1 Notes on the assembly and installation instructions
1.1 Qualifications
These instructions are intended for weinor retailers and partners and assume relevant
knowledge. All installation work must be performed by a trained electrician.
1.2 Notes on remote control units
•Remote control units transmitting on the same frequency may disrupt reception.
•The range of the transmitted signal is restricted by law and structural measures.
1.3 Depiction
Warnings
The warnings differentiate between personal injury and damage to property. The signal word
"Danger" is used for personal injury, and "Caution" for property damage.

2 Safety notes
2.1 Fundamental safety notes
•Keep unauthorised persons away from the unit until it is ready for use.
•The connected electrical load must tally with that listed in the technical data.
•The regulations of the local energy providers and the VDE 0100 provisions for humid and
wet areas must be observed.
•Only connect the remote-receiver to devices approved by weinor.
2.2 Dangers of electricity
•Work involving connections to 230 V mains may only be carried out by a trained electrician.
•Disconnect the unit from the power supply before performing any work.
•weinor recommendation: a residual current circuit breaker (trip switch) should also be fitted
to protect the indoor installation.
2.3 Risk of fire when operating a radiant heater (BiRec MVLED only)
•Check the safety function: the awning must extend fully first, followed by the Valance Plus.
•The optional heater must be connected and protected with fuses separately (see the
heater's assembly instructions).
2.4 Risks from the Valance Plus (BiRec MVLED only)
•Check the retraction protection: the awning must extend fully first, followed by the Valance
Plus. In the case of retraction, the Valance Plus must retract fully first, followed by the
awning.
•While the Valance Plus is extending, touching it may result in electrostatic discharge.
2.5 Intended use
The BiRec MVLED/MLED remote-receiver is exclusively intended for controlling weinor awning
drives and the weinor lighting system.
2.6 Improper use
The remote-receiver may only be used on the condition that a malfunctioning hand transmitter
or remote-receiver does not pose a danger to people, animals or objects. The device may only
be connected to devices and units approved by weinor. The system may not be operated in
areas where the transmitted signals might interfere with other devices (e.g. in hospitals or at
airports).

3.2 Function
Connection lead
The BiRec MVLED/MLED remote-receiver can be fitted to any connection that has its own
connector. The receiver has connection leads for the awning, valance (BiRec MVLED only), light
and mains supply. The remote-receiver is supplied pre-fitted to the awning and with all the cables
ready-connected.
Connector pin assignment
The following connector pin assignment is used (see Fig. 1 for details):
•2-pole AMP male connector, 230 V
•2 flat plugs, 2.8x0.8, male/female: light LED
•4-pole AMP female connector: motors for awning and Valance Plus
Valance Plus (BiRec MVLED only)
The Valance Plus has a total height of up to 210 cm. You will need to adapt the actual extension
height required to the conditions on site. You can do this by programming the end position (see
separate instructions).
The cable for the valance motor is laid with protection in a corrugated pipe, through the Arm
profiles.
Scope of delivery
In the case of individual deliveries, the BiRec MVLED/MLED remote-receiver is delivered as
follows:
•Remote-receiver with connection leads for the awning, Valance Plus (BiRec MVLED only),
light and mains supply

3.3 Operation
To switch the hand transmitter channel, see the hand transmitter operating
instructions.
The BiRec MVLED/MLED remote-receiver has been pre-set in the factory to perform the following
functions when used together with a hand transmitter:
•Channel 1 = Awning and Valance Plus
•Channel 2 = Light
•Channel 3 = Other component (optional)
The table below describes the factory default settings.

4 Getting started
4.1 Pre-programmed system
The system is usually supplied pre-programmed. This means that all the components can be
controlled with the hand transmitter supplied. In this case, once the system is assembled and
installed, you can immediately start using the remote-receiver and check that all the functions
are working properly.
4.2 Unprogrammed system
On rare occasions or if servicing has been carried out, however, the system will need to be
programmed on site. This is done by pairing up the hand transmitter and remote-receiver and
setting them to various functions (see Section 5).
4.3 Checking the functions
Once all the installation work is completed, you will need to check that the system is working
properly and that the individual components are paired.

5 Programming
5.1 Programming the remote-receiver
The system is usually supplied pre-programmed. Therefore, when the system is
delivered, all the components can be controlled with the hand transmitter supplied. On
rare occasions or if servicing has been carried out, however, the system will need to be
programmed on site. This is done by pairing up the hand transmitter and remote-receiver
and setting them to various functions.
5.2 Programming the awning
1.
In the case of receivers that have already been electrically installed, briefly disconnect the
power supply immediately before programming.
2. Start programming mode: within 5 minutes of disconnecting the power supply, press the
LEARN key (1) for 2 seconds on the hand transmitter. The remote-receiver then enters
programming mode for about 2 minutes. During this time, the awning moves up for 4
seconds and then down for 4 seconds.
3. Immediately after the awning starts moving up (within the first second), press the UP
key on the hand transmitter. The receiver confirms the command by briefly stopping the
awning and then moving it up further. If the receiver does not confirm the command, simply
repeat this step on one of the next cycles.
4. Immediately after the awning starts moving down (within the first second), press the
DOWN key on the hand transmitter. The receiver confirms this step by leaving programming
mode; the sun protection stops moving.
5. If integrated lighting is connected to the BiRec MVLED/MLED, the light programming mode
will start automatically. Now program the light by taking the following steps. For designs with
no light, stop programming mode by pressing
the STOP key.

5.3 Programming the light
1. The light alternates between 100% and 50% power.
2. Press the learning key on the hand transmitter for 2 seconds. This step does not apply to the
unidirectional hand transmitter (Remoto). The light is currently in learning mode.
3. On the hand transmitter, select the channel you want to use to program the lighting (e.g.
Channel 2).
4. Within the first second during which the lighting brightens to 100% power, briefly press the
UP key. The receiver confirms this command by briefly switching off and then on.
5. Then, within the first second during which the lighting dims to 50% power, briefly press the
DOWN key. The receiver confirms this programming by briefly switching off.
Initialise any other transmitters or sensors that are being used.
Finally, check that the awning and lighting have been successfully programmed.
5.4 Programming other transmitters on a receiver
1. Select the appropriate channel on a transmitter already programmed on this receiver.
2. Start the programming mode. Press the UP key, DOWN key and LEARN key for at least 6
seconds until the status indicator lights up briefly.
3. Briefly press LEARN key on the transmitter to be programmed until the status indicator lights
up briefly.
4. Now proceed as in 5.2 for drivers or 5.3 for lights.
5.5 Deleting all transmitters on the receiver
1. Select any of the receiver's channels (main drive, light or valance) on a transmitter
programmed on this receiver.
2. Press the UP key, DOWN key, STOP key and LEARN key for at least 5 seconds. The status
indicator lights up twice briefly orange-green and then red.
