Steering wheel adjustment:
A djust po sition
Adjust the steering wheel only when the
vehicle is stationary.
Move the unlocking lever upwards, adjust
t h e w he el to th e de si re d p o s iti on , th e n
release the lever.
Push the lever firmly downwards to ensure
that the w heel is locked in position.

Fitting seat belt:
Draw seat belt smoothly from
inertia reel, guide over shoulder
and engage in buckle
The belt must not be twisted at any point.
The lap belt must lie snugly against the
body. The backrest must not be tilted back
too far (recommended tilting angle
approx. 25°).
To release belt, press red button on belt
buckle.

Move lever on underside of interior mirror
housing to reduce dazzle at night.

mirrors 3:
Switch in door pan el
Operational with the ignition on or off.
Turn switch to left: switch operates left-
hand mirror.
Turn sw itch to right: switch operates right-
hand mirror.
Switch in central position: mirror
adjustment is off.
The lower aspherical mirrors are not
adjustable.

Dipped and main beam :
Headlight flash:
Pull stalk towards steering wheel
To change the headlight beam, pull the
stalk tow ards th e s tee ring w he el, th en
relea se when a click is felt.
Pulling the stalk towards the steering wheel
to the first stop operates the headlight
fla s h .
Fog lights:
7=Off
>= On (front fog lights 3only)
>r = On (front fog lights 3and
fog tail light)
The fog lights will only illuminate when the
ignition and headlights are switched on.

Turn signal lights:

Upwards = Right turn
Downwards = Left turn
When the stee ring wheel is turned back, the
stalk automatically returns to its original
position. This willnot happen when making
a m inor s tee ring manoeuvre such as la ne
changing.
When lane changing, move stalk part way
to first stop. When released, stalk will
spring back.
For operation of the turn signal lights when
towing - see pages 20 and 122.
Hazard warning flashers:
On = Press button ¨
Off = Press ¨again
When the hazard warning system is
actuated, the button's control indicators
flash in unison with the turn signal lights.
Horn:
Press anypart of the steering wheel centre
to activate the horn.

Return the stalk to its original position to

The rain sensor detectsthe amount of
water on the windscreen anda utomatically
re gulates the wind screen wipe r frequ ency .
The sensitivity of thesystem can be
adjusted by rotating the variable wipe:
Less sensitive = rotate down
More sensitve = rotate up
Upon starting the engine, automatic
wiping will need to be reselected.

Windscreen wash system:
Pull stalk towards steering wheel
Short pull
The wiper operates for one c ycle.
Long pull
Washfluid issprayed onto the windscreen,
at the same tim e the wiper operates for
four cycles.
Check regularly that the windscreen wash
system is operating efficiently.
O n ve hicle s with rain se ns or 3, keep the
sensor area clean.

Back door and tailgate window
wash wipe system 3:
Rotate switch
0=Off
e=Wiper
f=Wash
Wash fluid is sprayed onto the window
when the sta lk is moved to the second
position. The switch isspring loaded and
will return to the ’wiper’ position when
released.
Check regularly that the w indow wash
system is operating efficiently.

Manual transmission:
o=Neutral
1 to 5/ 6= 1st to 5th or 6th 3gear
R=Reversegear
Wh e n sh ifting u p from 4th to 5th ge ar,
pressure must be ex erte d towards the right
at the beginning of the shift operation.
When shifting from 5th to 4th gear, do not
exert any force towards the left.
Reverse gear: with vehicle stationary,
declutch, pull upcollar and move shift lever
to the left against resistance.
If the gear does not engage: with lever in
neutral, release clutch pedal and depress
again, then repea t gear selection.
Tecshift 3:
N=Neutral
o= Centre position
- = Shift to lower gear
+ = Sh ift to higher gear
A/M = Switch between
automatic or manual
mode
R=Reverse
The selector lever must be moved in the
appropriate direction as far as it will go.
Upon release, it automatically returns to
the centre position. Pay heed to the
gear / mode indicator in the transmission
display.
