1 Notes on the assembly and installation instructions
1.1 Qualifications
These instructions are intended for weinor retailers and partners and assume relevant
knowledge. All installation work must be performed by a trained electrician.
1.2 Notes on remote control units
•Remote control units transmitting on the same frequency may disrupt reception.
•The range of the transmitted signal is restricted by law and structural measures.
1.3 Depiction
Warnings1.3.1
The warnings differentiate between personal injury and damage to property. The signal word
"Danger" is used for personal injury, and "Caution" for property damage.

2 Safety notes
2.1 Fundamental safety notes
•Keep unauthorised persons away from the unit until it is ready for use.
•The connected electrical load must tally with that listed in the technical data.
•The regulations of the local energy providers and the VDE 0100 provisions for humid and wet
areas must be observed.
•Only connect the remote receiver to devices approved by weinor.
2.2 Electricity hazards
•Work involving connections to 230 V mains may only be carried out by a trained electrician.
•Disconnect the unit from the power supply before performing any work.
•weinor recommendation: a residual current circuit breaker (trip switch) should also be fitted to
protect the indoor installation.
2.3 Intended use
The BiRec MA + MA-K remote receiver has been designed solely to operate weinor motors
installed in awnings.
2.4 Improper use
The remote receiver may only be used on the condition that a malfunctioning hand transmitter or
remote receiver does not pose a danger to people, animals or objects. The device may only be
connected to devices and units approved by weinor. The system may not be operated in areas
where the transmitted signals might interfere with other devices (e.g. in hospitals or at airports).

3.2 Function
Connection lead3.2.1
The BiRec MA remote receiver is equipped with a dedicated Hirschmann connector which
directly connects to the awning. The 5 m lead can be trimmed and connected by a qualified
electrician at the site of installation. The remote receiver is supplied pre-fitted to the awning and
with all the cables ready-connected.
The BiRec MA-K remote receiver includes a short lead, approx 0.2 m long, and an integrated
STAS3 Hirschmann connector.
Connector pin assignment3.2.2
The following connector pin assignment is used (see figure 1 for details):
•5 m power cable with bare end: 230 V power supply
•MA-K only: approx. 0.2 m cable with STAS3 Hirschmann connector: 230 V power supply
•Hirschmann STAK3 (integrated, female): for awning motor
If the motor cable is fitted with a STAS3 Hirschmann connector, the following pin assignment is

3.3 Operation
To switch the hand transmitter channel, see the hand transmitter operating instructions.
The BiRec MA + MA-K remote receiver has been pre-set in the factory to perform the following
functions when used together with a hand transmitter:

4 Getting started
4.1 Pre-programmed system
The system is usually supplied pre-programmed. This means that all the components can be
controlled with the hand transmitter supplied. In this case, once the system is assembled and
installed, you can immediately start using the remote receiver and check that all the functions are
working properly.
4.2 Unprogrammed system
On rare occasions or if servicing has been carried out, however, the system will need to be
programmed on site. This is done by pairing up the hand transmitter and remote receiver (see
Section 6).
4.3 Checking the functions
Once all the installation work is completed, you will need to check that the system is working
properly.

6 Programming
6.1 Programming the remote receiver
The system is usually supplied pre-programmed. This means that, when the system is
delivered, all the components can be controlled using the hand transmitter supplied. On
rare occasions or if servicing has been carried out, however, the system will need to be
programmed on site. This is done by pairing up the hand transmitter and remote receiver
and setting them to various functions.
6.2 Program the awning
1.
Connect all receivers that have not yet been connected to an electricity supply (electrically
installed). In the case of receivers that have already been electrically installed, briefly
disconnect the power supply immediately before programming.
2. Start programming mode: within 5 minutes of disconnecting the power supply, hold down the
LEARN key (1) on the hand transmitter for 2 seconds. The remote receiver then enters
programming mode for about 2 minutes. During this time, the awning moves up for 4
seconds and then down for 4 seconds.
3. On the hand transmitter, select the channel you want to use to program the awning (e.g.
Channel 1).
4. Immediately after the awning starts moving up (within the first second), press the UP
key on the hand transmitter. The receiver confirms the command by briefly stopping the
awning and then moving it up further. If the receiver does not confirm the command, simply
repeat this step on one of the next cycles.
5. Immediately after the awning starts moving down (within the first second), press the
DOWN key on the hand transmitter. The receiver confirms this step by leaving programming
mode; the sun protection stops moving.
Finally, check that the awning has been successfully programmed.
If the awning cannot be operated after the programming process, the hand transmitter is possibly
still in learning mode (transmission control LED fast flashing orange). Terminate the
programming process by pressing the STOP button for 6 seconds. Afterwards it should be
possible to operate the awning. Otherwise the programming process must be repeated as
described.

7 Maintenance and repairs
Electric shock!
Work involving 230 V mains may only be carried out by a trained electrician.
Disconnect the unit from the power supply before performing any work.
7.1 Maintaining the remote receiver
It is not possible to carry out repairs on the remote receiver itself. Devices that are not working
properly or are defective must be replaced. Before replacing a component that is not working
correctly, check all of the connections one last time to ensure they are securely fitted. Also
consult the guidelines for help contained in Sect. 5 Troubleshooting.

2 Instructions de sécurité
2.1 Consignes de sécurité fondamentales
•Tenez les personnes non-autorisées à distance de l’installation jusqu’à ce que celle-ci
soit opérationnelle.
•La puissance de raccordement électrique doit correspondre aux données techniques.
•Les prescriptions des fournisseurs d’énergie locaux ainsi que les dispositions pour les
locaux mouillés et humides selon la norme VDE 0100 doivent être respectées.
•Le récepteur radio doit uniquement être relié à des appareils autorisés par weinor.
2.2 Dangers relatifs à l‘électricité
•Les raccordements au réseau 230 V doivent uniquement être effectués par un
électricien.
•Avant d’effectuer tous travaux, mettre l’installation hors tension.
•Recommandation de weinor: l’installation de la maison doit être sécurisée par un
disjoncteur différentiel.
2.3 Utilisation conforme
Le récepteur radio BiRec MA est conçu uniquement pour la commande d’actionnements de
stores weinor.
2.4 Utilisation abusive
Le récepteur radio doit uniquement être utilisé dans le cas où un dysfonctionnement de
l’émetteur manuel ou du récepteur radio lui-même ne représente aucun danger pour les
personnes, les animaux ou les objets. L’appareil doit uniquement être raccordé avec les
installations et les appareils weinor autorisés. Le système ne doit pas être utilisé dans les
zones comportant d’autres appareils qui peuvent être perturbés par les signaux radio (par
ex. dans des hôpitaux et les aéroports).

3.2 Fonction
Câble de raccordement3.2.1
Le récepteur radio BiRec MA est pourvu d’un propre connecteur Hirschmann pour le
raccordement direct du store. Le câble d’alimentation de 5 m de long peut être raccourci et
raccordé sur place par un électricien. À la livraison du store, le récepteur radio est déjà intégré et
câblé.
Le récepteur radio BiRec MA-K contient une conduite d’alimentation courte de 0,2 m avec un
connecteur Hirschmann STAS3 intégrée.

L’affectation des connecteurs suivante est utilisée (pour les détails voir illustration 1):

4 Mise en service
4.1 Système paramétré
Généralement, le système est livré paramétré. Ce qui signifie que tous les composants peuvent
être commandés avec l'émetteur manuel livré. Dans ce cas, vous pouvez mettre le récepteur
radio en service directement après le montage du système, et effectuer un contrôle du
fonctionnement.
4.2 Système non paramétré
Dans de rares cas, ou dans le cas d'un entretien, le système doit cependant être paramétré sur
place. Pour ce faire, l'émetteur manuel et le récepteur radio sont affectés l'un à l'autre (voir
chapitre 6).
4.3 Vérification des fonctions
Une fois l'installation entièrement achevée, vous devez contrôler que le système fonctionne
correctement.
