Quick Start Guide
You should carefully inspect your Traulsen unit for damage during delivery. If damage is detected, you should save
all the crating materials and make note on the carrier’s Bill Of Lading describing this. A freight claim should be led
within 5 days.
Conrm that the correct power supply is available to the cabinet per the manufactures requirements as listed on
the cabinet data tag before cabinet installation. The area in which your cabinet is to be installed should be chosen
carefully to insure the best performance. The installation surface should be level and provide good area circulation.
After the cabinet is set in place, and leveled, an NSF approved sealant(Dow Corning Silastic RTX #732 for example)
should be used around the perimeter of the base to secure the unit to the oor and prevent the ingress of vermin and
water under the unit. After properly sealing the unit to the oor, the enclosed ramp should then be installed using the
instructions included in this guide.
Some models may use R-290 (Propane) as a refrigerant. If ammable refrigerant is present, follow instructions as
labeled on the unit. Proper care must be taken to avoid any damage to refrigeration system including refrigerant
tubing, condenser and evaporator coils during handling, moving, installation and cleaning as it may cause risk of re
or explosion. If damaged, unit must be moved to well ventilated area away from any sources of ignition.
Further service and repair must be performed by qualied refrigeration technicians familiar with applicable safety
standards for ammable refrigerants. Technicians must use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow
applicable safety pre cautions to avoid risk of re or explosion.
All models should be installed to allow at least 12” of clear space above the unit. In all cases the louvers must be free
of any obstruction which could prevent proper air-ow.
Most units are supplied with a cord and plug, which can simply be plugged into a dedicated appropriately sized outlet.
For those requiring hard-wiring directly to the power supply, this should be done by a qualied electrician only.

2. a - STEP ONE
To install the ramp you will need to rst loosen and remove screws (351-60001-07) from both the left and right sides of the
breaker strip.
2. b - STEP TWO
Center the ramp to the door opening placing it 1-2 inches above the bottom of the unit. Move the ramp close to the unit (see
Figure A) until the ramp end is placed between screw heads and foam tape by visual inspection. Lower the ramp straight
down so that the screw heads capture the ramp end (see Figure B).

2. c - STEP THREE
Install screws (351-60001-07) on the left and right sides but do not tighten (see Figure C).
Push the ramp into the unit until it is fully inserted, then tighten the screws on the left and right sides (see Figure D).

Loosen the four screws (351-60015-00) located on the door sweep but do not remove them.

2. e - STEP FIVE
Adjust the door sweep’s height to close the gap between the wiper’s bottom and the ramp’s surface, then tighten the screw
closest to the door hinge. Next, tighten the screw on the opposite end (closest to the door handle), then tighten the remaining
two screws in the middle.

3. ADJUSTMENTS
3. a - DOOR GASKET ADJUSTMENT
Door gaskets should be adjusted after the door sweeps have been adjusted and secured. Loosen the retaining screw holding
the door gasket in place normally located about six inches up from the bottom of the door in the interior fold of the gasket.
Raise the bottom gasket up until it is leveled with the bottom of the door sweep’s wiper. Secure the retaining screw. A new
hole may need to be made if the gasket is raised substantially.
3. b - DOOR/HINGE ADJUSTMENTS
All doors must be properly adjusted to insure they close properly. The door should close freely over the ramp. To remove the
door, you will need to remove the safety screw in the bottom of all hinges. The door should lift off the cabinet at this point.
There are three screws holding the hinge bracket to the cabinet. Loosen the three screws but do not remove them. You can
now adjust the hinge up or down and side to side. Tighten the three screws and replace the door and safety screws. Open
and close the door several times to make sure it closes freely.

3. c - LOCKKEEPER ADJUSTMENT
To adjust the lockkeeper, you will need to remove the two screws holding the lockkeeper. Loosen the two screws in the
bracket mounted on the cabinet but do not remove them. The bracket can be moved slightly from side to side. Tighten the
screws in the bracket and replace the lockkeeper. Make sure the lock bolt catches the lockkeeper so the door can be locked.
All Traulsen equipment is congured for optimum performance. However, you may make minor adjustments to your Traulsen
unit to suit your needs.

On the Upper Side of the display, there are colored LEDs for showing the temperature, status of the compressor, fans,
lock/unlock status, etc.
On the Lower Side of the display, there are ve capacitive touch buttons for managing the operation of the unit.

4. c - UNLOCKING THE KEYPAD
Normally, the keypad is locked to prevent inadvertent changes to settings. The Unlock Key is a white dot on the bottom of
the display, centered between the other four keys. Press the Unlock key twice within a second in order to unlock the keypad
(think “tap-tap”). The Keypad Unlocked LED will turn on to indicate the keypad is now live. The keypad will stay unlocked
until three minutes of inactivity have passed, at which time it will automatically lock the keypad. There are two operations
the user can perform without having to enter a password:
• Change the temperature setpoint • Initiate a defrost operation
4. d - CHANGING THE TEMPERATURE SETPOINT
The setpoint to the unit can be changed simply by pressing the Plus or Minus Key. There will be a slight delay at rst to
prevent an accidental change, so it will be necessary to hold the key for 3-4 seconds until the value starts to ash. The
ashing value indicates the setting is being modied. To raise the setpoint, press the Plus Key to increment to the setpoint
you want. Similarly, press the Minus Key to lower the setpoint. When the desired value is reached, press the Enter/Display
Key to lock in the value. Pressing the Esc Key will abort the process and keep the original setpoint. The keypad must be
unlocked in order to change the setpoint using the shortcut method.
4. e - INITIATING A DEFROST OPERATION
To manually defrost the unit, press the Minus Key and the Esc Key simultaneously and hold for 5 seconds. Units equipped
with an LED temperature display will indicate when a defrost cycle is in process. The Defrost Symbol will illuminate letting
you know defrost is in effect. Depending on the settings, the unit may also show “DEF”.
4. f - TURNING OFF HEATERS - HOT FOOD CABINETS ONLY
The keypad must be unlocked in order to de-activate the heaters. Press the Unlock key twice within a second in order to
unlock the keypad. The Keypad Unlocked LED will turn on to indicate the keypad is active. To turn the unit off, press and
hold the Unlock Key until the display shows “OFF”. To turn the unit ON, press the Unlock Key until the display shows the
temperature.
Disconnect electrical power supply before cleaning any parts of the unit. All Traulsen equipment should be cleaned only with
warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth. Apply with a dampened cloth and wipe in the direction of the metal grain.
Avoid the use of strong detergents and gritty, abrasive cleaners as they may tend to mar and scratch the surface. Do not use
cleaners containing chlorine as this may promote metal corrosion.
Care should also be taken to avoid splashing the unit with water containing chlorinated cleaners when mopping the oor around
the unit. For stubborn odor spills, use baking soda and water (mixed to a 1 TBSP baking soda to 1 pint water ratio).
5. GENERAL CARE

Disconnect electrical power supply before cleaning any parts of the unit. This is the single most important thing you
can do to promote long, efcient equipment life. For upright cabinets, remove the two bottom screws securing the louver
panel, then pivot this upwards allowing full access to the front facing condenser.
Vacuum or brush any dirt, lint or dust from the nned condenser coil, around the compressor and other cooling system parts
as indicated. If signicant dirt is clogging the condenser ns, use compressed air to blow this clear. When nished reverse
the louver removal process as instructed above.

7. TROUBLESHOOTING
Some models may use R-290 (Propane) as a refrigerant. Service and repair must be performed by qualied refrigeration
technicians familiar with applicable safety standards for ammable refrigerants. Technicians must use appropriate personal
protective equipment and follow applicable safely precautions to avoid risk of re or explosion. Service and repair must be
performed in well ventilated and unconned area, away from any ignition sources. All system components must be replaced
with like components. Factory recommends to use exact make and models to assure the consistent performance and to
minimize the risk of possible ignition due to incorrect parts. In case of uncertainty or parts unavailability, contact Traulsen
technical assistance at 800-825-8220.
PROBLEM POSSIBLE SOLUTION
Condensing unit fails to start. a. Check if cord & plug has been disconnected.
Condensing unit operates for prolonged periods or
continuously.
a. Are door(s) or drawer(s) closing properly?
b. Dirty condenser or lter. Clean properly.
c. Microprocessor control setting is too high, readjust.
Food Compartment is too warm. a. Check if a large quantity of very cold or frozen food
has recently been added. Allow adequate time for the
cabinet to recover its normal operating temperature.

readjust.
