Notes on Safety

Note on Condensation
• When left in a heated room where is warm and damp, water droplets or condensation may form inside
the unit. When there is condensation inside, the unit may not function normally. Let the unit stand for
1 to 2 hours before turning the power on, or gradually heat the room up and dry the unit before use.
Notes on Maintenance
• Do not use volatile chemicals on this unit. Clean by lightly wiping with a soft cloth.
• Do not place a heavy object on or step on the unit. The object may fall, causing serious personal injury
and serious damage to the unit.

Turns the unit ON, or puts the unit into STANDBY mode.

Using the Remote Control Correctly
Attention:Takeoutthe PVCsheet beforeoperatingthe remotecontrol.
1. Point the remote control at the remote sensor located on the unit.
2. Whenthereisastrong ambientlightsource, theperformanceof theinfrared remotesensormay be degraded,
causing unreliable operation.
3. The recommended effective distance for remote operation is about 4 meters (13 feet).
Note:
If the remote control will not be used for a long period of time, remove the battery to avoid damage caused by
battery leakage corrosion.
When the battery becomes weak, the operating distance of the remote control is greatly reduced and you will
need to replace the battery.
1.Open the battery door. 2.Insert one CR2025
(3V) size battery.

Notes:
• Before you plug in the unit, make sure that the rated voltage of your unit matches your local voltage.
• Keep your hands dry when you are connecting the power cord to the wall outlet to avoid electric shock.
• When you are not going to use the unit for a long period of time, disconnect the power cord.
• When the player is in the standby mode, it is still consuming some power.If you wish to disconnect the unit
completely from the power, unplug the power cord from the AC outlet.
• To prevent electric shock, match wide blade of plug to wide slot, fully insert.(For USA and Canada only)
The speaker cordshave been color-coded to simplify connection.Just plugthe POSITIVE (+) and NEGATIVE
(-) ends of each speaker wire into the corresponding jacks on the rear of the Unit, matching the color tube on
the end of the speaker wire to the color-coded connector.
Caution:
To prevent damage to the unit, be sure to turn off the unit before making any connection.
Connecting speakers other than the speakers supplied with the unit may damage the unit.
1. Mark the correct mounting position on the wall.
2. Insert a fixing screw(s) at the marked position on the wall.
3. Alignthe slot hole(s)of thespeaker overthe screwand pullthe speakerdownwarduntilit isfirmlyhooked.

Positioning the Speakers & Subwoofer
Remarks:
1. "O" The speaker/indicator is active." X " The speaker is inactive. " "The indicator is blinking.
2. 3 STEREO mode creates a surround sound effect without using the rear speakers. In this mode, no sound
comes from the rear speakers.
3. This unit supports three digital input modes:
• Dolby Digital 5.1ch. In this mode, press the SURROUND button on the remote control or press the PL
button repeatedly on the unit to select between Dolby Digital (5 CH.) and Downmix (2 CH.).
• Dolby Digital 2.0ch. In this mode, press the SURROUND button on the remote control or press the PL
buttonrepeatedly onthe unitto selectamong DolbyDigitalStereo(2CH.), 3STEREO (3CH.) andDOLBY
PROLOGIC (4CH.).
• PCM.In thismode,press theSURROUNDbuttontoselect amongSTEREO,3 STEREOand DOLBYPRO
LOGIC.
4. When analog signal is input, press the SURROUND button on the remote control or press the PL button
repeatedly on the unit to select among STEREO, 3 STEREO and DOLBY PRO LOGIC.
AV1/AV2 The AV1and AV2 audioinputs allowyouto connect eitheran analogor digital sourceto theunit.The
unitwill automaticallyswitchto digitalor analogmodedepending onwhat typeofsource isconnected.
When you press the AV1 or AV2 button once, the unit will be in “Auto-Detect” mode, and the light
labelled AV1 you press the AV1 or AV2 button once, the unit will be in “Auto-Detect” mode, and the
light labelled AV1digital, and will automatically switch to that mode.If you want to force the unit into
“Analog”mode only, press the AV1 or AV2 button a second time, and the AV1 or AV2 light will begin
to blink.To return to “Auto-Detect”mode, press the button again, and the light will stop blinking.
AV3 The AV3 audio input is analog only.
YoucanpresstheSURROUNDbuttonrepeatedlyontheremotecontrolorpressthePLbuttonrepeatedlyonthe
unit to change the sound output status. Please see the table below.

AV1 (SAT/VCR)
Connect the audio and video output jacks of the AV equipment (VCR, Satellite receiver, etc.) to the audio and
video input jacks on the unit with an audio/video cable.
If the AV equipment has a bitstream/PCM coaxial audio out jack, connect the equipment to the unit by using a
coaxial cable.
AV2 (DVD)
Connect the audio and video output jacks of the DVD player to the audio and video input jacks on the unit with
an audio/video cable.
Connect the coaxial digital audio output jack of the DVD player to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN on the unit by using
a coaxial cable.
TV
Connect the audio and video input jacks of your TV to the audio and video output jacks on the unit with an
audio/video cable (included).Refer to yourTV’s owner’s manual.
To record the playing signal, connect AUDIO OUT to the recordable equipment (Recordable cassette player,
Recordable MD player, etc.).
Watching a DVD
1. Connect the unit to the TV and the DVD player.
2. Turn on the unit and press the AV2 button on the remote control to select AV2 “auto-detect/auto-switch”
mode, or press AV2 button on the front panel directly. If no sound in digital input mode, press AV2 button
again to switch to AV2 “force analog” mode.The AV2 indicator will blink.
3. Turn on yourTV and select the corresponding video input that you have connected to the unit.
4. Turn on your DVD player to start playing.

Dolby Pro Logic is a sound system that was developed to get a better sense of presence from sources
encoded with Dolby Surround.The feeling of position has been improved by the addition of a separate center
speakerchannel.
Youcan enjoy thedynamic realisticsound ofDolbyPro LogicSurround byconnectingtheunittotheequipment
whichgivesDolbyPro Logicsignal witha coaxialcableor audiocable.The outputsoundfrom therear speakers
willbe monaural.

SOUND ADJUSTMENT
Adjust the speaker balance with the remote control.
1. Press the TEST button on the remote control once, and you will hear PINK NOISE from the left front
speaker.The L light on the front panel will illuminate.
2. Use theVOL +/- buttons on the remote control or the front panel to change the balance from -10 to 10.
3. Press the TEST button again, and the PINK NOISE will move from the left front speaker to the center
speaker. Repeat Step 2.Continue through all 5 speakers and the subwoofer.
Note:
• To canceladjusting, presstheTESTbuttonrepeatedly untilthe speakerindicatorgoes outand thedisplay
window returns to normal.
Adjusting the Balance
In a small room, the center speaker can be placed at the same distance from the listener as the left and right
frontspeakers.Thisresults in soundfrom allthreespeakersreaching thelistener at thesame time.However, in
larger rooms, it may be necessary to move the center speaker closer to the listener than the left and right front
speakers. In this case, Center Delay necessary to move the center speaker closer to the listener than the left
and right front speakers.In this case, Center Delay front speakers, the center delay should be set to 2.
1. Press the CENTER DELAY button on the remote control or the unit and the display window will show the
current delay time of the center speaker. Meanwhile, the STANDBY DELAY indicator and the C speaker
indicator will illuminate to indicate that you are setting the center delay.
2. Press the VOL +/- buttons on the remote control or the unit to adjust the delay time of the center speaker.
The digit in the display window will change to show the setting value.The center delay ranges from 0 to 5.
Note:
• If you do not press any button within few seconds, the display will return to normal.
1. Press the BASS button on the remote control or the unit and the display window will show the current bass
level.
2. Press theVOL +/- buttons on the remote control or the unit to adjust the bass level from -7 to 7.The digit in
the display window will change to show the current bass level setting.
Note:
• If you do not press any button within few seconds, the display will return to normal.
• The bass level changes the low range of sounds.

Just as the center delay compensates for placement of the center speaker, Surround delay compensates for
placement of the left and right rear speakers.The sound from these speakers should reach the listener at the
same time as sound from the front left and right and center speakers.
1. Pressthe SURROUNDDELAYbuttonon theremote control orthe unitand thedisplaywindowwill show the
currentsurround delaytime.Meanwhile,the STANDBY DELAY indicatorand theLR, RRspeakerindicators
will illuminate to indicate that you are setting the surround delay.
2. PresstheVOL +/- buttons onthe remote controlor the unitto adjust the surrounddelaytime.The digit inthe
display window will change to show the setting value.The surround delay ranges from 15 to 30.
Note:
• If you do not press any button within few seconds, the display will return to normal.

PROBLEMS
No power.
No sound.
No sound from one channel or
unbalanced left and right volume.
Reversed left and right sound.
The centre speaker or the surround
speakers give no sound
The remote control does not function.
SOLUTIONS
• Check that the AC power cord is connected.
• Rotate the VOLUME + button to increase volume.
• Select the correct AV input and the correct input mode
(Digital or analogy sound).
• Checkthe speakerconnectionsof theinoperativechannel.
• Check the speaker cord connection and speaker location.
• Check the speaker connection for proper phasing.
• Check that the speaker connections are correct.
• The current mode does not support surround sound.
• Remove any obstacles between the remote control and
the unit.
• Use the remote control near the unit.
• Point the remote control at the remote sensor on the unit.
• Replace the battery in the remote control with new one.
• If there is a clear plastic strip sticking out from the rear of
the remote control, pull it out.
