1 Overview
1.1 Introduction
UT-600X serial device server, also known as terminal server or serial server, is a converter
between the asynchronous serial port RS232/422/485 and Ethernet. It is an intelligent device
that with CPU, embedded OS, and the full TCP/IP protocol. It supports data bidirectional
transparent transmission between RS232/422/485 and Ethernet, enabling the RS232/422/485
serial port device to connect to the network immediately.
Product features: supports dynamic IP (DHCP) and static IP, supports gateway and proxy server,
can transfer data over the Internet. It provides data bidirectional transparent transmission,
realize serial port to TCP/IP function, users do not need to make any changes to the original
system. It supports ARP, IP, TCP, HTTP, ICMP, SOCKET, UDP and other protocols. All programs
provide set up wizard, easy to operate.

system halted;
10/100M, auto negotiation;
Each port supports full signals: RXD, TXD, DTR, DSR, RTS, CTS, GND;
32 bit s embedded CPU 150MHz,32M RAM;
1.2.2 Software Feature
Supports ARP, IP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, HTTP, TELNET, DNS, DHCP;
Supports Windows extended COM mode;
Full Windows platform based extension serial port (com) driver, and provide a
concise and easy to use Windows platform management program, in Windows
platform can drive up to 256 serial ports. In this mode, the serial ports of the
UT-600X serial device server can be mapped to the local COM port of the Window
host. This means that using these serial ports is like using a local COM port on the
host and means that all existing software or communication modules that are
applied to the original serial port device can be used directly without modification;
Supports ARP;
Terminal server parameter configuration;
It can be configured via web connection to a terminal server;
Supports software upgrade;
1.2.3 Security Feature
UT-600X serial device server adopts the following security mechanisms to ensure that users can
use the product safely.
The management password can be set, and only the system administrator can manage the
terminal server, so as to prevent unauthorized personnel from arbitrarily modifying
UT-600X serial device server, and ensure the security of UT-600X.

2.3 Ethernet Port Definition
10/100BaseT(X) Ethernet port
10/100BaseT (X) Ethernet port is located in the front panel of the device; the interface type is RJ45,
the pin distribution of RJ45 port is defined as below figure. It adopts unshielded twisted pair (UTP) or
shielded twisted pair (STP) for connection, the distance should be less than 100m. 100Mbps
connection adopts 100 Ω line cat.5, and 10Mbps connection adopts 100 Ω cat.3, cat.4, cat.5.
The RJ45 port supports auto MDI/MDI-X. For MDI connection, pins 1, 2, 3 and 6 are connected
accordingly. For MDI-X port of serial device server, it adopts cross line: 1→3, 2→6, 3→1, 6→2. The
10Base-T/100Base-TX pin definitions in MDI/MDI-X applications are shown as below:

3 Login the Webpage
3.1 Login Web Managed Client
Open the Web browser, input the default address: http://192.168.1.125, press enter.
The login window is shown as below, it supports different language. The default user name is “admin”,
and the password is “admin”. Click the “login” button to check the device system status information.
Explanations
1. When login the device, the IP network segment of PC should be consistent with the serial device
server network segment.
2. When login at the first time, the IP address of PC is set to 192.168.1.x (x represents 1~254, except
125), and the subnet mask is set to 255.255.255.0, but the IP of PC cannot be the same as the
serial device server, it means can’t be 192.168.1.125.
3. The WebServer of this device only provides read-only mode. If the user or password input is
wrong or not entered, the browser will directly jump to read-only mode, and the user cannot set
the relevant parameters.If the user needs to modify the corresponding parameters, please fill in
the user name and password correctly.

Explanations

Your Reliable Partner in Industrial IoT
UTEK TECHNOLOGY
Page 14
The terminal can connect to the serial device server through PC by using Telnet program, which needs
to meet the following conditions:
1. Enable the device TELNET service.
2. User needs to know the IP address of the serial device server, which can be obtained through
modification (IP command can be used under the system management view).
3. If the terminal PC and the serial device server are connected to the same LAN, its IP address must
be set in the same network segment. Otherwise, the terminal and the serial device server must
cross routers.
If the above conditions are met, TELNET can be used to log in to the serial device server for
configuration.
2. Example
#Before login the serial device server through Telnet, user needs to enter "Telnet+ space + product IP"
for verification.
Enter “enter” key at PC, it is shown as below:

4.3.4 Ping
1. Interface Description
Ping is a command used to check whether the network is connected or the speed of the network.
According to the uniqueness of the IP address on the network, it send a packet to the target IP
address, and then requires the other party to return a packet of the same size to determine whether
the two network devices are connected. Click the "basic > ping" menu in the navigation to enter the
"ping" interface. It is shown as below:
