGAINST REPETITIVE STRESS INJURIES
It is believed that overusing the muscles and tendons of the fingers, hands,
arms and shoulders may cause soreness, swelling, numbness, weakness and extreme
pain to the areas mentioned.
To reduce the risk of repetitive stress injury, do the following.
1. Avoid using your wrist in a bent, extended, or twisted position.
2. Try to maintain a straight wrist position.
3. When grasping try to use your whole hand not just the index finger and thumb.
4. Take periodic breaks to minimise repetition and rest your hands.
5. Reduce the speed and force with which you do the repetitive movement.
6. Do exercises to strengthen hand and arm muscles.
7. See a doctor if you feel tingling, numbness or pain in your fingers, hands,
wrists or arms.
