1.1. Product description
The Lithium Power Plus Baery is a Lithium Iron Phosphate rechargeable baery. The
unique combinaon of state-of-the art technology and smart soware makes this Lithium
baery a robust, safe and easy to use energy storage soluon.
The Lithium baery uses exceponally safe Lithium Iron phosphate (LiFePO4) technology.
With its integrated baery management system the Lithium baery is protected from deep
discharging, overcharging and overheang.
Cauon!External disconnect device is required!
1.2. Intended use
The Lithium Power Plus Baery serves as a energy source of 12V in power systems for
recreaonal vehicles, commercial vehicles, leisure boats, commercial vessels and staonary
applicaons. Potenal applicaons of this Lithium baery include: o grid power supply,
marine power supply, medium for (renewable) energy storage and (tracon) baery for ve-
hicles. Use as a starter baery is not possible. Up to 4 baeries can be connected in series
or in parallel to increase the total capacity up to 840/1360 Ah. For more baeries in series
or parallel always consult with WhisperPower.

3. Safety guidelines and measures
3.1. General
• Do not short-circuit the Lithium baery.
• Treat the Lithium baery as described in this manual.
• Do not dismantle, crush, puncture, open or shred the Lithium baery.
• Do not expose Lithium baery to heat or re. Avoid exporusre to direct sunlight.
• Do not remove the Lithium baery from its original packaging unl required for use.
• In the event of the Lithium baery leaking, do not allow the liquid to come in
contact with the skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the aected area with
copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.
• Do not use any charger other than that specically provided for use with the Lithium
baery.
• Observe the plus (+) and minus (–) marks on the Lithium baery and equipment and
ensure correct use.
• Do not use any baery which is not designed for use with the Lithium baery.
• Do not mix baeries of dierent manufacture, capacity, size or type within a device.
• Keep the Lithium baery clean and dry.
• Secondary baeries need to be charged before use. Always use the correct charger
and refer this manual for proper charging instrucons.
• Do not leave the Lithium baery on prolonged charge when not in use.
• Aer extended periods of storage, it may be necessary to charge and discharge the
Lithium baery several mes to obtain maximum performance.
• Retain the original product documentaon for future reference.
• Remove the Lithium baery from the equipment when not in use.
• Do not charge the Lithium baery below 0oC
Warning!Keep the Lithium baery away from water, dust and contaminaon.
Place the Lithium baery in well venlated areas.
3.2. Disposal
Dispose of the Lithium baery in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regula-
ons.
Baeries may be returned to the manufacturer.
Do not mix with other (industrial) waste.

16 WhisperPower Lithium Plus 12 V 210 Ah 340 Ah
4. Installation
4.1. General information
Warning! Never install or use a damaged Lithium baery.
Cauon! Do not reverse connect the Lithium baery (polarity)
When connecng several baeries in series or parallel, always use baeries of the same
brand, type, age, capacity and state of charge.
4.2. Unpacking
Check the Lithium baery for damage aer unpacking. If the Lithium baery is damaged,
contact your reseller or Whisper Power. Do not install or use the Lithium baery if it is
damaged!
4.3. Preparing the battery for use
Cauon!Do not operate the Lithium baery beyond published maximum specicaons.
Cauon! In case of an under-voltage shutdown, charge immediately.
Warning! Always remain within the limits indicated in chapter 2 during the use of the
Lithium baery.
Cauon! This Lithium baery stores fault condions internally, like excessive charge
current or deep discharge situaons. Whisper Power uses this informaon in the warranty
process
Warning! Do not overcharge the Lithium baery.
4.3.1. Placement of the battery
Before it is used, the Lithium baery must be posioned in such a way that it will not move
around in its compartment during use. If necessary, the Lithium baery may be xed in
place by means of Whisper Power mounng brackets. The brackets can be screwed in
place by means of bolts or screws (See Figure 4).

WhisperPower Lithium Plus 12 V 210 Ah 340 Ah 17
Figure4.InstallingtheLithiumbaeryusingtheWhisperPowermounngbrackets
4.3.2. Placement and removal of a fuse
Before the Lithium baery can be used, the internal fuse needs to be installed into it. The
32V/500A fuse is supplied with the Lithium baery. Other fuses may only be used in the
product when they are approved by Whisper Power for this applicaon.
Use the following steps to (re)place the fuse in the Lithium baery (Figure 5):
1. Disconnect the negave wire from the - pole of the Lithium baery (see paragraph
4.5.5. for the details).
2. Disconnect the posive wire from the + pole of the Lithium baery.
3. Unscrew the fuse cover using the fuse TORX key.
4. Unscrew the fuse contacts using a 13mm wrench.
Warning! Short circuit danger. Avoid making a short circuit with the wrench.
5. Place the (new) fuse between the contacts, place washers and spring washers and
ghten the fuse contact points to 13Nm.
6. Fasten the fuse cover.
7. Proceed to the next paragraph to read the instrucons on installing the Lithium bat-
tery in an electrical circuit.

18 WhisperPower Lithium Plus 12 V 210 Ah 340 Ah
Figure5.Installafuse
4.4. Connection wires
Use appropriate wire for the connecon wires to ensure no overheang or unnecessary
losses occur. Use appropriate fuses matching the wires and load.
WhisperPower recommends to use at least 95 mm2 conductors for short lengths and higher rang
for longer distances.
Cauon! Smaller diameter wires can cause overheang or necessary losses and shall be
avoided.
4.5. Installing the mandatory Battery Disconnect device
Warning! Always connect the relay between the + or - terminal of the baery and
the load.
Warning! Never use the Lithium baery without a properly installed Baery Disconnect
device (relay or latching relay).
An external Baery Disconnect device must be installed between the + or - terminal of the
Lithium baery and the load. The protecon of the Lithium baery is possible by one of
the following ways:
1. Connect a bi-stable relay to the Lithium baery’s Con1 output.
2. Connect a normal relay to the Lithium baery’s Con2 (I/O connecon 7) output.
3. By using the WP WIB (Baery Interface Box).
4. By using the WP BCI-C1 (Baery Communicaon Interface) and a normal relay.
4.5.1. Connecting a bi-stable relay to the Lithium battery
1. When using a bi-stable relay connect it to Con1 output as displayed in Figure 6. The Con1
output controls both the ON coil and the OFF coil of the bi-stable relay. The output of Con1
can be found in Table 9.
