3.2 Mounting the Assembly
3.2.1 Wall Mounting
The 200-01 Mounting can be directly mounted to a wall. The
type of wall may be concrete, plasterboard, or wood. Please fol-
low the instructions below to mount the assembly on a wall.
1. Open shipping carton. Remove the mounting assembly
from the shipping carton.
2. Loosen cover. Loosen the top cover screw or, if lockable, in-
sert key and rotate key to the left (counterclockwise) and
remove the cover by sliding it outward from the assembly.
3. Determine the mounted location on wall. Ensure the as-
sembly will be mounted in a location with unobstructed
access to it and which has adequate room to allow the cover
to be removed, and that adequate horizontal and vertical
space be left between multiple installations to allow for
proper cable access and ventilation.
4. Mark the mounting hole locations to be drilled. Using the
assembly itself as a template, have one person lift the as-
sembly to the exact installation location on and against the
wall while another person levels the assembly and then
marks the exact mounting ear hole locations to be drilled
for the mounting hardware. See Figure 2.
5. Drill holes. Gently set aside the assembly and drill appro-
priately-sized holes to accommodate the mounting screws
or fastening hardware. The size of the holes and the fasten-
ing hardware varies according to the wall type, as listed
below. Do not make the holes too large.
SPlywood or wood studs (preferred): Choose a drill bit
with a slightly smaller diameter than the wood mount-
ing screws and drill all holes to a depth just shy of the
screw length.
SDrywall: Use the chosen toggle bolt periodically as a
guide to check the hole diameter. The correct hole size
is obtained when the toggle bolt, in the closed position
(with wings folded), fits very snugly into the hole. Re-
peat for each hole.
SConcrete: Using a concrete drill bit with a diameter
that will enable the concrete wall fastener to fit very
snugly into the finished hole, drill each hole to the
depth of the fastener.
6. Partially install the mounting screws. Verify that the
mounting screw head (or toggle bolt head) can fit through
the center, largest part of the mounting hole in the mount-
ing ear. If the head fits through the hole in the ear, find the
wall type below and follow those instructions.
SWood - Insert and install all mounting screws until only
¼" of the screws are protruding from the wall surface.
SDrywall - Verify that the shaft of the toggle bolt is long
enough to accommodate the length of the wings in the
folded position plus a length equal to the width of the
drywall plus a length needed to hold onto the bolt. This
is so that when the toggle bolt is inserted into the hole,
that the wings are free to open on the other side of the
drywall and the installer may still hold the bolt (if the
toggle bolt does not have a washer). Once verified, fold
the wings, insert the toggle bolt into the hole, continue
to hold the bolt head, and insert into the hole until the
wings spring open. As soon as the wings spring open,
pull on the bolt while tightening it with a screwdriver,
until ¼" of the bolt remains protruding from the wall.
SConcrete - Remove the screw from the fastener and in-
sert the fastener into the hole, tapping in place with a
hammer, as necessary. Once the fastener is flush
against the wall and secure, insert the screw into the
fastener until only ¼" of the screw is protruding from
the wall surface.
7. Attach assembly to wall.
If Step 6 was completed, lift and align the assembly’s mount-
ing holes with the protruding screws on the wall, then
carefully hang the assembly on the screws. The screw heads
should fit through the center of the mounting holes on the
ears, and when all screw heads have protruded through the
mounting ear holes, the assembly can be gently and slightly
lowered until the top edge of each mounting ear hole stops
at and rests on the protruding screws. While holding the as-
sembly in place, immediately finish driving all screws the
remaining distance into the wall to firmly secure the assem-
bly until it is snug against the wall. Do not turn the screws too
tight.
If Step 6 was not completed because the screw heads would not
fit through center of mounting ear holes, have one person lift
the assembly, align the holes in the mounting ears with the
