This manual contains all the informaon necessary to install, use and maintain the Whisper Power
Lithium baeries. We kindly ask you to read this manual carefully before using the product. In this
manual, the Lithium Power Plus 12 V 210 Ah or 12 V 340 Ah will be referred to as: the Lithium
baery.
This manual is meant for the installer and the user of the Lithium baery. Only qualied, cered
personnel may install and perform maintenance on the Lithium baery. Please consult the index at
the start of this manual to locate informaon relevant to you.
The boundaries of its use, as described in this manual should always be upheld. The Lithium bat-
tery may not be used in medical or in aviaon related applicaons. The Lithium baery may not be
used for any purposes other than described in this manual. Using the Lithium baery for any other
purpose will be considered improper use and will void the warranty of the product. WhisperPower
cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by improper, incorrect or unwise use of the
product. Read and understand this manual completely before using the product.
During the use of the product, user safety should always be ensured, so installers, users, service
personnel and third pares can safely use the Lithium baery. This is the original manual, keep it in

1. Introduction
1.1. Product description
The Lithium Power Plus Baery is a Lithium Iron Phosphate rechargeable baery. The
unique combinaon of state-of-the art technology and smart soware makes this Lithium
baery a robust, safe and easy to use energy storage soluon.
The Lithium baery uses exceponally safe Lithium Iron phosphate (LiFePO4) technology.
With its integrated baery management system the Lithium baery is protected from deep
discharging, overcharging and overheang.
Cauon!External disconnect device is required!
1.2. Intended use
The Lithium Power Plus Baery serves as a energy source of 12V in power systems for
recreaonal vehicles, commercial vehicles, leisure boats, commercial vessels and staonary
applicaons. Potenal applicaons of this Lithium baery include: o grid power supply,
marine power supply, medium for (renewable) energy storage and (tracon) baery for ve-
hicles. Use as a starter baery is not possible. Up to 4 baeries can be connected in series
or in parallel to increase the total capacity up to 840/1360 Ah. For more baeries in series
or parallel always consult with WhisperPower.
1.3. Glossary of Terminology
BMS Baery Managent System
Charge cycle A period of use from fully charged, to fully discharged, and fully recharged
again.
Endurance Life-cycle The products maximum lifespan, achieved by following the guidelines
presented in this manual.

2.4. Environmental conditions
Warning! The Lithium baery may only be used in condions specied in this manual.
Exposing the Lithium baery to condions outside the specied boundaries may lead to
serious damage to the product and/or the user.
Use the Lithium baery in a dry, clean, dust free, well venlated space. Do not expose the
Lithium baery to re or water or solvents.
When the Lithium baery is placed in an enclosed environment without air circulaon, it is
advised to provide 2 venlaon holes of 100mm x 100mm each. This helps to prevent the
heat built-up.

2.8. Peripheral equipment
2.8.1. Obligatory
In order for the Lithium baery to be used safely, an external disconnect device must be
installed. This should either be a relay or latching relay (bi-stable) controlled by the bat-
tery’s BMS or a relay or latching relay controlled by a remote switch (CAN controlled). If an
external switch o device is not installed the warranty of the Lithium baery will be void.

3. Safety guidelines and measures
3.1. General
• Do not short-circuit the Lithium baery.
• Treat the Lithium baery as described in this manual.
• Do not dismantle, crush, puncture, open or shred the Lithium baery.
• Do not expose Lithium baery to heat or re. Avoid exporusre to direct sunlight.
• Do not remove the Lithium baery from its original packaging unl required for use.
• In the event of the Lithium baery leaking, do not allow the liquid to come in
contact with the skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the aected area with
copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.
• Do not use any charger other than that specically provided for use with the Lithium
baery.
• Observe the plus (+) and minus (–) marks on the Lithium baery and equipment and
ensure correct use.
• Do not use any baery which is not designed for use with the Lithium baery.
• Do not mix baeries of dierent manufacture, capacity, size or type within a device.
• Keep the Lithium baery clean and dry.
• Secondary baeries need to be charged before use. Always use the correct charger
and refer this manual for proper charging instrucons.
• Do not leave the Lithium baery on prolonged charge when not in use.
• Aer extended periods of storage, it may be necessary to charge and discharge the
Lithium baery several mes to obtain maximum performance.
• Retain the original product documentaon for future reference.
• Remove the Lithium baery from the equipment when not in use.
• Do not charge the Lithium baery below 0oC
Warning!Keep the Lithium baery away from water, dust and contaminaon.
Place the Lithium baery in well venlated areas.
3.2. Disposal
Dispose of the Lithium baery in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regula-
ons.
Baeries may be returned to the manufacturer.
Do not mix with other (industrial) waste.

4. Installation
4.1. General information
Warning! Never install or use a damaged Lithium baery.
Cauon! Do not reverse connect the Lithium baery (polarity)
When connecng several baeries in series or parallel, always use baeries of the same
brand, type, age, capacity and state of charge.
4.2. Unpacking
Check the Lithium baery for damage aer unpacking. If the Lithium baery is damaged,
contact your reseller or Whisper Power. Do not install or use the Lithium baery if it is
damaged!
4.3. Preparing the battery for use
Cauon!Do not operate the Lithium baery beyond published maximum specicaons.
Cauon!In case of an under-voltage shutdown, charge immediately.
Warning! Always remain within the limits indicated in chapter 2 during the use of the
Lithium baery.
Cauon!This Lithium baery stores fault condions internally, like excessive charge
current or deep discharge situaons. Whisper Power uses this informaon in the warranty
process
Warning! Do not overcharge the Lithium baery.
4.3.1. Placement of the battery
Before it is used, the Lithium baery must be posioned in such a way that it will not move
around in its compartment during use. If necessary, the Lithium baery may be xed in
place by means of Whisper Power mounng brackets. The brackets can be screwed in
place by means of bolts or screws (See Figure 4).

4.3.2. Placement and removal of a fuse
Before the Lithium baery can be used, the internal fuse needs to be installed into it. The
32V/500A fuse is supplied with the Lithium baery. Other fuses may only be used in the
product when they are approved by Whisper Power for this applicaon.
Use the following steps to (re)place the fuse in the Lithium baery (Figure 5):
1. Disconnect the negave wire from the - pole of the Lithium baery (see paragraph
4.5.5. for the details).
2. Disconnect the posive wire from the + pole of the Lithium baery.
3. Unscrew the fuse cover using the fuse TORX key.
4. Unscrew the fuse contacts using a 13mm wrench.
Warning! Short circuit danger. Avoid making a short circuit with the wrench.
5. Place the (new) fuse between the contacts, place washers and spring washers and
ghten the fuse contact points to 13Nm.
6. Fasten the fuse cover.
7. Proceed to the next paragraph to read the instrucons on installing the Lithium bat-
tery in an electrical circuit.

4.4. Connection wires
Use appropriate wire for the connecon wires to ensure no overheang or unnecessary
losses occur. Use appropriate fuses matching the wires and load.
WhisperPower recommends to use at least 95 mm2 conductors for short lengths and higher rang
for longer distances.
Cauon! Smaller diameter wires can cause overheang or necessary losses and shall be
avoided.
4.5. Installing the mandatory Battery Disconnect device
Warning! Always connect the relay between the + or - terminal of the baery and
the load.
Warning! Never use the Lithium baery without a properly installed Baery Disconnect
device (relay or latching relay).
An external Baery Disconnect device must be installed between the + or - terminal of the
Lithium baery and the load. The protecon of the Lithium baery is possible by one of
the following ways:
1. Connect a bi-stable relay to the Lithium baery’s Con1 output.
2. Connect a normal relay to the Lithium baery’s Con2 (I/O connecon 7) output.
3. By using the WP WIB (Baery Interface Box).
4. By using the WP BCI-C1 (Baery Communicaon Interface) and a normal relay.
4.5.1. Connecting a bi-stable relay to the Lithium battery
1. When using a bi-stable relay connect it to Con1 output as displayed in Figure 6. The Con1
output controls both the ON coil and the OFF coil of the bi-stable relay. The output of Con1
can be found in Table 9.

1. When using a normal relay, connect it to Con 2 (I/O Connecon 7), Pin 4 (Rc) and Pin 5
(Rnc) as displayed in Figure 7.
