INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing a Nordic Sensi®Chair. By reading
this Instruction for Use, which contain important information
about the use and handling of the product, you will ensure
your own safety and that of other people.
Intended Use
The product provides sensory stimulation, by a comfortable
rocking motion, Musicure®music, the built-in bass vibration
and the positioning and weight accessories.
The intention of using the device is to decrease agitation,
shouting, or aggressive behaviors, to obtain relaxation,
to obtain increased arousal, to stimulate/obtain cognitive
response, to stimulate and to improve overall well-being and
quality of life for the patients/users.
The Nordic Sensi®Chair can enhance a better, calmer and
more pleasant working environment allowing a better quality
of care.
The target users of the device include all people with special
needs including neuropsychological challenges who can
benefit from using the chair, and healthy persons with the
desire for relaxation.
The product is intended for use by one person only.
Contraindications
There are no known medical contraindications for using the
product. If there are any doubts or medical concerns, the user
should be seen by a professional caregiver or clinician, for a
final recommendation on the continued use of the product.
The professional user is responsible for the planning and
implementation of the rocking session, and it is always the
professional user´s responsibility to determine and ensure the
patient´s suitability for the treatment where the Nordic Sensi®
Chair is used.
The professional user should read this Instruction for Use
carefully before planning any rocking sessions with Nordic
Sensi®Chair.
If the user is feeling uncomfortable, dizzy, or nauseous by
using the chair, the introduction speed to the active programs
should be slowed down, the sessions should be shortened,
the backrest placed in a more upright position, or the
treatment should be stopped.
Parts and accessories
Only original parts and accessories can be used with the Nordic
Sensi®Chair.
Pay special attention to the mattress, where only original
matresses fit safely on the product.
Service Life
The expected service life of this product is eight years when
used daily and in accordance with the safety instructions
and used correctly, as indicated in these Instruction for Use.
The effective service life can vary according to frequency and
intensity of use as well as the cleaning or disinfection method
chosen.
Warranty Information
We offer a manufacturer’s warranty for the product in
accordance with our General Terms and Conditions.
Warranty claims can only be made through the local distributor
from whom the product was obtained.
Limitation of Liability
Wellness Nordic accepts no liability for damage to the product
arising from:
• Incorrect use or non-compliance with the
Instruction for Use.
• Natural wear and tear
• Technical modifications
If a serious incident occurs in relation to this medical
device, affecting the user, or the patient then the user or
patient should report the serious incident to the medical
device manufacturer or the distributor. In the European
Union, the user should also report the serious incident to
the Competent Authority in the member state where they
are located.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Electromagnetic disturbance warnings
The Nordic Sensi®Chair is tested and approved for medical use
according to MDR. However, still some precautions should be
observed in order to avoid electromagnetic disturbances.
Warning 1
Use of this equipment adjacent to or stacked with other
equipment should be avoided because it could result in
improper operation. If such use is necessary, this equipment
and the other equipment should be observed to verify that they
are operating normally.
Warning 2
The use of accessories, transducers and cables other than
those specified or provided by the manufacturer of this
equipment could result in increased electromagnetic emissions
or decreased electromagnetic immunity of this equipment and
result in improper operation.
Warning 3
Portable RF communications equipment (including peripherals
such as antenna cables and external antennas) should be
used no closer than 30 cm (12 inches) to any part of the
Nordic Sensi®Chair (NSC-21), including cables specified by the
manufacturer.
Failure to comply with these warnings could result
in impaired performance of the equipment.
Interference with other devices
Do not use in Hyper baric oxygen therapy, flammable
anaesthetic mixtures with air or in atmospheres with high
oxygen content. Do not use with MRI equipment, cardiac
defibrillators or, high-frequency surgical equipment.
In cases of emergency, where defibrillation or CPR is
needed, the user needs to be evacuated from the chair
prior to the treatment.
Do not use in the vicinity of potential therapy equipment,
low frequency electric therapy equipment, high frequency
electric therapy equipment, interference wave therapy
devices such as electromagnetic therapy devices, x-ray
equipment, high voltage equipment, microwave ovens or
machine tools.
Failure to observe this warning may result
in accidents or injury.
Other precautions
Before using the Nordic Sensi®Chair in a health care
setting, a clinical assessment of the condition of the user
must be carried out by a trained caregiver.
Do not put your hands or feet in the following gaps
in the unit:
a ) Gap between the backrest and the seat
b ) Gap between the legrest and the seat
c ) Cover area between the pedestal and the seat.
Do not move the unit while someone is sitting on it.
Always stop the unit before the allowing the user to get on
or off the unit.
When reclining the backrest and the legrest, check that
there are no children or pets around the unit.
When moving the unit with the wheels, remove all obstacles
from around it, make sure the backrest is in the upright
position, lift the legrest no higher than waist height, and roll
it slowly.
Do not stand on the backrest or legrest.
Do not allow children to use the unit. Do not allow children
to play on the unit, backrest, or footrest.
Keep the controller out of reach of children. Children might
remove the batteries and accidentally swallow them.
Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight or high
temperature, such as in front of a heating source, as this
can cause discolouration or hardening of the surface
material.
Do not use the unit in bathrooms or other damp or humid
places. Failure to observe this precaution may result in
electric shock or malfunction.
Place the unit on a totally flat surface. Failure to observe
this caution may result in the unit tipping over.
Always check that the fabric on the pedestal has not been
ripped before using the unit. Also check other areas to
ensure that the fabric has not been ripped. If you find a rip,
no matter how small, immediately stop using the unit and
disconnect the power cord.
Contact you local distributor to have the chair repaired.
Failure to observe the above precautions may
result in poor performance, fire or break-down of
the product.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Grounding instructions
This product must be earthed. Should it malfunction or break
down, earthing provides a path of least resistance for electric
current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This product is
equipped with a cord with an earthing conductor and a an
earthing plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate
outlet that is properly installed and earthed in accordance with
all local regulations and ordinances.
Danger
Improper connection of the conductor can result in electric
shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service technician
if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly
earthed. Do not modify the plug provided with the product –
if it does not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a
qualified electrician. This unit has an earthing plug. Make sure
that the product is connected to power outlet with the same
configuration as the plug. Do not use an adaptor with this unit.
Do not connect this product to improper ground-
wiring of outlet which is equipped in your buildings.
Technical warnings
Place the unit indoors on a totally flat surface.
Remove dust from the power plug periodically.
When removing the power plug from the outlet, hold the
power plug (not the power cord).
Unplug the power plug immediately and contact your
local distributor to arrange for a repair if the unit ceases
to function or is otherwise not working properly. Do not
disassemble, repair, or modify the unit yourself, but contact
your local distributor.
Always unplug the unit from the electrical outlet before
cleaning.
Do not damage the power cord or power plug. (Do not
damage, alter, expose to heat sources, bend, twist, pull
forcibly, bundle or place heavy objects on the cord.)
Always insert the power plug all the way into the outlet.
Failure to observe this precaution may result in electric
shock or fire due to heat generation.
Do not exceed the rated values of the plug and the wiring
or use any voltage other than the rated voltage. Do not use
the unit with a transformer.
Do not plug/unplug the power plug with wet hands. Failure
to observe this precaution may result in electric shock.
Failure to observe the technical warnings may
result in poor performance, fire or break-down of
the product.
Unplug the unit immediately if there is a power outage.

Comfortable swing
The user has the sensation of being rocked in a cradle. The comfortable
swing of unit provides relaxation to the mind and body.
Bass waves generated from the music
The unit creates bass waves that are generated from the bass frequencies of
the music, providing relaxation to the user.
Music has been preinstalled into the unit. You can also connect an external
music source to the unit to enjoy the music you like.

BEFORE USE
Controller transmitter and unit receivers
•The operation range is approximately 1 m.
•Point the transmitter on the controller to a receiver on the unit.
•Controller signals have a maximum range of 1 m from the unit.
•When the unit receives a command transmission, you should hear
a “beep”.
Note
•If two or more units are set up in the same area, keep some distance
(approx. 2 m) or a shielded screen between them to prevent interference.
•Objects located between the transmitter and receiver may interfere with
transmission.
•If the receiver is exposed to direct sunlight or the strong light of an inverter
fluorescent lamp, transmission may be affected.

1. Make sure there are no tears or rips in the fabric on the pedestal.

2. Check the power cord and the power plug.
Only use the power cable delivered with the product, as this cable is
intended for use in your country.
3. Insert the power cord into the AC inlet on the unit.
Make sure you insert the power cord all the way into the inlet.

• The product is designed to be used indoors.
• The product can be used in the common area, individual rooms
of the users, in treatment rooms wherever appopriate.
The Care and Hospital models can be moved around.

areas.
How to set up the unit
• Unpack the unit.
• The cushion and the neckrest cushion are attached to the unit
before shipping.

BEFORE USE
How to attach the neckrest cushion
Attach the neckrest cushion and adjust the position.
You can raise or lower the position of the neckrest cushion using the belts on
the neckrest cushion.
How to attach the backrest mattress to the unit
Align the hook-and-loop fastener on the rear of the backrest mattress with
the hook-and-loop fastener of the unit.
Both the unit and the backrest mattress have hook-and-loop fasteners.
Attach the backrest mattress so that it is aligned with the side of
the unit.
Avoid covering a receiver as this could hamper transmission.
* Only original mattresses can be used together with the chair.
Trolley
Always lock all 4 wheels of the trolley allowing the chair to be used.
The armrests of the Care and Hospital chair models can swing out.
This opens up the entrance to the chair and the armrest can also be used as
support.
Hospital version
For safety reasons and for easy transfer, the armrests of the Hospital model
can be fully detached by pulling the bracket at the side.
Remove the user from the chair before using a defibrilator or applying CPR.

Preparation
Controller
Insert batteries into the controller.
1. Open the battery compartment cover by sliding it in the
direction of the arrow.
2. Insert two batteries into the controller. Make sure the
orientation (+ and-) is, and insert the end of each battery first.
3. Close the battery compartment cover by
sliding it in the direction of the arrow.
Notes for batteries
• If it becomes difficult to control the unit with the controller or if the
indicators on the controller become faint, replace the batteries.
• When replacing the batteries, install two new LR03 (AAA) alkaline
batteries at the same time. Manganese batteries are not long-lasting.
BEFORE USE
4. Insert the power plug correctly into an electrical outlet.
Warning
• Failure to observe this precaution may result in electric shock,
malfunctioning or fire due to heat generation.
5. Set the main power switch to the “I” (ON) position.
Note
The power will turn off automatically if no operation is performed
within 120 minutes after turning on the power.

1. Adjust the legrest angle
It is easy to adjust the angle of the legrest manually. When the
legrest is raised as shown in the illustration on the left, a click
is heard and the legrest will stop at a position between “A” and
“B”. If the legrest is raised higher than the level position, it will
return to the original “A” position. When doing this, be careful
not to release the legrest too quickly.
2. Place the patient/user in the chair
The Nordic Sensi®Chair is normally operated by the professional
caregiver and serves as a non-pharmacological activity in the
daily care plan.
Position the patient/user so that his/her back is in contact
with the backrest mattress on the unit. If there is gap between
the back and the backrest mattress, this may reduce the
transmission of the bass waves.
When the patient/user has been placed in the chair you can
add accessories such as the positioning kit, U-cushion and
weighted blanket.
3. Press one of the buttons on the controller to light up the
indicators.
The indicators will light up when any button on the controller
is pressed.

Interrupting or stopping the chair
1. Set the main power switch to the “O” (OFF) position.
Note
The power will turn off automatically 120 minutes after the operation
is complete even if you do not set the main power switch to
the “O” (OFF) position.
2. Disconnect the power plug from the electrical outlet.

reclined position to its original position.

The patient/user can benefit from using the chair once or several times a day. The chair should be introduced to the patient and
used at least 5 times before the effect is assessed by a professional caregiver, who will evaluate its further use.
