All warning texts, and other important and detailed information, are only
available in the owner's manual – this folder only contains a small selection.
In addition, the owner's manual contains the latest and most current

Quick Guide WEB EDITION

REMOTE CONTROL KEY
Locks doors and tailgate and arms the
alarm*.
Unlocks the doorsAand tailgate, and
disarms the alarm.
Unlocks the tailgate – it does not
open.
Approach lighting. Switches on
the lamps in the side mirrors*, the
direction indicators and parking
lamps, at the number plate, passenger
compartment and floor.
Panic function. Press and hold for
approx. 5 seconds in an emergency
to trigger the alarm. Switch off with
a double press on the lock or unlock
button.
AAutomatic relocking takes place if a door/tailgate is
not opened within 2 minutes after unlocking.
The key blade can be used to lock/unlock the
glovebox.
NOTE
Idling speed is higher for a short time after
a cold start so that the engine shall reach
normal operating temperature as soon as
possible. This means that the emission
system can function optimally.
COLD START STARTINGTHE ENGINE
3.2 petrol: Depress the clutch and/or brake
pedal, turn the remote control key to position
III and release it directly – the engine starts
automatically.
All other engines: Depress the clutch and/or
brake pedal, turn the remote control key to
position III and release it when the engine
starts.
Diesel: Preheat the engine by turning the key
to position II until the control symbol in the
instrument panel goes out.
WINDSCREEN WIPERS AND RAIN SENSOR*
1Rain Sensor On/Off, with the lever in
position 0.
2Regulates the sensor sensitivity or the
intermittent delay.
3Wiper, rear window – intermittent/normal.
ASingle sweep
0Off
BIntermittent wiper, see also (2).
CNormal sweep speed.
DHigh sweep speed.
EWasher, windscreen and headlamps.
FWasher, rear window.
A green LED in the button "1"
illuminates when the rain sensor is
active.

PARKING BRAKE
Applying
1. Depress the foot brake firmly – then the
parking brake pedal (1).
2. Release the foot brake. If the car rolls
– depress the parking brake pedal further.
3. When parking – select gear position 1
(manual) or P (automatic).
Releasing
1. Depress the foot brake firmly and then pull
the handle (2) – the parking brake pedal rises.
2. The foot brake can be released.
LIGHT SWITCHES
Automatic dipped beam. Main beam
flash works but not the fixed main beam.
Parking lamps
Dipped beam. Switches off when the
engine is switched off. Main beam can
be activated.
Manual headlamp levelling (automatic for
Xenon lights*).
Display and instrument lighting.
Daytime Running Lights (DRL). Press
to switch on the LED daytime running
lights.
Fog lamp rear (only driver's side).

BMain/dipped beam switching and Home
safe lighting.
REFUELLING
In certain conditions the instrument panel
display may show SOOT FILTER FULL. At
which point the exhaust system's particle filter
requires cleaning. This takes place automati-
cally by driving for approx. 20 minutes at an
even main road speed.
When the message clears the so-called
regeneration is complete.
– Hang up the fuel cap during refuelling.
REGENERATION (DIESEL)

AUDIO SYSTEM
1Press for On/Off. Turn to adjust the volume.
2Sound pattern: Press to select e.g. BASS,
Dolby Pro Logic II* or SUBWOOFER – turn
to adjust.
Audio source: Turn to select e.g. CD,strea-
ming audio via Bluetooth® or AUX/USB*A.
RADIO
5Press for about 2 seconds to autostore the
10 strongest stations. The display shows
AUTOSTORE during the search. Select
stored station with 0–9.
6Short presses search for the next strong
station. Store up to 20 stations by holding
in 0–9on FM1 or FM2 at the desired station
until the display confirms the selection.
CD PLAYERB
3Change CDCor select with 1–6.
4One short press ejects the current disc.
One long press ejects all discsC.
6Changes CD track.
AAUX/USB connection for e.g. MP3 player. Set the
player's volume at medium for optimum audio
quality. An iPod® which is connected to the USB
connection is also charged.
BCDs with MP3 and WMA files can also be played
back.
COnly CD changer*.
INTEGRATED BOOSTER CUSHION
Raising
1. Pull the handle in front edge of the booster
cushion forward.
2. Lift the rear edge of the cushion, and with
both hands push the cushion back and down
until it is locked. Push aside the seatbelt's
lock if necessary.
Lowering
1. Pull the handle in front edge of the booster
cushion forward.
2. Pull the cushion forward and press down in
the middle until it is locked.
The booster cushion must be locked in the
fully lowered position so that the rear seat's
backrest can be folded down.

AUTOMATIC CONTROL
In AUTO mode the ECC system controls all
functions automatically making driving simpler
with optimum air quality.
4Rotate for individual temperature settings
in the left and right parts of the passenger
compartment.
6Press for automatic control of selected
temperature and other functions.
ELECTRONIC CLIMATE CONTROL – ECC*
WARNING
Incorrect use could endanger life. Consult
the Owner's Manual if you have the slightest
doubt about its use.
MANUAL CONTROL
1Turn to change the fan speed.
2MAN – Recirculation On/Off.
AUT – Air quality system* On/Off.
3AC – Air conditioning On/Off. Cools the
passenger compartment and demists the
windows.
5Air distribution. Direct the airflow towards
e.g. the floor, vents in the instrument panel,
windscreen, etc.
7Heated front seats On/Off.
8Max. defroster. Directs all air towards the
front windscreen and side windows, with
maximum air flow.
9Rear window and door mirror defrosters.
DEACTIVATINGTHE AIRBAG – PACOS*
PACOS (Passenger Airbag Cut Off Switch)
Use the key blade to switch ON/OFF.
OFF – The airbag is deactivated. PASSENGER
AIRBAG OFF is shown in the warning lamp
above the interior rearview mirror.
A child can sit on a booster cushion or child
seat in the front seat but never passengers
taller than 140 cm.
ON – The airbag is activated.
Passengers taller than 140 cm can sit in the
front seat but never a child on a booster
cushion or in a child seat.

1Display trip computer. Select the function
with (9).

5Setting the clock: Turn clockwise/anticlock-
wise to the end position and hold to set the

7Low fuel level. When the lamp is illumina-
ted, fill with fuel as soon as possible.
8Press to show/clear message.
9Turn to see the trip computer's options.
10 One short press resets the trip computer's
current function.
One long press resets all trip computer

TRIP COMPUTER ANDTRIP METERS
NOTE
Display text --- KILOMETRES TO EMPTY
TANK is an estimate of possible distance
based on earlier driving conditions.
INDICATOR AND WARNING LAMPS
Read in information display.
Yellow symbol: Note - follow the
prompt in the display.
Red symbol: WARNING - Stop safely
in a location safe from traffic, follow
the prompt in the display.
Low oil level. Stop safely, check the
oil levelA.
Fault in brake system. Stop safely,
check the brake fluidA.
DSTC* stability system – flashes
when the system is operating.
Engine preheater (diesel). The engine
can be started once the symbol has
gone out.
AHave the car recovered if the symbol remains
visible.

ENTRY INTO THETHIRD ROW
OF SEATS
Lowering the outer backrests in the second
row of seats
1. Lift the handle (1) while folding the backrest
forward in order to move the seat.
2. Lift the handle (1) and fold back the backrest
to its upright position in order to move the
seat back.
DIRECTION INDICATORS
AShort sequence – 3 flashes.
BContinuous flashing sequence. WARNING
Adjust the steering wheel before setting off
– never while driving.
ADJUSTINGTHE STEERING WHEEL
BLIS – BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM*
If the BLIS' indicator lamp illuminates despite
there being no vehicle within the blind spot, the
cause could be for example, reflection from
shiny wet road surface, own shadow on light
road surface or low sun in the camera.
In the event of a direct fault in the system the
display shows the text BLIND-SPOT SYST
SERVICE REQUIRED.
Washing by hand is gentler to the paintwork
than an automatic car wash. The paintwork
is also more sensitive when it is new. For this
reason, handwashing is recommended during
the first few months with a new car.
Use clean water and a sponge. Remember
that dirt and gravel may scratch the paint-
work.

REMOTE CONTROL KEY AND POWER
DRIVER'S SEAT*
All remote control keys can be used by different
drivers to store the settings for the driver's seat.
Proceed as follows:
oĺ Adjust the seat as you want it.
oĺ Lock the car by pressing the lock button on
the remote control key that you normally
use. This stores the seat's position in the
remote control key's memoryA.
oĺ Unlock the car (by pressing the unlock but-
ton on the same remote control key) and
open the driver's door. The driver's seat
will automatically adopt the position that is
stored in the remote control key's memory
(if the seat has been moved since you
locked the car).
A. This setting does not affect settings that have been stored in
the power seat's* memory function*. See the owner's manual
for more information.
