The SRCOOLNET allows the user to communicate with and control Tripp Lite’s
SRCOOL12K and SRXCOOL12K spot coolers as manageable devices on a network
accessible via a Web Browser, Network Management Station or Telnet.
1 - Preparation
1-1 Confirm Package Contents: In addition to this manual, your package should
include the following:

1-2 Locate MAC Address: The12-digitMACaddress(000667xxxxxx)islocatedon
the underside of the SRCOOLNET.
1-3 Determine Network Installation Method: Ifyournetwork'sDHCPserverwill
assignadynamicIPaddresstotheSRCOOLNETautomatically,proceedto
2 - Dynamic IP Address Assignment.IfyouwillassignastaticIPaddressto
the SRCOOLNET manually, proceed to 3 - Static IP Address Assignment. If you

2 - Dynamic IP Address Assignment
2-1 Connect the SRCOOLNET to the SRCOOL12K or SRXCOOL12K: Usingthe
dedicated connector A, connect the SRCOOLNET to the communication port on
thesideofthespotcooler(SeeFigure1onPage5).
2-2 Connect SRCOOLNET to Power: ConnecttheACAdapter Bto the SRCOOLNET
viatheportlabeled“DCPower” CandplugtheotherendintoanACpower
source(SeeFigure1onPage5).
Note: The SRCOOLNET must be plugged into a power source protected by a
UPS or Inverter/Charger in order to maintain communications during a power
outage.
2-3 Connect SRCOOLNET to Network: Connect a standard Ethernet patch cable to
theRJ45EthernetportontheSRCOOLNET. Note: This port does not support
PoE (Power over Ethernet) applications. The SRCOOLNET will attempt to obtain
anIPaddressviaDHCP.Thismaytakeaslongasseveralminutes,dependingon
your network environment.
2-4 Discover IP Address: ContactyournetworkadministratortodeterminewhichIP
addresshasbeenassignedtotheSRCOOLNETbytheDHCPserver.Thecardcan
beidentifiedontheDHCPserverbyreferringtoitsMACaddress(seeStep 1-2).
Youmaywishtorequestalong-termleaseperiodfortheIPaddress,depending
onyourapplication.AfteryouhavediscoveredtheIPaddress,proceedto
4 - Test and Configure. Note: The DHCP address is also displayed during boot-
up when connected to a computer through the configuration cable and a
terminal emulation program.

Configuration Settings
3-1 Determine IP Information: BeforeassigningastaticIPaddress,you'llneedto

computer. The circular connector Dat one end of the cable attaches to the
8-pinmini-DINserialport(labeledCONFIG) EontheSRCOOLNET(Alignthe
connectorcarefullytoavoiddamagingthepins).TheDB9connector Fat the
other end of the cable connects to the computer’s serial port G.
Note: Self-adhesive Velcro strips are included for mounting the SRCOOLNET to the
side of the A/C unit. As an alternative, the included rubber feet can be used if the
SRCOOLNET will be freestanding.
3-4 Connect SRCOOLNET to Network: Connect a standard Ethernet patch cable to
theRJ45EthernetportontheSRCOOLNET.Note: This port does not support
PoE (Power over Ethernet) applications.
3-5 Connect the SRCOOLNET to the SRCOOL12K or SRXCOOL12K: Usingthe
dedicated connector A, connect the SRCOOLNET to the communication port on
thesideofthespotcooler(RefertoFigure1).
3-6 Connect SRCOOLNET to Power: (RefertoFigure1).ConnecttheACAdapter
BtotheSRCOOLNETviatheportlabeled“DCPower” Cand plug the other
endintoanACpowersource.

3-7 Configure SRCOOLNET in Terminal Mode: Note: The SRCOOLNET must be
reinitialized by pressing the reset button (located between the "Link" and "Status"
descriptions under the RJ45 port on the SRCOOLNET), for 3 seconds. Afterthe
brief message shown below, an initialization page should appear in the terminal
emulationprogram.Pressanykeyonthekeyboardwithin5secondstochange
theSRCOOLNET'ssettings(Ifthe5-secondperiodhaselapsed,youcan
reinitializetheSRCOOLNET).
Note: The following message will appear in the terminal startup menu:

3-8 Remove Configuration Cable: Remove the configuration cable that connects
the SRCOOLNET to the computer.
4 - Test and Configure
4-1 Test Network Connection: AfteranIPaddresshasbeenassignedtothe
SRCOOLNET, try to access it with a Web browser that supports frames, forms
andJava™.OpenaWebbrowseronacomputerconnectedtotheLANandenter
theSRCOOLNET’sIPaddress.Youwillbepromptedforapassword.Theuser
nameislocaladminandthedefaultpasswordislocaladmin.Afteryouenterthe
usernameandpassword,thePowerAlertStatuspagewillappearinthebrowser
window. For more information about configuration and operation of the managed
device,refertotheUser'sGuide,includedontheCD-ROMbundledwiththe
SRCOOLNET.
Note: When using the SRCOOLNET with the SRCOOL12K or SRXCOOL12K, do
not use the cooling unit’s manual control panel.

5 - Using EnviroSense®for Remote Temperature Setpoint
SRCOOLNET supports the use of the included EnviroSense environmental sensor to
control the SRCOOL12K setpoint instead of the temperature sensor in the return
airstream. This helps ensure that supply air to important equipment is at or below a
target temperature in cases where SRCOOL12K is indirectly supplying cold air to that
equipment.
5-1 Important Considerations When Using Remote Temperature Setpoint Mode
It is important to keep the following considerations in mind when using the Remote
Temperature Setpoint feature of SRCOOLNET:
1The temperature being used for controlling the status of the attached cooling
device is the EnviroSense sensor, NOT the return air temperature. The return air
temperature may be higher or lower than the temperature Envirosense is
reporting.
2The setpoint displayed on the attached cooling device display panel will probably
NOT match the Remote Setpoint Temperature specified. Typically the setpoint
temperaturedisplayedonthedevicedisplaypanelwillbetheminimum(when
cooling)ormaximum(whennotcooling)setpointpermissiblebythecoolingunit.
3If the return air temperature at the air intake of the cooling device is outside the
limits of the cooling device, the Remote Temperature Setpoint mode will be
unable to control the temperature at the Envirosense sensor. For this reason it is
importanttoensurethatthecoolingunitairintaketemperaturebebetween17°C
and30°CfortheRemoteTemperatureSetpointtoworkcorrectly.
4If the power button on the cooling unit display panel is pressed while in Remote
Temperature Setpoint mode, the mode will be canceled.

5-2 Configuring SRCOOLNET for Remote Setpoint Usage
To use the Remote Temperature Setpoint mode of operation, ensure that the device is
connected to SRCOOLNET and installed A.FromtheUserInterface,turnthe
SRCOOL12KunitONandclickthe'Remote'checkboxontheSRCOOLNETuser
interface B. Type in the temperature setpoint you wish the SRCOOL12K to target and
press ENTER.

SRCOOL12K will now begin cooling when the temperature reading at EnviroSense
equalsorexceedsthesetpointvalueyouentered.Whenthetemperaturefallsbelow
thissetpoint,theunitwillstopcooling.Ifthe'AlwaysOn'checkboxischecked,the
fanswillremainrunningwhentheunitstopscooling.Ifthe'AlwaysOn'checkboxis
unchecked,thefanswillshutoffandtheSRCOOL12Kdisplaywillextinguish.Once
the temperature reaches the setpoint again, the unit will restart and begin cooling
until the temperature reported by EnviroSense returns below the setpoint. This cycle
will continue indefinitely until you select STOP from the SRCOOLNET user interface.

el SRCOOLNET oprimiendo por 3 segundos el botón de reinicio (ubicado entre
las descripciones de "Link" [Liga] y "Status" [Estatus] bajo el puerto RJ45 en el
SRCOOLNET). Despuésdelbrevemensajemostradoabajo,debeapareceruna
páginadeinicializaciónenelprogramadeemulacióndelaterminal.Oprima
cualquierteclaeneltecladodentrode5segundosparacambiarlas
configuracionesdelSRCOOLNET(Sihatranscurridoelperíodode5segundos,
puedereiniciarelSRCOOLNET).
Nota: En el menú de inicio de la terminal aparecerá el siguiente mensaje:
