GETTING STARTED
Congratulations on purchasing your WhirTrix Home non-stick steam iron!
Please read and follow all the instructions in this guide before attempting to use your iron. Keep this
manual handy for future reference.
In the event that a warranty service is required, it is recommended that you record the complete
model number (located on the Product Identification Plate) and the date you purchased the product.
Store it somewhere safe, along with your purchase receipt.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT.
Follow these basic safety precautions in order to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock or injury to
persons or property:
DO:
•Operate the product from a power source of the same voltage, frequency and rating as
indicated on the Product Identification Plate.
•Switch off and unplug the appliance from the outlet before filling, emptying, cleaning, when
not in use, before assembling or disassembling parts.
•Use with a residual current device (safety switch) to reduce the risk of scalding or other
injury.
•Avoid touching hot surfaces, handles and knobs.
•Regularly check the power cord for damage.
•Always remove the plug from the wall socket by pulling on the plug, not the power cord.
•If an extension lead is required, use a 10amp power cord. Power cords with a lower amp
rating may burn out. When positioning the power cord, make sure that it cannot be pulled
on or tripped over.
•Avoid overload by not connecting too many appliances to a group.
•Only use this appliance indoors, in dry areas away from water.
•Always place the appliance on a stable, level surface.
•Only pick up the appliance by its handle, as certain parts of the appliance become hot during
use.
•Ensure that the iron’s soleplate does not become damaged by rough surfaces or sharp
objects, e.g. zips.
•Place the appliance on a heat-resistant surface and not, for example, on varnished furniture.
•Place the appliance at a safe distance from the wall or flammable materials, e.g. curtains or
candles.
•Remove the plug from its socket when the appliance is not in use and when cleaning.
•Turn the temperature control dial to [0] before removing the plug from the plug socket.
•Close supervision is required when the product is used by or near children and invalids.
DO NOT:
•Do not operate the product if it has a damaged cord, plug, if the product malfunctions, is
dropped or appears damaged in anyway.
•Return the complete product to the place of purchase for inspection or replacement.

•Do not operate the appliance by means of an external time switch or a separate remote
control system.
•Do not immerse or expose the product or flexible power cord to rain, moisture or any liquid.
•Do not touch the appliance if it has fallen into water. Remove the plug from its socket, turn
off the appliance and do not use it again.
•Do not leave the appliance unattended when in use.
•Do not touch the soleplate during use, as it gets very hot.
•Never let the power cord hang over the edge of or touch any hot surface.
•Do not operate or place any part of this product on or near any hot surface, e.g. a gas or
electric burner, a hotplate or heated oven.
Note: The use of attachments or accessories not recommended or sold by the product distributor
may cause personal or property hazards, as well as injuries.

WARNING!
Do not touch the soleplate while the appliance is in use. The surface becomes hot when the
appliance is switched on. It also stays hot for a short while after turned off.
OPERATION
This steam iron can be used to iron items such as clothes, towels, tablecloths and bed sheets. It has
an extremely smooth soleplate that makes ironing easier. This model also has a steam function to
easily remove stubborn creases from clothes.
CAUTION!
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities or lack of experience, without supervision or instruction by a person
responsible for their safety.
HOW TO USE YOUR STEAM IRON
FIRST USE:
•Before first use, remove all packaging materials from the appliance.
•Clean the appliance. (See ‘Cleaning & Maintenance’).
•Fill the water reservoir with water via its opening using the measuring cup provided.
•Stand the iron on its heel on a level, stable, heat-resistant surface.
•Insert the plug into the mains power socket.
•Turn the temperature control dial to [MAX].
•Allow the appliance to warm up for 10 minutes. This will allow any dust and manufacturing
residues to burn away. A small amount of smoke may be released from the appliance while
it is warming up. This is normal and does not indicate a problem with the appliance. Ensure
that there is sufficient ventilation.
•Take the iron by the handle and hold it horizontally above a sink or washbasin.
•Turn the steam dial to [MAX] in order to activate the steam.
•After 1 minute turn the steam off by turning the steam dial to [0].
•Turn the temperature control dial to [0].
•Stand the iron on its heel on a level, stable, heat-resistant surface.
•Remove the plug from the mains power socket.
•Allow the appliance to cool.
•Continue with the procedure in ‘Steam Ironing’.

HOW TO USE YOUR STEAM IRON
STEAM IRONING:
•Fill the water reservoir via its opening using the measuring cup provided.
•Close the opening.
•Ensure that the water level in the water reservoir does not go over the maximum mark.
•Stand the iron on its heel on a level, stable, heat-resistant surface.
•Insert the plug into the mains power socket.
•Set the temperature control dial to the desired setting. The temperature indicator light will
turn on.
•The temperature indicator light will turn off once the set temperature has been reached.
•Move the steam dial to a position between minimum and maximum depending on the
quantity of steam required and the temperature selected.
•Take the iron by the handle and iron the laundry item.
•Stand the iron on its heel after use.
•Turn the temperature control dial to [0].
•Remove the plug from the mains power socket.
•Allow the appliance to cool down completely.
•Clean the appliance. (See ‘Cleaning and Maintenance’).
Note: The iron gives off steam continuously when held horizontally. To stop the steam,
place the iron in a vertical position or move the steam dial to [0].
Warning: The steam function can only be used at the highest temperature setting [MAX].
If the temperature is too low when using the steam function, water may drip onto the plate.

HOW TO USE YOUR STEAM IRON
HOT STEAM:
•While ironing, it is possible to use the shot-steam function.
•The shot-steam function generates a powerful burst of steam that can penetrate particularly
stubborn creases in fabrics.
•To activate the shot-steam function, press the shot-steam button at intervals while ironing.
•The shot-steam function can also be used to iron vertical items, e.g. curtains and hanging
garments.
DRY IRONING:
•To iron without steam, move the steam dial to [0] and follow the instructions in ‘Steam
Ironing’.
SPRAY FUNCTION:
•Ensure that there is sufficient water in the water reservoir.
•Press the spray button slowly (for a dense spray) or quickly (for a vaporised spray).
Warning: For delicate fabrics, moisten the fabric beforehand using the spray function or place
a damp cloth between the iron and the fabric. To avoid staining, do not use the spray function on
silk or synthetic fabrics.

•Always start by ironing fabrics that require a low temperature. Then iron fabrics that require
a higher temperature.
•When setting the iron to a lower setting temperature, wait until the temperature indication
light turns back on. Once the set temperature has been reached, the light will turn off and
you can continue ironing. This ensures that the appliance’s temperature is not too high.
•For fabrics made from mixed fibres, adjust the iron’s temperature setting for the most
delicate fibre.
•If using the appliance after a long period of disuse, first carry out the procedure described in
‘First Use’.
•If using starch, clean the soleplate regularly with a soft, damp cloth to prevent scale build-
up.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
SELF-CLEANING FEATURE
The self-cleaning feature cleans inside the soleplate and removes impurities. This feature should be
used every 10 to 15 days.
•Fill the water reservoir to [MAX].
•Set the temperature control dial to [MAX] and wait for the indicator light to turn off.
•Pull the plug out of the socket and hold the iron horizontally over the sink.
•Hold the clean-out button until all the boiling water, steam and impurities are expelled.
•Wait until the soleplate is completely cool.
•Use a damp cloth to clean the iron’s housing and soleplate.
•Dry the iron’s housing and soleplate with a dry cloth.
•Do not clean the appliance with abrasive cleaners or sharp objects, e.g. a hard brush or
knife.
STORAGE
Empty the water reservoir and stand the iron on its heel in a dry place.

Please note: Any damage caused by failure to observe this instruction guide will immediately
void the warranty. The manufacturer / importer accept no liability for damages caused by careless
use of the appliance not in accordance with the instructions contained in this manual.
DISPOSING OF THE APPLIANCE
This product may not be disposed of with normal household waste at the end of its service life.
Instead, it must be handed into a special collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic
appliances. The symbol on the item, instructions and packaging alerts you to this. The materials
that have been used are suitable for recycling. You will be making an important contribution to the
protection of our environment by recycling used appliances or materials. Find out from your local
authority where the designated collection point is.
PACKAGING
The packaging materials for this product are 100% recyclable.
WARRANTY CONDITIONS
The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper use or a failure to observe safety regulations. In such instances, any warranty claim shall
be voided.
•Always retain your proof of purchase, without this no claim can be made on any form of
warranty.
•In the event of damage caused as a result of a failure to observe the instructions, any
warranty rights are voided.

•The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper use or a failure to observe safety regulations. In such instances, any warranty
claim shall be voided.
•Other than cleaning, as set out in these instructions, no maintenance to this appliance is
necessary.
•If problems, which are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, should occur within 1 (one)
year of the date of purchase, the appliance may be presented at the point of sale in
exchange for a replacement of the same product.
•Register any queries or complaints at the point of sale.
•This appliance has a 12-month warranty effective from the date of purchase as shown on
the sales receipt.
•Only defects in materials and / or workmanship will qualify in respect of this warranty.
•If you wish to make a warranty claim, please ensure that you hand in the appliance in its
entirety and in its original box together with proof of purchase at the point of sale.
•Damage to accessories or parts does not automatically infer that the entire appliance be
replaced. Broken glass / plastic parts or accessories are not covered by the warranty.
•Faults to accessories or to parts subject to wear, including cleaning and maintenance are not
covered by the warranty.
•The warranty is voided in cases of unauthorised handling.
•The retailer shall not be responsible for damages resulting from fire, flood, civil disturbances
or any acts of God.
•The retailer shall not in terms of those warranties be responsible, nor held liable for any
consequential loss or damages of any kind caused by or due to the failure or malfunction of
the appliance.
Note: This appliance is intended for household use only. Industrial or commercial use will void
the warranty, and the supplier cannot be held responsible for injury or damage caused when using
the appliance for any other purpose than that intended.
