Adjusting Microphone Sensitivity
The sensitivity of the microphone is pre-set to
t most applications. However, the mic can be
adjusted using the 1.7mm jeweler’s screwdriver
through the opening on the back of the housing.
Turn the mic pot clockwise to decrease sensitivity,
counter-clockwise to increase.
CAUTION: The mic sensitivity adjustment is
only designed for 200 turns. Constant adjustment
may cause the microphone to cease functioning.
Aviation Cord Set
Cord sets are available in various congurations
to meet the needs of most xed and rotary wing
applications.
Auxiliary Audio Input/Output Jack
Inputs secondary audio into the UFM headset
in conjunction with ATC communications. This
jack inputs full stereo audio into the headphones
regardless of the mono/stereo input of the cord set.
This same jack may also be used as a backup audio
output jack to meet TSO requirements.
Mono/Stereo Switch
Stereo communication (comm) panels have become
increasing popular, especially in general aviation
aircraft. The mono/stereo switch gives the pilot the
ability to use the headset in aircraft equipped with
either mono or stereo comm panels.
Please note that some aircraft cord set applications
may not be stereo capable. Therefore, some cord
sets will not include the mono/stereo switch.

operatinG CapabiLity and Limitations
The QuietComfort2™ relies on battery power to
operate, battery failure results in all audio being
lost in the headphones. However, earbuds plugged
into the Auxiliary Audio Jack do not require battery
power and will maintain communications ability.
The UFM microphone is powered by the aircraft
comm panel. In case of QC2 battery failure,
transmit abilities are maintained.
operation
Plugging the UFM into the QuietComfort2™
Holding the UFM by the housing, gently push it
into the QuietComfort2™. The adapter should
click rmly into place. Do not force the adapter
into place as this may damage the UFM or QC2.
Using the Noise Canceling Microphone
For best performance, place the microphone
approximately 1/4” (6 mm) in front of the mouth.
Using the Auxiliary Audio Input Jack
Any stereo audio device can be plugged into the
auxiliary input jack, located at the base of the
microphone housing, using a standard 3.5mm Mini-
Stereo Cord. The volume of the audio input into
this jack is controlled at the device.
CAUTION: Do not use the auxiliary audio
feature if it interferes with ATC communications.
Using the Volume (Impedance) Switch
The UFM comes with a three position volume
switch located on top of the microphone housing.
Forward for louder audio and aft for softer audio.
Using the Mono/Stereo Switch
The Mono/Stereo switch is located in the cord set.
Place the switch in the one dot position for mono
comm panels, two dots for stereo panels.
Using Earbuds (for TSO Compliance)
For pilots requiring TSO compliant headsets, the
auxiliary audio jack can be used as a backup audio
output. Simply plug an earbud into the auxiliary
audio jack and place the earbuds in the ear or inside
the ear cup of the QC2.
Disconnecting the UFM
To remove the UFM from the QC2, grip the adapter
by the housing and gently pull downward away
from the headphones.
