IMPORTANT WARNING - PLEASE READ
System Flushing: This reverse osmosis system contains a preservative solution to prevent
microbiological growth and freezing which if ingested may cause irritation of the
gastrointestinal tract, colic, diarrhea or other symptoms. Therefore, approximately 5
gallons of water must be drawn from the tap to flush out the preservative solution before
using the system. This volume of water represents approximately two days of production.
The water flushed should be disposed of to the drain.
Feed Wate Quality: This reverse osmosis drinking water system is not intended to be
used for the treatment of water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality. If
the feed water quality is unsafe or unknown, have a sample of the water tested by a
qualified laboratory or agency and implement the necessary measures to ensure a safe
water supply.

INTRODUCTION
Congr tul tions, on the purch se of your new Reverse Osmosis Drinking W ter System. Tre ted with c re
nd regul r m inten nce, your new system will provide m ny ye rs of service delivering purified w ter to
the t p.
By now, you h ve prob bly lre dy opened the box to survey the contents. Ple se t ke few moments to
review this m nu l before proceeding with the inst ll tion nd use of the system. Some import nt items
to review re s follows:
• Check ll components for ny d m ge c used in shipment. Also, t ke quick inventory of
ll items supplied to ensure none re missing. A checklist in the next section will ssist you
with identifying these items.
• Ensure th t the reverse osmosis system nd stor ge t nk will e sily fit into
the desired loc tion. This reverse osmosis system nd t nk needs to be removed for
regul r m inten nce, so good ccessibility is n import nt tip to keep in mind.
• Re d ll w rnings cont ined within this m nu l.
Although this product is described s ‘Drinking Water System’, the purified w ter produced by the
reverse osmosis (RO) process c n be used for m ny purposes round the home.
•Drinking Water - keep cont iner of RO w ter in the fridge to be ble to enjoy the cle n,
fresh t ste. Altern tively, t ke it directly from the t p.
•Ice Cubes - use RO w ter to fill ice cube tr ys. Ice cubes m de from RO w ter re typic lly

•Automatic Ice Makers - w ter line from the RO system c n be plumbed to refriger tors
with utom tic icem kers. Addition l ccessories required to complete this connection re

•ettles and Coffee Makers - pl in t p w ter eventu lly c uses films nd sc le in these
devices th t is difficult to cle n. RO w ter is very low in dissolved miner ls content, gre tly
reducing the ch nce of sc le buildup.
•Cooking - use RO w ter for boiling p st , rice or ny other recipe th t c lls for w ter in
the instructions.
•Washing Fresh Fruit & Vegetables - prevent t p w ter miner ls from being deposited
onto food to m int in freshness.

Application Guidelines
(1) Nomin l product w ter r tings re b sed on the following conditions: Supply TDS of 250 ppm softened t p w ter, 50 psi (0.36 Mp ), 77oF (25oC), pH
8 nd 15% recovery with outlet to tmosphere.
(2) Rejection percent ges re dependent on the supply conditions nd the subst nce being me sured.
Notes:
The perform nce of reverse osmosis membr ne is highly dependent upon pressure, temper ture nd TDS. The ctu l volume of product
w ter nd rejection percent ge will v ry with differences from the test conditions th t membr ne r tings re b sed upon.

Functional Description
Feed w ter enters the 5-micron pre-filter (combin tion 5 micron/c rbon filter in 2 sump models), which
filters out suspended p rticles such s dirt or sediment. The filtered w ter then enters the pre-c rbon filter
(3 sump models only), which cont ins gr nul r ctiv ted c rbon, which removes ny chlorine from the
w ter. The two sump models utilize combin tion 5-micron/c rbon filter to filter fine p rticles nd remove
chlorine.
The w ter then enters the reverse osmosis membr ne. The membr ne will llow only perme te (product
w ter) to p ss through. The brine (w ste w ter) goes to the dr in.
Perme te then flows through hydr ulic shut-off v lve to the stor ge t nk. When the t nk fills nd the t nk
pressure re ches 2/3 of the inlet feed w ter pressure, the shut-off v lve closes, which turns the system
off.
When w ter is dr wn from the f ucet, perme te flows from the stor ge t nk through the post c rbon filter.
This filter cont ins gr nul ted ctiv ted c rbon, removing ny t ste nd odor th t h s ccumul ted while
stored in the t nk. When the t nk empties, the shut-off v lve opens, turning the unit on.

Installation
All State/Provincial and local government codes regarding installation of these devices must be
observed.
Verify Water Supply is Potable
The w ter supply must meet provinci l/st te nd/or n tion l st nd rds for pot ble drinking w ter. W ter
s mples should be sent to certified l bor tory for n lysis.
Placement of omponents
Pl cement of the v rious components of the system will v ry from inst ll tion to inst ll tion. The m in
objective is to pl ce the components so th t they re ccessible for servicing nd e se of inst ll tion.
Spigot
Proper f ucet pl cement should ensure no-spl sh w terf ll p ttern into the sink. The spigot h ndle
should be positioned to either the left or right s one f ces the sink.
Storage Tank
The stor ge t nk should be pl ced so th t it c n be e sily removed from under the sink. Avoid placing
the storage tank in out-of-the-way cabinets or dead spaces. There re two re sons for this: 1) the
difficulty of inst ll tion incre ses signific ntly nd 2) when the stor ge t nk is loc ted further w y from
the f ucet, the flow r te diminishes.
Module Assembly
The module ssembly should be hung on sink c binet side-w ll with the two wood screws provided.
Quick Connect Fittings
All connections re quick connect fittings except for the compression fitting t the inlet s dle v lve, dr in
s ddle v lve nd stor ge t nk shutoff v lve.
To Prepare Tubing
•Cut the tube squ rely nd remove ny burrs.
•M rk from the end of the tube the length of insertion. (1/4" O.D. - 11/16", 3/8" O.D. - 3/4")
To Insert Tubing into Fitting
•Insert tube str ight into fitting until it bottoms out on interior shoulder nd insertion m rk is no longer
visible.
To Release Tubing
•Push collet tow rd body nd pull on tubing to rele se tube. To re-use fitting, begin ssembly over
g in.

Installation of Feed Water Assembly
The system comes supplied with s ddle-type v lve with mounting h rdw re nd is intended to be used
on 3/8" to 1/2" copper tubing cold w ter supply line. NOTE: It is not to be used on flex lines.
. Turn off cold w ter v lve under the sink or m in v lve for the house.
b. Slide the cl mp over the copper tubing nd tighten the bottom screw firmly to hold the cl mp in
position. (See Figure 4)
c. Slide br ss nut, pl stic sleeve nd tube insert on to the green 1/4" pl stic tubing nd thre d onto v lve
outlet.
d. Pierce the copper tubing by turning the needle v lve h ndle (clockwise) until it is firmly se ted. The
v lve is closed in this position.
e. Turn on m in supply v lve to pressurize cold w ter line. Immedi tely check for ny signs of le ks.
f. When re dy to supply w ter to the system, turn v lve h ndle (counter-clockwise) until fully open.
Feed Water Assembly
Installation of Drain Saddle Assembly
The system comes supplied with dr in s ddle nd mounting h rdw re which fits round st nd rd 1½"
O.D.dr in pipe (See Figure 5).
. The s ddle should be inst lled bove the tr p nd on the vertic l or horizont l t ilpiece. It should never
be pl ced close to the outlet of g rb ge dispos l (See Figure 6).
b. Position s ddle ssembly on dr in pipe to llow dequ te sp ce for drilling through pipe. If possible,
ngle the dr in s ddle fitting tow rd spigot loc tion.
c. Tighten the dr in s ddle screws evenly nd firmly so good se l is m de. Avoid over tightening.
d. Drill 5/16" hole in the dr in pipe through the dr in fitting opening. Support the dr in g inst drilling
pressure.
e. Insert bl ck dr in line tubing into compression nut nd tighten.

Installation of Ball Valve Assembly
The b ll v lve nd quick connect d pter must be inst lled on the RO stor ge t nk.
. Put 2-3 wr ps of Teflon t pe on the stor ge t nk thre ds, nd on the 1/4" x 3/8" m le connector.
b. Inst ll the 1/4" x 3/8" m le connector onto the b ll v lve. Tighten the fitting very gently until it is snug.
Be very careful not to over-tighten or the threads may strip.
c. Tighten the b ll v lve ssembly onto the RO stor ge t nk. Tighten the fitting very gently until it is snug.

Drilling Sink Hole
The typic l 1-1/8" sink hole will ccommod te most st nd rd or ir g p spigots. Once the loc tion of the
spigot h s been determined, lw ys check below the point you re bout to drill to ensure it is
unobstructed nd th t it isn't over reinforcing rib.
. Center punch the desired loc tion to provide st rting point for your drill.
b. Drill 1/8" pilot hole.
c. Enl rge the pilot hole using 1-1/8" high speed steel hole s w for air gap faucet.
d. Enl rge the pilot hole using 9/16" drill bit for st nd rd f ucet.
e. Remove ll burrs nd sh rp edges.
f. Immedi tely cle n up the sink re .
NOTE: If n en mel or porcel in sink is encountered, it is very import nt th t the l yer of porcel in be
removed before following the steps outlined bove. This c n be ccomplished by gently grinding w y,
using hobby grinder nd silicon c rbide wheel, enough re of porcel in down to the met l b se to
ccommod te 1-1/8" high speed steel hole s w. The hole s w c nnot cont ct surrounding porcel in or
chipping c n occur. Now the steps outlined bove c n be followed.
Installation of Air Gap Faucet
1. Pl ce the chrome w sher nd the rubber w sher on the b se of the f ucet.
2. Apply 5-7 wr ps of the teflon t pe to the bottom of the br ss stem. Inst ll 3/8" quick connect f ucet
d pter provided. Tighten gently until fitting is snug. Be c reful not to over-tighten s the thre ds m y
strip.
3. Att ch the 1/4" brine w ter disch rge line to the brine input (sm ll) b rb nd 1/4" or 3/8" dr in line to
the brine output (l rge) b rb.
4. Mount the f ucet nd complete ssembly.
Note: Before connections re m de, tubing should be cut to ensure ne t nd orderly inst ll tion. The
stor ge t nk nd spigot tubes should be s short s possible so th t the gre test possible flow c n be
obt ined from the spigot.

Installation of Spigot

Installation of Membrane
Important: Keep the mem rane and your hands
clean in order to avoid acterial contamination of the
mem rane.
1. Disconnect the hose on the end of the
membr ne housing end c p.
2. Unscrew the end-c p.
3. Hold the membr ne upside down, cut the pl stic
b g t the bottom, nd dr in off ny liquid.
4. The bottom tip of the membr ne must se t firmly
in the protruding fem le socket inside the
membr ne housing.
5. Without touching the membr ne, slide it into the membr ne housing nd disc rd the pl stic b g.
With your thumb or the p lm of your h nd, push the membr ne ll the w y into the housing.
Important: Do not use force, and ensure that the mem rane is not protruding from the housing.
6. Repl ce the membr ne housing end c p nd h nd tighten.
7. Push the tubing b ck into the quick connect fitting. Ensure the tubing is ll the w y in.
Connecting Components
. Connect the 1/4" green tube from the (90° elbow) 5 micron pre-filter fitting to the fitting on the cold
w ter supply line.
b. Connect the 3/8" blue tube from the (90° elbow) gr nul r ctiv ted c rbon post-filter fitting to the
quick connect fitting on the thre ded pipe on the spigot.
c. Connect the 3/8" blue tube from the (m le tee) gr nul r ctiv ted c rbon post-filter fitting to the fitting
on the stor ge t nk.
d. Standard Faucet - Connect the 1/4" bl ck tube to the dr in fitting.

Start-Up Procedure
WARNING: To prevent microbiologic l growth nd freezing, this reverse osmosis system cont ins
preserv tive solution which, if ingested, m y c use irrit tion of the g strointestin l tr ct, colic, di rrhe
or other simil r symptoms. Therefore, 5 g llons ( pproxim tely two full t nks) must be dr wn from the
spigot to flush out the preserv tive. This m y represent two or three d ys of running, depending on
conditions of the feed w ter.
The c rbon filters require some rinsing to remove c rbon fines. The filters will rinse out on their own by
llowing the system to produce 2 full t nks of w ter nd disc rding the RO product w ter. The following
procedure m y be followed if it is desired to rinse the filters immedi tely before producing n RO product
w ter.
. Disconnect the green line from the uto shut off v lve th t runs from the outlet side of the Pre-C rbon
Filter to the Auto Shut Off V lve. Direct tubing into p il or c tch b sin.
b. Turn on the feed w ter by opening the needle v lve on the feed w ter s ddle v lve nd c tch the
w ter in the p il. The w ter rinsing the filter will ppe r gr yish until the fines re rinsed out. When
the w ter returns to cle r, close the needle v lve. Re-connect the green tubing b ck into the Auto Shut
Off V lve. The filters re now rinsed.
c. Turn on feedw ter by opening the needle v lve. Immedi tely check for ny signs of le k. Correct
ny problems if necess ry. Turn on stor ge t nk v lve.
d. It will not be uncommon to experience ir bubbles or dissolved ir in the product w ter. This will
dis ppe r fter the unit is in service for short period of time.
e. The first two full t nks must be disc rded to flush the membr ne preserv tive out of the system s well
s flush the c rbon fines from the Post C rbon Filter.

Maintenance Schedule
This schedule is designed for the ver ge pot ble w ter supply nd should be followed to ensure the
proper functioning of your drinking w ter system.
Pre-Filter - The pre-filter cont ins 5 micron mech nic l filter element. Its function is to remove
suspended p rticles from the feed w ter, thus reducing the possibility of clogging the reverse osmosis
membr ne. The pre-filter element should be repl ced every twelve months or e rlier depending on the
qu lity of the feed w ter.
Pre- arbon Filter -The pre-filter cont ins gr nul r ctiv ted c rbon. Its function is to remove
chlorine from the incoming w ter to prevent ny d m ge to the TFC membr ne. The Pre-C rbon filter
c rtridge should be repl ced every 24 months.
ombination Five Micron Pre-Filter and arbon Filter - Removes tiny p rticles of
suspended dirt, sediment nd org nics, while protecting TFC membr ne from chlorine. This filter should
be repl ced every 12 months.
Reverse Osmosis Module - The reverse osmosis module cont ins semi-perme ble membr ne.
Its function is to sep r te w ter molecules from dissolved impurities in the feed w ter. This is
ccomplished by pplic tion of hydr ulic pressure gre ter th n the osmotic pressure in w ter cont ining
dissolved solids. The life of the membr ne c n be determined by me suring the percent ge of rejection of
tot l dissolved solids in the w ter. The membr ne should be repl ced every 24 to 36 months when its
efficiency will decre se.
Post- arbon Filter - The post-filter cont ins gr nul r ctiv ted c rbon. Its function is to remove ny
t ste nd odor from the w ter prior to delivering it to the spigot. The post-filter c rtridge should be repl ced
every 24 months.
Changing Filters
Important: This RO System contains filters, which
must e replaced at regular intervals to maintain
proper performance. See Maintenance Schedule for
the recommended interval for changing the filters.
Local conditions may dictate more frequent cartridge
replacement. Use a drip pan to catch any water that
may spill when the housings are removed. Use only
factory approved filters.
1. Close the s ddle v lve by turning fully clockwise
nd open the f ucet by lifting the h ndle. Allow
stor ge t nk to empty.
2. Loosen nd remove the ppropri te filter
housing(s). Disc rd the c rtridge(s).
3. W sh the inside of the housings using mild detergent nd soft cloth. Do not use br sive cle ners
or p ds. Thoroughly rinse ll so p from the housing before re- ssembly.

Sanitization Procedures for your Reverse Osmosis System
S nitiz tion is simple but import nt p rt of regul r m inten nce routine required to keep your Reverse
Osmosis Drinking W ter System oper ting properly.
Recording the d tes of ll m inten nce nd s nitiz tion done on the unit is good ide s well s m rking
on your c lend r future service interv l d tes. Your w ter system inst ller m y h ve m inten nce
service progr m to de l with c rtridge repl cement nd system s nitiz tion by setting up regul r
scheduled service c lls.
Sanitization maintenance of the Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System should be performed:
• Upon inst ll tion
• At le st every 6 - 12 months s p rt of regul r m inten nce routine.
• Whenever the pre-filter nd post-filter c rtridges re repl ced s p rt of regul r m inten nce routine.
• Whenever the reverse osmosis membr ne is repl ced.
• After the system requires ny servicing or routine m inten nce by your loc l w ter tre tment
speci list.
• After long periods of time when system is not used ( pproxim tely 30 d ys or more)
• Whenever evidence of h rmful b cteriologic l cont min tion of the system h s been discovered. In
this c se cont ct your loc l w ter tre tment speci list to disinfect your reverse osmosis system, nd
identify nd elimin te the source of cont min tion.
Materials required for Sanitization of the Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System:
• Mild so p solution to cle n v rious components. So p used should be s b sic s possible nd not
cont in ny fr gr nces or dditives.
• Soft brush to ssist cle ning v rious components. (DO NOT USE SCOURING PADS OR ANY OTHER
TYPE OF INSTRUMENT THAT COULD POTENTIALLY SCRATCH THE SURFACES OF THE UNIT.)
• Me suring spoon or device.
• Household ble ch, typic lly cont ining 5.25% of chlorine.
• One (1) G llon of pot ble w ter to mix up disinfect nt solution. (DO NOT USE WATER THAT IS
NOT CONSIDERED POTABLE OR IS OF A QUESTIONABLE NATURE TO MIX UP THE
DISINFECTANT SOLUTION)
• Drip p n or c tch b sin to collect ny solution or w ter spilled long with p per towels to cle nup ny
spills.
• Silicone B sed Lubric nt to pply to O-Rings. (DO NOT USE PETROLEUM BASED LUBRICANTS)

Other important requirements of note:
• Before beginning inst ll tion nd/or s nitiz tion procedure, m ke sure th t ll tools used re
disinfected.
• Thoroughly w sh h nds with so p before beginning inst ll tion nd/or s nitiz tion procedure. If your
h nds come into cont ct with ny uns nit ry surf ce while performing this procedure or the
inst ll tion, h nds should be rew shed with so p.
• Any surf ces used to work with to set v rious components on to dry, should be cle ned nd
disinfected.
• Any repl cement c rtridges, membr nes nd cle ned components should be h ndled s little s
possible.
• A new p ir of l tex or surgic l type gloves m y be used to perform ny s nitiz tion procedure, but
lso be w re th t if the gloves surf ce comes into cont ct with ny uns nit ry surf ce while
performing this procedure or the inst ll tion, the gloves should lso be re-disinfected or repl ced.
IMPORTANT: This Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System should not be used on any water
supply sources that are microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate
disinfection before and/or after the system.

Sanitization Steps
STEP 1: TURN OFF WATER SUPPLY - CLOSE INLET
SUPPLY NEEDLE VALVE ALL THE WAY
STEP 2: DEPRESSURIZE SYSTEM - OPEN FAUCET
SUPPLY UNTIL ALL WATER IS EMPTIED
Use cle n drip p n or b sin to continue to c tch ny spilled
w ter rem ining in the housings s you remove the
membr ne nd c rtridges.
STEP 3: DISCONNECT THE FEED TUBE FROM THE
MEMBRANE HOUSING MODULE. UNSCREW THE
MEMBRANE HOUSING MODULE END CAP AND REMOVE
THE MEMBRANE ELEMENT. PUT THE MEMBRANE
ELEMENT ASIDE ON A CLEAN DISINFECTED SURFACE.
(Unless the membr ne element is being repl ced t this
time, then disc rd the old membr ne.)
STEP 4: OPEN THE FILTER SUMPS WITH THE SUMP
WRENCH SUPPLIED AND REMOVE THE CARTRIDGES.
STEP 5: CLEAN THE FILTER SUMPS WITH SOAP AND

REQUIRED. CLEAN THE INSIDE OF THE MEMBRANE
HOUSING AS WELL.

STEP 6: REINSTALL THE FILTER SUMPS (EXCEPT THE
1ST PRE-FILTER SUMP) AND THE MEMBRANE CAP AND
RECONNECT THE INLET TUBING TO THE MEMBRANE
HOUSING CAP.
STEP 7: MIX UP A DISINFECTANT SOLUTION OF 1
TEASPOON OF 5.25% BLEACH IN 1 GALLON OF WATER.

STEP 8: POUR THE MIXED DISINFECTANT SOLUTION
INTO THE 1ST PRE-FILTER SUMP AND RE-INSTALL.
STEP 9: OPEN THE INLET SADDLE VALVE AND OPEN
THE FAUCET. WHEN WATER BEGINS RUNNING FROM
THE FAUCET AGAIN, CLOSE THE FAUCET AND ALLOW
THE PRESSURE TANK TO FILL FOR 5 - 10 MINUTES.
WHEN THE PRESSURE TANK FEELS LIKE IT HAS
FILLED, CLOSE THE INLET SUPPLY NEEDLE VALVE.
STEP 10: ALLOW THE SYSTEM TO SIT WITH THE
DILUTED SANITIZING SOLUTION FOR APPROXIMATELY
20 MINUTES.
STEP 11: OPEN THE FAUCET AND PURGE THE TANK
AND SYSTEM OF THE SANITIZING SOLUTION.
STEP 12: REINSTALL THE MEMBRANE AND REPLACE
THE CARTRIDGES. PURGE THE PRE-CARBON
CARTRIDGE OF FINES ( s per inst ll tion instructions).
OPEN THE INLET SUPPLY NEEDLE VALVE AND ALLOW
SYSTEM TO FILL.
OPEN THE FAUCET AND DISCARD THE FIRST TANK
FULL OF WATER. (IF A NEW MEMBRANE ELEMENT IS
INSTALLED A THIS TIME, DISCARD THE FIRST TWO
TANKS FULL OF WATER).
