Setup Guide
Package Content
Inspect the packaging carton. Make sure the Versatile H.264 DVR is properly elivere . Remove all
items from the box an make sure the box contains the following items.

Front Panel
1 Channels
1. In Live an Playback mo es, press any key to view the correspon ing
vi eo in full-screen.
2. In input interface, 1~10 can be use for irect input of numbers 0~9.
3. In Dome Camera Control mo e, 1 is for entering the Set/ Go preset
menu; 2 is for hi ing or isplaying the hint screen; 11~16 is for quick
access of preset points 1~6.
2 Po er LED It lights up when power source is connecte .
3 Record LED It blinks when vi eos are being recor e .
4 Alarm LED It lights up when an alarm is triggere .
5 Net ork LED It lights up when network is connecte . In a ition, it blinks when ata is
being transmitte via the network.
6 DOME Press this key to enter Dome Camera Control mo e.
7 MODE Press this key to view in full-screen or multiple win ow mo es.
8 SEQ Press this key to start automatic sequence isplay of cameras.
9 MENU Press this key to enter the OSD setup menu.

1. In OSD menu or selection interface, press these key to make the
selection or save settings.

USB 2.0 Port The USB 2.0 port allows users to connect an external USB evice to the
unit, such as a USB ThumbDrive or a USB mouse.

Direction Keys
1. In Zoom mo e, these keys function as normal irection keys.
2. In the OSD setup menu, the irection keys are use to move the
cursor to previous or next fiel s. To change the value in the selecte
fiel , press UP / DOWN keys.
Rear Panel
1 LAN 10/100M
(RJ-45)
The DVR is capable of networking. Once the unit is connecte to the
LAN network, users can remotely access the DVR through the remote
software on a PC.
2 Main Monitor-
VGA(optional)
The DVR can connect to a monitor via an optional VGA connector.
3 Audio In
Au io In connectors are for the DVR to connect au io source evices.
For 4CH mo els, 4 RCA Au io In connectors will be provi e ; whereas
for 8CH an 16CH mo els, a D-Sub Au io In connector is provi e .
4 Call Monitor
Audio Out
Call Monitor Au io Out RCA connectors are provi e for the DVR to
connect au io output evices (e.g. amplifie speakers). (8CH &16CH
models only)
5 Call Monitor
(BNC)
The call monitor is use to isplay full screen vi eo of all installe
cameras in sequence. The BNC Call Monitor connector allows users to
connect the DVR with an optional call monitor. (8CH &16CH models
only)
6 Video In
(BNC)
A group of BNC connectors is provi e for vi eo input streams from
installe cameras.
7 USB Port This USB port allows users to connect a PS/2 mouse via a converter.
8 Alarm I/O &
RS-485
The DVR provi es alarm I/O an RS485 ports that offer users the
flexibility require to connect the DVR to other evices.
9 Main Monitor
Audio Out
Main Monitor Au io Out RCA connectors are provi e for the DVR to
connect au io output evices (e.g. amplifie speakers).
10 Main Monitor-
BNC The DVR can connect to a monitor via a BNC connector.

Po er On the DVR
Please follow the proper power on proce ures to avoi amaging the DVR.
• Connect all necessary components, e.g. monitor an cameras, before power on the DVR.
• Check the type of power source before connecting the power a aptor to the DVR. The
acceptable power input is between AC110V ~ AC240V.
Select Vie ing Mode:
• Press MODE repeate ly to select the wante isplay mo e. The available viewing mo es are
full-screen, 2×2, 3×3, an 4×4 split-win ow.
• Press FREEZE to pause the current viewing image.
• Refer to the following for a brief escription of some icons that will be shown on the monitor.

Basic Setup
Enter the OSD main menu an setup some basic configuration of the DVR. The basic configuration
can be set via either the DVR or DVRRemote, the remote software.
Enter OSD Main Menu:
• Press MENU to enter the OSD main menu.
• Enter username an passwor . The efault username an passwor is admin an 1234.
• Press MENU again to quickly input the efault username “admin”.
• It is strongly suggeste to change the passwor to prevent unauthorize access.
Date / Time Setting:
Follow steps below to setup ate/time before the recor ing starts.
• Select <Date/Time> in System Setup menu.
• Select the ate an time using LEFT/RIGHT keys; then a just the value using UP/DOWN keys.
• The new ate an time settings take effect after the changes are confirme .
Language Setting:
If users wish to change language of the DVR system, follow the steps below.
• Select <Language> in System Setup menu an press ENTER.
• Press the UP/DOWN keys to select the esire language.
Net ork Setup
Configure the LAN setup for the DVR to properly function with Ethernet connection.
• From OSD main menu, select <System Setup> <Net ork Setup>, set the <LAN Select>
item to <LAN> or <PPPoE> accor ing to the network application, an enter <LAN Setup>.
• For DHCP user, set the DHCP to <ON>. The IP a ress, Netmask, Gateway an DNS settings
are retrieve from network servers. DHCP is ynamic that the settings change from time to time.
• For Non-DHCP user, set the DHCP to <OFF>. Enter an IP a ress, Netmask, Gateway, an
DNS settings. Please obtain the information from the network service provi er.
• To change the IP a ress, Netmask, Gateway an DNS value, press UP/DOWN keys to move
the cursor to the item. Use LEFT/RIGHT keys to access each section of the value an press
ENTER, then change the value using UP/DOWN keys.
• PPPoE users must set the <PPPoE Account>, <PPPoE Pass ord> an <PPPoE Max Idle>
as well.
• When the settings are complete, press ENTER to confirm an save the settings; or ESC to
abort.

Dome Camera Control
Dome Camera Connection & Settings:
• See section Pin Definition of Alarm I/O & RS-485, an Au io In for RS-485 port pin efinition.
• Refer to the following figure. Connect the R+, R- terminals on the ome camera to the D+, D-
terminals on the RS-485 port by RS-485 cable respectively.
• To set up ome camera’s protocol an ID, press MENU to access the OSD main menu, an
select <Camera Setup>. The available protocols inclu e <DSCP>, <AD422>, <Pelco D>,
<Pelco P>, <Fastrax 2>, <JVC>, <Panasonic_C>, an <Panasonic_N>. The efault is
<None>. Note that ID number must match the ID a ress efine by the ome camera.
• To configure the RS-485 parameters, select <System Setup> from OSD main menu, an then
select <RS485 Setup>. The efault RS-485 settings are 9600 Bau , 8 Data Bits, 1 Stop Bit an
No Parity.

Basic Playback Operation
Search by Time:
• Press SEARCH to enter the Search menu.
• Move the cursor to “From” an press ENTER will start playing recor e vi eo from the specifie
“From” time.
• Move the cursor to “En ” an press ENTER will start playing recor e vi eo from the specifie
“En ” time.
• Move the cursor to “Select” an press LEFT/RIGHT to choose ate/ time. Press ENTER an
a just the values by UP/DOWN keys. Press ENTER again to confirm or press ESC to abort.
• Move the cursor to <Begin Playback> an press ENTER to start playing back recor e vi eo
of the selecte time. Press PLAY/STOP again to return to live vi eo.
NOTE: If there is no available recor e vi eo that matches the specifie time an ate,
the unit starts to playback from the next available vi eo.
Calendar Search:
• Press SEARCH to enter the Search menu.
• Move the cursor to <Calendar Search> an press ENTER. A calen ar will show up.
• Move the cursor to year/ month an press ENTER. Then press UP/DOWN to a just the value
an press ENTER again to confirm.
• Move the cursor to select any ay shown in bol font, an a time ruler will be isplaye .
• Press ENTER an an arrow will show up above the time ruler. Press LEFT/RIGHT to select a
esire time. Alternatively, move the cursor to the time shown at the bottom. Press ENTER an
a just the values of hour/ minute/ secon via UP/DOWN keys.
• Note that the time blocks highlighte in re represent events occurre .
• Move the cursor to the playback icon (►) an press ENTER to start playing back the vi eo.
Search by Event:
• Press SEARCH to enter the Search menu.
• To search event vi eo that was recor e on a specific camera, use LEFT/RIGHT keys to move
the cursor an press ENTER to select or e-select a channel.
• Move the cursor to <Event List> an press ENTER to list the event vi eo of the selecte
channels.
• The list isplays each event by ate, time, triggere camera an alarm type. The latest recor e
event vi eo will be liste on the top. To exit the event list, press ESC.
• Use UP/DOWN keys to scroll through the Event List. Press ENTER to play back the selecte
event recor .
NOTE: The event list isplays only the first 1024 events; as some events are elete ,
others are isplaye .

Playback Controls:
Button Description
LEFT The button is for rewin ing the recor e vi eo while playing back. Press the button
repeate ly to increase the spee of reverse playback by 1×, 2×, 4×, 8×, 16×, or 32×.
RIGHT The button is use to play the recor e vi eo fast forwar . Press the button
repeate ly to increase the spee of forwar playback by 1×, 2×, 4×, 8×, 16×, or 32×.
FREEZE
Press FREEZE to pause the playback vi eo. When the recor e vi eo is pause ,
press LEFT / RIGHT to resume playback vi eo single step reverse / forwar
respectively. Press FREEZE again to continue playing back vi eo.
Play/Stop
Press to start the playback or to stop playing back vi eo an return to live mo e.
Connect the DVR via the Remote Soft are
Setup Requirements:
• Make sure the PC is connecte to the Internet.
• Obtain IP a ress of the Versatile H.264 DVR. To check the DVR’s IP a ress, press MENU on
the front panel an select <System Setup> <Net ork Setup> <LAN Setup> <IP> to
check the IP.
Changing Internet Setting:
• Start the IE; select <Tools> from the main menu of the browser, then <Internet Options> an
then click the <Security> tab.
• Select <Trusted sites> an click <Sites> to specify its security setting.
• Uncheck “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone”. Type the IP a ress of the
unit in fiel an click <Add> to a this website to the zone.
• In the Security Level area, click <Custom Level>. Un er <ActiveX controls and plug-ins>,
set all items to <Enable> or <Prompt>.
• Click <OK> to accept the settings an close the <Security Settings> screen.
Using the Remote Soft are:
• Start the IE an enter the IP a ress of the Versatile H.264 DVR in the a ress bar.
• The ActiveX controls an plug-ins ialog will show twice for confirmation; click <YES> to accept
ActiveX plug-ins. The DVRRemote plug-ins will be ownloa e an installe on the PC
automatically when the connection is successfully ma e.
NOTE: Do not enter any lea ing “0” characters in the a ress, for example,
“192.068.080.006” shoul be entere “192.68.80.6”.
NOTE: If the efault trigger port 80 is change into another one, port 81 for example,
then the IP a ress shoul be entere as “192.68.80.6:81”.

• Version verification starts automatically to verify whether DVRRemote was installe . This
process may take up to 30 secon s.
• When the software is completely ownloa e an installe , the Login Screen is isplaye .
• Enter the username an passwor . The efault usernames an passwor s are admin / 1234
an user / 4321.

DVRRemote Playback
Playback Remote Video:
• Click <Play> on the main win ow toolbar, an then <Remote Playback> tab.
• The <From> an <To> on top of the screen isplay the ate an time from which recor e
vi eo is available for playback.
• Choose <Playback> in <Select> fiel for playback recor e vi eo.
• Select the ate an time of the segment to play back from the <Start> fiel . The ate an time
can be change either by typing esire numbers irectly or using the arrow buttons.
• Click <OK> to start the playback, or click <Close> to abort.
Playback Local *.drv File:
• Click <Play> on the main win ow toolbar, an then <Local Playback> tab.
• Click <Open> an the file selection screen is isplaye . Select the *. rv vi eo file to playback
an click <OK>.
• Click <OK> to start the playback, or click <Cancel> to abort.
• View the vi eo playback using the Playback controls.
• To en the playback, click <Live> to return to live vi eo.
Playback Local *.avi Files:
• Start the win ows me ia player or other me ia player from <Start> menu (or any other possible
access).
• Select <File> an then <Open>.
• Select the wante *.avi file, an click <Open>.
NOTE: The *.avi files for each channel are store separately. Therefore the vi eo can
be playe back in single channel, full screen mo e only.
Playback Event Video
• Click SEARCH on the main win ow toolbar. The Event List appears.
• Scroll through the Event List an highlight the intereste events.
• Double-click on the esire event to view the event vi eo.

Mobile Vie Soft are
Mobile View software allows users to timely monitor via a mobile evice with internet connection.
Refer to below for brief intro uctions of installation (JAVA mobile evices) an basic operations.
Do nload and Installation:
• Access the java installation menu on a JAVA mobile evice an connect the website that
provi es Mobile View software to irectly ownloa the software to the mobile evice.
• After the ownloa is complete , follow the instruction shown on the JAVA mobile evice to
installe Mobile View software.
Basic Operation:
Locate the installe Mobile View software an launch it. The main win ow will be shown as below
on the left.
• Access <Connect to evice> an users can create bookmarks for DVRs or IP cameras via
entering hostname/IP address, port, username, an pass ord of the evices.
• If a DVR is connecte , the available functions will be liste as shown above on the right. Users
can select <Live Monitoring> to view the live vi eo. <Normal Playback> an <Event Playback>
allow users to playback recor e normal an event vi eos. <Menu Config> enables users to
setup part of the DVR’s configuration.
• If an IP camera is connecte , live vi eo of the IP camera will be irectly shown on the screen.
• <Snapshot Viewer> is where the snapshot pictures can be viewe after they are save to the
atabase of the mobile evices.

information of all functions.
