Transporting the Edger

Before using the Edger
• For the Victa H35 engine 375ml of S.A.E 30 oil must be placed in engine sump
before starting engine. Failure to do so will cause engine damage and will void
engine warranty.

Maintaining the Edger

Refuelling the Edger

tNote: Ensure the fuel filter is clean and Replace if punctured or damaged!

Never add fuel or remove the fuel cap when operating the engine.t
If fuel is spilt,t Never start the engine! Move the Edger away from the area of the spill.
Always clean fuel spills immediately.t
Do not create any source of ignition until fuel vapours have dissipated from the spill.t

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES
Assembling the wheels
1. Remove edger and components from the carton.
Note: Remove the upper handle and place on the ground before lifting the Edger
chassis from the carton.
2. Locate the mounting bracket tension knobs x 2,
M8 knob bolts x 2 and washers x 2
3. Screw knobs and washers into the bracket.

5. Locate the rear wheel assembly post and insert into the right
rear wheel mounting bracket.
Adjust to the desired height & tighten knob firmly.

Your Edger should include a kit with the following parts.
When folding or unfolding the handles, ensure that the bale cable is
not caught, twisted, kinked or stretched!

1. Insert the bolt through the hole, as shown.
The shoulder bolt should locate into the deck.
2. Lower handle in position as shown, Place one
of the saddle plates onto the protruding bolt.

Note: Ensure the control cable is not twisted,
pinched or damaged when assembling
the dual fold handle.

3. Thread one of the nuts onto the top of the bolt
and tighten with fingers. Then torque the nut
to 17 - 22 Nm Maximum.
4. Repeat steps 1 & 3 on the right side
as shown.
5. Attach the dual fold centre handle
using the knobs and bolts provided.
The knobs should be on the outside,
as shown.
6. Attach the dual fold Upper handle
using the knobs and bolts provided.

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES
Before using the Edger read the safety instructions!
To avoid damage to the Edger, do not allow string or other material to
wrap around the blade or spindle. Stop the engine, disconnect spark plug
and remove material immediately if this occurs.

1. Remove the bail Tag. 2. Remove bail by springing hook
inwards.
3. Slide cable eyelet over bail hook. 4. Reinsert bail in handle holes
"cable side first".

becomes clogged, stop the engine & remove debris from
the blade guard.
Always remove the spark plug lead when cleaning the blade or guard!
Paths and Kerbs

approximately 30mm below the surface. The blade
alignment indicator is located on the blade guard.
Align the indicator with the edge of the path or the
curb which is to be cut.
Always cut in a forward direction
Avoid allowing the blade to continually contact any
concrete or other hard edge.
Walls and Fences
t 5PFOBCMFZPVSFEHFSUPDVUSJHIUVQUPBXBMMPS
a fence the right rear wheel must be placed on
the lowest setting. Place the left hand side of the
machine against the vertical surface and cut a
narrow grove between the wall and the lawn.
Note: This operation will produce best results
when the blade is new! If the blade is heavily
worn it will not cut a satisfactory edge!
Note: Always take care to avoid damage to brick work, paths, pavers and tiles!

Starting the Edger
NOTE: Before starting your edger read the engine chapter then set the edger
operating height!
Ensure Fuel filter basket is clean and fitted correctly when filling. Replace if
damaged!
1. Connect spark plug lead. (Ensure the rubber
cover ts rmly onto the spark plug) 2. Fill tank with fuel 1.2 litres of
unleaded fuel.
3. Turn ON-OFF switch to the "ON" position. 4. Turn fuel tap to the "ON" position.
5. Set throttle to the "Choke" position. 6. Pull the engine starter until it engages.
Then pull starter cord briskley until the
engine starts.

Assemble starter cord & knob through the "Zone Clip" eyelet as shown.
This will assist with starting the engine & will prevent cord backlash damaging
the Edger. Avoid pulling the starter cord beyond the cord length limit.
Always gently return the cord knob recoil - Never release knob to backlash.

carburettor, and the air filter housing.

t When cleaning the underside of the Edger, tilt the handle back so the front wheel is off the
ground. Tilting in any other direction can cause the oil to contaminate & damage the air
filter causing starting difficulties.
NOTE: Do not leave edger tilted backwards for periods longer than 5 minutes!

t A hose can be used to clean the underside of your Edger. Care must be taken to "NOT" get
water into the engine as it may damage the magneto or get into the fuel system.

after edging an area which has been recently dressed with sulphate of ammonia or
fertiliser.
t After cleaning run the engine briefly to dry off excess moisture before storing.
Before cleaning the Edger ensure the "ON -OFF" switch is in the "OFF"
position. Turn the fuel tap off and disconnect the spark plug lead.
DO NOT CLEAN THE EDGER WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING!

Adjusting belt tension

re-tighten screw.

4. Install the new blade, washer
(Concave to face blade) & re-t Nut.
3. Remove the split pin, blade nut, washer
& used blade.
6. Loosen the nut 1/4 turn and align
the slot with the spindle hole.
5. Tighten the nut until the conical washer
is at against the blade (41-47Nm)
Blade Replacement
2. Place pin or phillips head screw
driver into the locking hole.
1. Rotate the blade until the locking hole
in the lower pulley & bearing housing
line up.
8. Bend the split pin legs outwards to
rest against the nut.

spindle hole until the pin head is against
the nut.

Engine - Oil Level

H35 Engine must have 375ml S.A.E. 30 Oil placed in the Sump Before Starting Engine
Do not over fill the sump
PRE OPERATION CHECK
1. Clean dirt from around the oil filler cap area.
2. Remove oil filler cap and wipe clean.
3. Dip Oil filler cap/dip stick into engine
(Do not screw in to check)
4. Remove oil filler cap/dip stick and check oil level.
5. If the oil level is low add the recommended oil to the
upper mark on the dipstick.
(375ml S.A.E. 30 Oil - Sump Max Capacity)
6. Always check oil level 3 times.
Note: When the edger is level the oil capacity will
roughly fill/reach the brim of the sump oil filler.
CAUTION! Running the engine with insufficient oil can cause serious
engine damage. Be sure to check engine on a level surface with engine
stopped.
CAUTION! DO NOT USE nondetergent oil or 2 stroke engine oil as it will
shorten the engine service life and will not be covered under warranty.
