VINCI TAB

VINCI Tab Buttons
POWER Button
Use this button to turn your VINCI Tab ON and OFF, RESET and LOCK SCREEN
(SLEEP MODE).
• This button also resets your VINCI Tab when a forced close is required.
Press and hold button for 5 seconds until your VINCI Tab shuts off.
• The power button also puts the touch-screen into sleep mode. In sleep mode,
the VINCI Tab operating system is still running, but the screen is locked. Press
the POWER button to put the screen into sleep mode. Press the POWER button
again to EXIT sleep mode.

Volume Button
Use this button to adjust the VOLUME on your VINCI Tab.
Increase volume
1. Press the PLUS SIGN until desired volume is reached.
Decrease volume
1. Press the MINUS SIGN until desired volume is reached.
HOME Button
Press this button to return to the
HOME screen.
RETURN Button
Press this button to go back to the
previous screen.
MENU Button
While viewing the Home screen on your VINCI Tab, press the MENU button
when you want to add a folder to your home screen, create and manage user
proles, open the list of available applications on the VINCI Tab, or to access
system settings. More information can be found in the Settings Options
section of this guide.
Note: Options may differ if the Menu button is selected when viewing screens other than
the Home screen.
Charging your VINCI Tab
1. Your VINCI Tab will turn on when charging.
2. Use the included micro USB to USB cable and connect the micro USB to your VINCI Tab.
3. Connect the USB to the travel charger.
4. Plug the travel charger into an electrical outlet.
Please note:
• Your VINCI Tab may demonstrate unexpected behavior if played while charging.
• VINCI Tab cannot be charged using a computer via USB.
• Usage and standby times will vary based on the applications used.

VINCI Tab Home Screen
The Home screen displays icons for the different application folders as well as a few
indicator icons. The Home screen is the main launch point for the different applications on
your VINCI Tab.

VINCI Tab Indicator Icons
Battery life:
This icon indicates the amount of battery life remaining. A blue
battery life icon indicates that your VINCI Tab has enough battery for
use. The battery life icon will turn red to indicate low battery life. It is
time to charge your VINCI Tab.

Time
The time is displayed in the top right corner of the Home screen. You can
change the time by pressing the menu button from the home page.
Select Settings, then the date and time option. Adjust the options as desired.
• Automatic – use network-provided values. Since your VINCI Tab is Wi-Fi and
3G-free, please ensure that the checkbox for this option is empty. If a checkmark
appears, tap the checkmark to remove it.
• Set date
• Select time zone
• Set time
• User 24-hour format
• Select date format
Page Indicator
In the top center of the Home screen, there is a page indicator icon. The
number indicates which page you are currently viewing. A nger sweep
to the left on the home screen will result in your viewing of the next page.
User Prole
In the top left corner of the Home screen, you will see “Hello,!”.
This welcome message indicates which user is the current, active
user of the VINCI Tab. The message will simply say “Hello” until
a User Prole has been created. User proles can be added, edited or deleted by press-
ing the Menu button from the home screen, then selecting the Manage Proles option.
Once a User Prole has been created, the “Hello” message will include the rst name
associated with the prole.

VINCI Tab On, Off,
Screen Lock & Reset
Turning on your VINCI Tab
1. Press and hold the POWER button until
screen illuminates. The system will begin
to boot.
2. Slide the LOCK icon up. The VINCI Tab
Home screen will appear. (Figure 5).
Turning off your VINCI Tab
1. Press and hold the POWER button until the Device options dialogue
box appears.
2. Tap POWER OFF.
3. The Power off dialogue box will appear.
4. Tap OK.
Locking the Screen (Sleep mode)
1. Press the POWER button. The screen will go dark, but the VINCI Tab
operating system is still running.
2. Press the POWER button again to activate the screen.
3. Unlock the screen by sliding the LOCK up.
Resetting your VINCI Tab
Occasionally, the screen may stop responding, or freeze. When this happens, you need to
reset your VINCI Tab.
1. Press and hold the POWER button until the screen goes dark
(approximately 10 seconds).
2. Wait approximately 30 seconds, then press and hold the POWER button
until the screen illuminates.

VINCI Tab Touch Screen
VINCI Tab uses a capacitive screen meaning the screen can sense contact and gestures
using the electrical properties of the human body. This allows for light touches and motions
of the nger to navigate easily through the VINCI Tab. Proper functioning of the screen
requires a clean contact surface between the human body and the screen to activate
the sensor. As your child has very tiny ngers, please ensure your child has short nails
and help him/her to use their nger tip to create contact between their skin and thetouch
screen.
Navigating your VINCI Tab
Your VINCI Tab uses many of the same navigation features you nd on other touch-
screen devices.
To navigate your VINCI Tab and its applications, use the touch-screen. Two main nger
movements or gestures will allow you to navigate – tap and slide. You can tap the screen to
select an item. You can slide your nger up, down and side to side to move around
the screen.
Additional applications that you install on your VINCI Tab may support different nger
movements to navigate the application.
VINCI Tab Display
Orientation
VINCI Tab applications can only be viewed in landscape mode. Holding the VINCI Tab in
portrait mode will not result in a change of orientation. Other AndroidTM applications may
allow change in orientation.
Settings
There is a variety of display adjustments such as the Sleep timer that you can make to your
VINCI Tab touch-screen. From the home screen, press the menu button and select the
settings option, then, select the display option to see the different adjustments you can
make. See the “Settings” section for more information.

Applications
Using the camera
Viewing Photos
If pictures are taken using VINCI Camera, pictures are stored in a folder called Photo
Album. Open the album to view pictures. If using AndroidTM camera, they are stored in a
folder called DCIM. Use AndroidTM Gallery to view all pictures and videos.
Recording Videos
The AndroidTM camera has a video mode button. You can shoot video by switching to video
mode from the Camera app. You can also use the VINCI Camcorder app which allows your
child to shoot video by simply touching anywhere on the screen.
Viewing Photos
Videos shot using AndroidTM Camera app are stored in the DCIM folder. Videos shot us-
ing the VINCI Camcorder are stored in Video Album folder. To view videos simply open the
folder and choose a player. The AndroidTM Gallery also shows all pictures and videos.
Using the Music Player
Installing Music
1. Connect VINCI Tab to your computer
2. Open VINCI Tab Manager on your computer
3. Click on the MY MUSIC category
4. Open the computer folder with your music les.
5. Drag the les you want to transfer into the MY MUSIC folder.

VINCI Tab is equipped with a 3 mega-

child record are saved automatically
to a corresponding gallery inside the

Play Music
1. Tap the MEDIA folder on the home screen.
2. Tap the MUSIC icon to access and play music
AndroidTM has also a Music app that allows you to add and play music titles.
Using the VINCI Tab Keyboard
To input text information on the VINCI Tab, you will need to use the on-screen keyboard. In
most cases, the keyboard will automatically appear on screen when the VINCI Tab is ready
to receive typed information. Tapping once on an open text entry eld will automatically
display the keyboard.
To edit text that you have entered into a text eld, tap and hold or tap twice to display
different text editing options.
Creating a memo
1. Tap the ACCESSORIES folder on the home screen.
2. Tap the NOTE PAD icon.
3. Press the MENU button
4. Tap ADD NOTE at the bottom of the screen.
5. The on-screen keyboard will appear.
6. Type your memo.
7. Press the RETURN button to save your memo.
8. To discard your memo, press the MENU button, and select DELETE at
the bottom of the screen.
Adding external memory to your VINCI Tab (Optional)
Your VINCI Tab comes with an internal memory of 4 or 8 gigabytes, depending on the
model you have purchased. This is sufcient to use the VINCI library of educational activi-
ties. If desired, you can expand the storage capacity by installing a micro SD memory card
(not included).
Installing a Memory Card
1. Insert the memory card in the microSD Card Slot with the gold-colored contact
facing up.
2. Push the memory card into the slot until it clicks into place.
File Browsing
VINCI Tab comes with a le browser ASTRO an open source le management app. You
can also turn on USB storage mode to browse les from your PC.

ANDROIDTM Functions
and Features
Your VINCI Tab comes with many additional AndroidTM functions (version 2.3.3). To access
the AndroidTM functions, from VINCI home screen, you can press the Menu button, and
choose either Settings or Open Applications List.
AndroidTM Settings
Note: All WI-FI and wireless settings are not supported by VINCI Tab hardware. The most
commonly used setting functions include:
Sound: adjust volume
Display: adjust time to Sleep (timeout)
Manage Applications: Unknown sources should remain checked for installing VINCI apps.
From Manage applications you can uninstall apps you are not using and force quit apps
that are not performing properly.
Development: by default, USB debugging is checked. When you have trouble connecting
using VINCI Tab Manager, un-checking then re-checking USB debugging will re-initialize
ADB mode which is used by the Tab Manager.
Detailed Description of AndroidTM Setting Options
Wireless & network settings – not applicable
Sound Settings:

• Silent mode (silence all sounds excepts media & alarms) - not applicable

Google servers)

AndroidTM Applications
These include useful apps such as the le browser ASTRO, alarms, clock, calculator, and
all installed VINCI games, storybooks, gallery etc. As VINCI Tab is WI-FI free, some bun-
dled AndroidTM apps such as Market, Browser, Email, Gmail and Maps are not supported
by VINCI Tab hardware.
AndroidTM applications from the AndroidTM Market can not be downloaded or installed on
VINCI Tab.
Cleaning your VINCI Tab
It is best to have your VINCI Tab turned off when cleaning the screen. Always use a soft,
lint-free cloth. Avoid using liquid or abrasive cleaners of any kind. To remove food or juice
residue, slightly moisten the lint-free cloth and wipe the area clean.
Please note:
• To avoid scratching the touch screen, do not use sharp tools to navigate or
clean the VINCI Tab.
• Do not allow the touch screen to come into contact with other electrical
devices. Electrostatic discharges can cause the touch screen to malfunction.
• The touch screen may malfunction in very humid condition or when exposed
to water.
