For the correct way of handling your new boiler, please read the instructions for its use (especially the Chap. 6 –
Boiler operation by user, Chap. 7 - Maintenance and Chap. 9 – Important warnings). Please follow the current
information and take notice of instructions issued by the manufacturer or installation company that installed your
boiler so that the long-life trouble-free operation of your boiler can be guaranteed both to your and our satisfaction.

Hot-water automatic solid fuel boiler VIADRUS A3W is destined particularly for heating the family houses, cottages,
office buildings, small premises etc. It is designed for the combustion of lignite or pellets.
Boiler Advantages:

! Important warning:
The stated thermal technical parameters vary in dependence on the sort, quality and moisture of the used
fuel. Therefore some corrections might be necessary when setting the stoking cycle (time for fuel feed
versus time for fuel afterburning). For example if unburned fuel slivers appear on the grate and in the ash-
pan it stands to reason that stoking is faster than burning and the stoking cycle must be reduced – see
parameters description (chap. 6.2.3).
Parameters of the prescribed fuel – fuel used for tests in SZÚ:
• water content max. 12 % (pellets) max. 20 % (lignite)
• volatile combustible content 28 – 40 %
• ash deformation by melting temperature > 1150 °C
• low sintering capacity
• small moisture expansion

3 Description
3.1 Boiler Construction

Pressure parts of boiler correspond to strength requirements according to EN 303-5.
The boiler is a steel sheet body with a tubular heat exchanger in its upper part and a burner at the bottom. The fuel
is fed by screw feeder from the fuel tank into the burner. Ceramic plates direct combustion, reduce dustiness,
reflect heat back into the burner and help to better combustion. Ash-pan is placed in the boiler section under the
burner.
Heating water outlet and inlet is located in the rear part of the boiler and is performed through the flange with the
outer thread G 1 1/2” for the inlet and the flange G 1 ½“ for the outlet. Outlet with the thread G ½” is used to install
the drain tap. On the body, there is a smoke adapter to remove flue gas to the chimney.
The boiler drum is insulated by using a harmless mineral insulation which reduces losses by sharing heat into the
surroundings. The high-quality komaxit spray is used for boiler shell colour treatment.

4.1 Regulations and guidelines

The solid fuel boiler may be installed by a company holding a valid certification for its installation and
maintenance.
For the installation, a project must be elaborated in accordance with applicable regulations.
The heating system must be filled with water that meets the requirements of CSN 07 7401 and especially its
hardness must not exceed the required parameters.

In case of reaction of the two-way safety valve, when there could be refilled water that does not conform to

4.2 Placement options
The boiler is equipped with the movable mains supply and plug. According to EN 60 335–1 ed. 2
Art. 7.12.4, the boiler must be positioned in such a way that the plug is accessible.
The boiler positioning in the living space (including corridors) is prohibited!
When installing and using the boiler, all requirements of CSN 06 1008 must be complied with.
The boiler positioning with regard to fire regulations:
1. Placement on the floor made of incombustible material
−place the boiler on a fireproof and heat-insulating base exceeding the boiler dimensions on the sides by 20
mm;
−if the boiler is installed in a cellar, we recommend to install it on a substructure at least 50 mm high. The
boiler must be installed straight, any possible inequalities of the substructure are eliminated by means of
adjustable foot (see Fig. 13)
2. Safe distance from flammable materials:
−when installing and operating the boiler it is necessary to keep the safe distance of 200 mm from flammable
materials with combustibility grade A1, A2, B and C (D);
−for easily flammable materials with combustibility grade E (F), which burn quickly and by themselves also
after the ignition source removal (e.g. paper, cardboard, asphalt and tar boards, wood and fibreboards,
plastics, flooring materials), the safe distance is doubled, that is 400 mm;
−the safe distance is to be doubled also when the fire reaction class is not proven.

Boiler positioning with regard to the necessary handling space:
• basic environment AA5/AB5 according to ČSN 33 2000-1 ed. 2;
• min. 1000 mm handling space must be left in front of the boiler;
• minimum distance between the boiler rear side and wall is 400 mm;
• a gap min. 1000 mm is left on the side of fuel reservoir in case of feed screw removal;
• minimum distance from the side wall is 100 mm;
• at least 450 mm are left above the boiler.
The boiler positioning with regard to electrical network (mains):
• The boiler must be placed in such a way that the plug in socket (230V/50Hz) is always accessible.
Placing of fuel:
• dry fuel has to be used in order to ensure its proper burning in the boiler. Fuel stored in cellar or at least
sheltered is recommended by the manufacturer;
• it is prohibited to store the fuel behind the boiler or next to the boiler in the distance shorter than 400 mm;
• the manufacturer recommends to keep the distance between the boiler and the fuel min. 1000 mm or store the
fuel in a different room than the boiler is installed.
Continuous air supply for burning and eventual ventilation must be provided into the room where the boiler is
installed (the air consumption of the boiler VIADRUS A3W is about 75 m
3

). Connection of the heating system
piping or the heating element heater piping must be performed by authorized personnel.
CAUTION: When connecting the boiler to the heating system, drain tap must be placed at the lowest
point and as close to the boiler as possible.

4.3 Hydraulic connection diagram
For larger heating system it is suitable to use an alternative connection to the heating circuit, as with the variant Z1.

Key of piping, signs and symbols in the diagrams::
Sensor cables can be shortened or prolonged provided following principles are observed:
-do not cut the sensor cable in the distance shorter than 0,5 m from the jacket;
-cable sensor prolongation by more than 10 m is not recommended;
-CMSM – H 2 x 0,5 mm cable is recommended for the cable prolongation;
-cable connection in case of prolongation has to be done very carefully. Ensure the conductive joint when
shortening or prolonging the cable.
If the reversible (and intake) pipe is led
from the boiler upward, it may cause
unwanted circulation of water in one
pipe. Warmer water rises up through the
centre and then cooled descends
around the pipe. It happens for the
pipes with DN 25 and larger.
In case this phenomenon occurs -
usually at HW heating outside the
heating season, the situation can be
avoided by inserting a vertical section of
pipe in which the opposite flow should
occur. See Fig.

5 Boiler installation
5.1 Delivery and accessories
The boiler is supplied according to the order so that the complete boiler drum including the basement is placed on
the palette. The boiler shell is packed separately. Accessories are stored inside the boiler drum, accessible by
opening the cleaning door. The fuel tank (depending on the requirement small – 269 dm3 or large – 528 dm3)

5.2 Installation procedure

5.2.1 Installation of the boiler drum with the basement
1. Position the boiler drum with the basement on the substructure (pad) at the horizontal position.
2. Connect the heating water outlet and the heating system.
3. Connect the return water outlet and the heating system.
4. Mount the discharge valve into the hole at the rear part of the basement.
6. Put the smoke pipe to the smoke adapter and insert into chimney hole. Smoke pipe diameter is 160 mm.
7. It is recommended to install shut-off valves before and after the pump with a filter, for the reason of cleaning
the filter strainer or replacement of the pump.
8. Open the cleaning door (Fig. 3 – pos. 6) and place 2 fireclay top plates (see Fig. 11 - pos. 6).
9. Open the cleaning door (see Fig. 3 – pos. 5) and place 11 turbulators (see Fig. 11 - pos. 8), 2 lower ceramics
(pos. 7) and 2 fireclay top plates (see Fig. 11 - pos. 6).
10. Seal the grate with the boiler mastic. The cutting of the grate must be always directed to the input of fuel
feeder.
11. Place the air inlet tube on the burner (pos. 5).
12. Slide the ash rectifier (pos. 3.)

1. Remove the shell from the cardboard packaging.
2. Mount the relevant connection accessories on the steel sheet components according to Fig. 12.
3. Jacket the boiler according to Fig. 12.
4. Screw the safety thermostat (with 2 screws M4 x 6) to the safety thermostat holder. Screw the holder with the
safety thermostat to the left shell of the basement (with 2 screws ST 4.8 x 13) – see detail A. (Note: lead the
safety thermostat capillary between the shell and insulation). The electric connection of the safety thermostat is
done before jacketing the boiler. The cable goes in the bushing PG 11 (23) through the shell, depending on the
design, either in the left or right shell. The boiler output temperature sensor must be positioned in the boiler
well through the bushing in the shell, depending on the design, in the right or left shell also before the boiler
jacketing.
5. Mount the left and right shell incl. insulation. Depending on the left or right design, screw the cover of the
break-out opening (6) with 4 screws ST 4.8 x 13.
6. Mount the front covers of the shell (10, 13) incl. insulation (11, 12) on the connecting pins.
7. Mount the upper shell (18) incl. insulation (17) on the connecting pins.
8. Screw the rear cover (15) incl. insulation (14) to the side and upper shell by means of 10 screws ST 4.8 x 13.
9. Screw the cover of the rear incl. insulation (16) to the side and upper shell by means of 6 screws ST 4.8 x 13.

Screw adjusting feet (11) on the fuel feeder assembly see Fig. 14.
Apply mastic to the boiler base, then mount the fuel feeder assembly to the boiler base and tighten. Thus, exact
position of the fuel feeder assembly is secured perpendicular to the base. Loosen the adjustable feet so that they
abut on the floor. Apply mastic to the flange for the fan on the fuel feeder assembly. Then mount the fan.
Apply mastic to the fuel feeder assembly in the place of the seating surface of the fuel tank. Position the fuel tank
and tighten the screws.
ATTENTION!!! Before delivering the fuel to the tank, check the free rotation of fuel feed screw (see Chap.
6.2.3 - User menu - manual operation).
