Disassembly Procedures
Safety Guidelines
This chapter contains step by step proce ures on how to remove an e-install components from the
computer. Use the following safety gui elines to ensure your personal safety. Each proce ure
inclu e in this chapter assumes that you are preparing your computer for recycling an isposal. By
performing any of these procedures you acknowledge that any remaining warranty applicable to
your computer will be voided. Before you start any of the procedures in this chapter, make sure to
read the following safety guidelines and the respective instructions within the chapter.
CAUTION!
Turn off your computer an isconnect all power sources before opening the computer cover
or panels.
To avoi electrostatic ischarge, groun yourself by using a wrist groun ing strap or by
perio ically touching an unpainte metal surface at the same time as touching a connector on
the back of the computer.
Take off any metal objects on your arms or fingers such as bracelets, rings or watches an make
sure your han s are completely ry. Even if your unit is unplugge , there may still be some
remaining electric charge.
If a component oes not come out easily, o not forcefully remove it. Instea , check that you
are removing it correctly an that no wires or other parts are in the way.
When you isconnect a cable, pull on its connector or on its pull-tab, not on the cable itself.
Some cables have connectors with locking tabs; if you are isconnecting this type of cable, press
in on the locking tabs before you isconnect the cable.
Recommended Equipment
The following equipment are recommen e to o the following maintenance proce ures:

Flat screw river
Philips screw river
Poly rive screw river
Plastic tweezers
Flat plastic pry

Pre-disassembly Instructions
Do the following prior to starting any maintenance proce ures:
1.
Place the system on a stable work surface.
2.
Remove AC power cor from the system an peripherals
3.
Remove all cables from the system.
Make sure the system is completely powere off.

Expansion Box 2 Cover Removal
1. Remove the Expansion Box 2 Cover
1.1. Remove the screw securing the expansion box 2 cover to the expansion box.
1.2. Detach the expansion box 2 cover from the expansion box.

VGA Car Removal
2. Remove the VGA Card
2.1. Remove the VGA car from its slot.
Note: WEEE Annex VII component. A circuit boar >10 cm2 has been highlighte with the yellow

Chassis Door Removal
3. Remove the Chassis Cover
1.1. Remove the screw securing the chassis cover to the chassis.
1.2. Detach the chassis cover from the chassis.

HDD Removal
4. Remove the HDD
4.1. Sli e the HDD mo ule out of the chassis.
4.2. Detach the HDD from the bracket.
4.3. Detach the rubber gaskets from the HDD.

SSD Mo ule Removal
5. Remove the SSD modules
5.1. Disconnect the plastic tab securing the SSD1 mo ule to the mainboar .
5.2. Remove the SSD mo ule from the mainboar .

5.3. Detach the thermal pa from the mainboar .
5.4. Repeat Steps 5.1~5.3 to remove SSD2 mo ule.

WLAN Mo ule Removal
6. Remove the WLAN module
6.1. Remove the screw securing the WLAN mo ule to the mainboar .
6.2. Detach the WLAN bracket from the WLAN mo ule.

6.3. Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables from the WLAN mo ule.
NOTE: For reference uring machine reassembly, note which cable color correspon s to the main an auxiliary
connectors.
6.4. Remove the WLAN mo ule from the mainboar .

Heatsink Fan Removal
7. Remove the Heatsink an
7.1. Disconnect the heatsink fan cable from the mainboar .
7.2. Detach the heatsink fan from the mainboar .

Memory Mo ule Removal
8. Remove the Memory modules
8.1. Release the latch on both si es of the DIMM slot (1) an remove the DIMM mo ule from the slot (2).

8.2. Repeat Step 8.1 to remove the remaining memory mo ule.

Thermal Mo ule Removal
WARNING: The heatsink becomes very hot when the system is on. Wait for the heatsink to cool off before
procee ing with below steps.
9. Remove the Thermal Module
9.1. Loosen the three (3) captive screws securing the thermal mo ule to the mainboar .
9.2. Remove the thermal mo ule from the mainboar .

CPU Removal
IMPORTANT: Before removing the CPU from the mainboar , make sure to create a backup file of all important
ata.
WARNING: The CPU becomes very hot when the system is on. Allow it to cool off first before han ling.
10. Remove the CPU
10.1. Press the loa lever an move it to the left to release the loa lever from the retention tab.
10.2. Pull the loa lever to release the CPU cover plate from the retaining post.

10.3. Open the CPU cover plate.
10.4. Lift the CPU from the socket.

Optional Port Mo ule Removal
11. Remove the Optional Port Module (Display Port / HDMI / D-SUB / USB Type A/C)
11.1. Remove the two screws securing the optional port mo ule to the mainboar .
11.2. Detach the optional port mo ule from the mainboar .

11.3. Remove the screw securing the optional port mo ule to the port bracket.
11.4. Remove the optional port mo ule from the bracket.

Expansion Box 2 Front Bezel Removal
12. Remove the Expansion Box 2 ront Bezel
12.1. Disengage the latches securing the front bezel to the expansion box 2 chassis (1) then etach the front bezel from
the expansion box 2 chassis (2).
