Connecting the scanner to devices
Vasco Translator and Vasco Traveler
Press and hold the On/O button for about 3 seconds on the scanner. When the Power LED
light turns green, turn on your Vasco device.
Press the Bluetooth button on the connection bar, at the bottom of the screen of the
main translator and wait a few seconds.
(In the Vasco Traveler device you must rst run the Vasco Translator application).
If the LED notication on the scanner ashes blue, it means that the scanner has been suc-
cessfully connected to your device.
Bluetooth icon status in the Vasco devices
No connection with the scanner. Press to connect the device.
The connection with the scanner is in process. Wait a few seconds.
The scanner is connected. You can use the device.
The connection to the scanner has been terminated. Press to resume connection.
Scanning
Turn on the scanner and remove the cap from the end of the scanner. Make sure that the
scanner is connected to the Vasco device. Select source and target language in the Vasco
Translator application. Set the scanner at an angle of approximately 70° to the ground, and
then gently press the tip of the scanner. Move the scanner in a straight line, make sure that
the scanned area is located within the„>”symbol, located at the tip of the scanner.
The default scanning direction is „from left to right” this can be changed in the scanner
settings.
Start scanning 1cm before a row of text begins and nish 1cm further than it ends.
Make sure that when scanning the LED notication lights up blue.
When the scanned text appears on the screen of the Vasco translator, press the 3 function
button on the scanner to start the translation. After a few seconds, the translated sentence
appears in the bottom text box.

The scanner may not recognize punctuation marks and italics.
When scanning a long sentence, it is possible to correct it manually in the text area of the
Vasco Translator.
Scanner Settings
Press and hold the button until the scan setting menu appears.
Scanning direction
- from left to right for right-handed people (by default)
- from left to right for a left-handed people
- from right to left for left-handers
Image quality - select the resolution of 600 dpi (default) /300 dpi
- Chinese text recognition.
Charging the scanner body
The Vasco scanner is powered by a built-in rechargeable lithium-polymer battery.
Charging the battery is done by connecting the scanner with a USB cable to the charger
and then connecting it to a power outlet.
You can charge the scanner via a direct connection with a cable to a USB port on your PC
or laptop.
While charging the device in standby mode, the power LED should light orange and red if
the scanner is turned o. The LED turns o when the scanner is fully charged.
Warning! To charge the scanner it is recommended to use dedicated accessories
supplied with the kit. The use of accessories other than those recommended may
result in damage to the scanner.
Cleaning the scanner
If the scanner is dirty or a scanned image is not clear, you can clean the tip by gently rub-
bing it with a cotton cloth soaked in clean water, as shown in the following gure.

Do not use alcohol and other cleaning chemicals. Avoid pouring water on the scanner, as
this may result in its damage.
Troubleshooting
Warning! When running the scanner for the rst time, it is strongly recommended to
turn it On before you run the Vasco device.
To prevent a connectivity issue, don’t tap the icon while the scanner is turned O.
If the scanner doesn’t respond and the Bluetooth icon shows , which means -“The con-
nection with the scanner is in progress”:
- Make sure the scanner is On and the power led is green.
- Reboot the working Vasco device by pushing and holding the Power ON/OFF button for 2
seconds, then tap “Reboot” to reboot the device and conrm by pressing “OK”.
- Wait a few seconds until the connection is On and the Bluetooth icon status shows

Scanner-Stift mit Vasco Geräten verbinden:
Vasco Translator / Vasco Traveler
1. Halten Sie den An/Aus-Schalter am Scanner-Stift für circa 3 Sekunden gedrückt.
2. Sobald die Energie LED Anzeige am Scanner-Stift grün leuchtet, schalten Sie Ihr Vasco
Gerät ein.
3. Falls es sich bei Ihrem Vasco Gerät um einen Vaso Traveler handelt, starten Sie die Vasco
Translator Anwendung auf dem Traveler (bei Vasco Translator Geräten ist das nicht nötig).
4. Tippen Sie auf das Bluetooth Symbol am unteren Bildschirmrand des Vasco Geräts
und warten Sie einige Sekunden.
5. Wenn die Signal LED Anzeige am Scanner-Stift blau blinkt, war der Verbindungsaufbau
erfolgreich.
Sollte der Verbindungsaufbau fehlschlagen, fahren Sie Ihr Vasco Gerät bitte herunter, star-
ten Sie es neu und wiederholen Sie die oben aufgeführten Schritte.
Statusanzeige der Bluetooth-Verbindung auf dem
Bildschirm des Vasco Geräts
Keine Verbindung zum Scanner. Tippen Sie auf die Schaltäche, um die Ver-
bindung herzustellen.
Die Verbindung zum Scanner wird aufgebaut. Warten Sie ein paar
Sekunden.
Der Scanner-Stift ist verbunden und einsatzbereit.
Die Verbindung zum Scanner-Stift wurde beendet. Tippen Sie, um die Ver-
bindung wieder herzustellen.
Scannen
Schalten Sie den Scanner-Stift ein und ziehen Sie die Schutzkappe von der Spitze.Vergewis-
sern Sie sich, dass die Verbindung zwischen Scanner und Vasco hergestellt ist (siehe oben).
Stellen Sie in der Vasco Translator Anwendung die gewünschte Quell- und Zielsprache ein.
Setzen Sie den Scanner in einem Winkel von ungefähr 70° auf und ziehen Sie die Spitze mit
sanftem Druck über den Text. Bewegen Sie den Scanner-Stift in graden Linien, entlang der
Textzeilen. Achten Sie darauf, dass sich der zu scannende Text im Bereich des „>” Symbols
an der Spitze des Scanners bendet.
Die Standardeinstellung für die Scan-Richtung ist „von links nach rechts”. Diese Standar-
drichtung kann in den Scanner-Einstellungen geändert werden.

Scannen Sie jeweils auch den Bereich 1 cm vor dem Anfang einer Textzeile und 1 cm nach
dem Ende der Zeile.
Vergewissern Sie sich, dass die LED Signal Anzeige beim Scannen blau leuchtet.
Sobald der eingescannte Text auf dem Bildschirm Ihres Vasco Geräts erscheint,
drücken Sie die Funktionstaste am Scanner-Stift (siehe Abbildung oben, Taste
Nr. 3). Dadurch wird die Übersetzung gestartet. Sie erscheint kurz darauf in der unteren
Textbox von Vasco Translator.
Falls z.B. Satzzeichen oder kursive Schrift nicht korrekt erkannt wurden, können Sie den
betreenden Text in der Textbox korrigieren, bevor Sie die Übersetzung starten.
Scanner Einstellungen
Tippen Sie auf die Schaltäche und halten Sie sie gedrückt bis das Menü für die Scan-
ner-Einstellungen erscheint.
Scan-Richtung
- von links nach rechts (für Rechtshänder) - Standardeinstellung
- von links nach rechts (für Linkshänder)
- von rechts nach links (für Linkshänder)
Bildqualität – Wählen Sie zwischen Auösungen von 600 dpi (Standard) / 300 dpi
- Chinesische Schriftzeichen Erkennung
Scanner-Stift laden
Der Vasco Scanner-Stift verfügt über einen eingebauten, wiederaufladbaren
Lithium-Polymer-Akku.
Um den Akku des Scanners aufzuladen, verbinden Sie ihn über das USB Kabel mit dem
Ladegerät. Stecken Sie dann das Ladegerät in die Steckdose.
Sie können den Scanner auch auaden, indem Sie ihn über das USB-Kabel mit einem USB
Anschluss an Ihrem PC oder Laptop verbinden.
Wenn der Scanner im Stand-by-Modus geladen wird, leuchtet die Energie LED Anzeige
orange. Wenn der Scanner im ausgeschalteten Zustand geladen wird, leuchtet die Anzeige
rot und erlischt, sobald der Scanner vollständig geladen ist.
ACHTUNG! Zur Auadung sollte nur das mitgelieferte Zubehör verwendet werden.
Die Verwendung anderer Komponenten kann den Scanner beschädigen

Scanner-Stift reinigen
Falls der Scanner verschmutzt und die gescanten Bilder unklar sind, können Sie die Spitze
reinigen, indem Sie sie sehr vorsichtig mit einem sauberen, feuchten Tuch abtupfen (siehe
Abbildung).
Verwenden Sie auf keinen Fall Alkohol oder andere chemische Substanzen für die Reini-
gung. Der Scanner darf auch nicht mit ießendem Wasser in Berührung kommen.
Fehler beheben
ACHTUNG! Wenn Sie den Scanner-Stift zum ersten Mal verwenden schalten Sie die-
sen bitte vor dem Vasco Gerät ein.
Um Verbindungsprobleme zu vermeiden, tippen Sie bei ausgeschaltetem Scanner bitte
nicht auf das folgende Symbol: . Wenn der Scanner nicht reagiert und das Bluetooth
Symbol mit einen Verbindungsaufbau anzeigt:
- Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Scanner eingeschaltet ist und die Energie LED Anzeige grün
leuchtet
- Starten Sie das Vasco Gerät neu, indem Sie den Ein-/Aus-Schalter 2 Sekunden gedrückt
halten, dann auf„Reboot“ tippen und mit„OK“ bestätigen
- Warten Sie ein paar Sekunden bis die Verbindung hergestellt ist und das Bluetooth Sym-
bol folgendes anzeigt :
