Quick Set Up for Lithium Ion Batteries – 48100 / 4850
Compatible Inverters: Voltacon Off Grid 5kW, 7.2kW, 8kW, 11Kw.
Step 1. Set Dip Switches
Dip Switch Master Battery Only : There are 4 Dip Switches that sets different baud rate and battery
group address. If switch position is turned to the “OFF” position, it means “0”. If switch position is
turned to the “ON” position, it means “1”. Dip 1 is “ON” to represent the baud rate 9600. Dip 2, 3 and 4
are reserved for battery group address. Dip switch 2, 3 and 4 on master battery (first battery) are to
set up or change the group address.
The “Slave” batteries should have the dip-switches unchanged (default setting)
Step 2. BMS Cable for Voltacon Inverters
Connect the BMS cable from the RS485 port on the battery to the dedicated Li-Ion port on the
inverter terminals.
Off-grid Voltacon Inverter: BMS Cable Pins (Battery)1-3(Inverter),(Battery) 2-5 (Inverter).
Hybrid Voltacon Inverter: BMS Cable Pins (Battery)1-4(Inverter),(Battery) 2-5 (Inverter).
Please do not use any standard RJ45 ethernet cable with the Voltacon inverters. If in doubt

Link Communication Cables Between Batteries
Step 3. Select Battery Type and Communication Protocol
In menu 5 of the inverter, select the protocol LIB, if error 61 appears on the screen
repeat the process and select LIC. It will take up to 3 minutes for the battery to
reboot and communicate with the inverter.

Step 4.
Turn on the power switch of the batteries and press the RED switch for 2 seconds. The
program loading process can take up to 3 minutes until successful communication is
established. The battery icon will start flashing when the process is complete.
How to Set Up Mixed Old and New Lithium Batteries
For installation with mixed batteries of the same capacity 48100A version and 48100B
version or 4850A and 4850B, the version B (new version) will be installed on top of the old
batteries. The new battery is always the Master/Host. BMS Cable is also connected to the
Master battery.
NOTICE: Installation of 4850 and 48100 in the same circuit is not allowed.
The new BMS communication cable is require from the RS485 port of the battery to the inverter
Li-Ion port. Do not use the old BMS communication cable (version A) with the new batteries.

Manual Set Up without BMS Communication – Old Inverters without BMS
The following settings should be used when the inverter does not support
communication with battery via serial/CAN bus. The parameters have to be set
manually. If the following numbers are entered the battery will be charged and
discharged according to the manufacturer's specifications
