2.0 Ventilation
Passive ventilation:
‘Trickle’ or ‘rotating’ vents provide background
ventilation. Trickle vents are adjusted by hand,
and rotating vents are adjusted by a proprietary
operating rod – available in 1.5, 2 or 3m lengths.
We advise checking every six months that nothing is
blocking the vents and gently dislodging anything
that may be obstructing airflow.
Opening ventilation:
Operated manually by spindle and proprietary
winding rod, or electrically by means of 24V or
240V electric box motors. Manual operation opens
to 300mm. Electric motors must be installed by a
qualified electrician. Test annually by an approved
electrical installations testing company. Physically
check fixing brackets to ensure fixings are secure.
3.0 Extract Fans
These are factory fitted to the relevant rooflight
component and connected to an unswitched
fused-spur. A switched electrical supply should be
connected by a qualified electrician. Test annually
by an Approved Electrical Installations Testing
Company.
4.0 Sealant Repairs
Should gasket repairs be required, we suggest you
contact Whitesales for recommendations.

1.0 Care & Cleaning
Polycarbonate multiwall glazing:
The polycarbonate multiwall material is certified
non-fragile but should not be walked upon. It is
sensitive to detergents, solvents and abrasives.
They irrevocably damage the dome and make
the product guaranteed to expire. Do not use any
paint, insecticides or other aggressive products
near the dome. If you detect shortcomings on the
polycarbonate, make sure you immediately inform
your installer.
Physically check the em.vault system to ensure all
fixings are secure.
No cleaning should take place until a full risk
assessment has been carried out by a competent
person and the appropriate safety measures
implemented to ensure the risk of any person
falling through the rooflight is removed.
It is the responsibility of the building owner to
ensure inclusion of this document in the Health
and Safety file for the building.
Aluminium frame:
Regularly clean the frame with non-abrasive and
neutral cleaning products to retain the smooth
inner aspect.
em.curb (upstand):
The curb is manufactured in extruded shock-
resistant uPVC, or GRP, which does not need any
additional finish. em.curbs provide a proprietary
upstand detail for the em.vault. The curbs are
equipped with a self-adhesive protection film on
the inside, which must be removed at first use.
When cleaning the curb, only use non-abrasive and
neutral cleaning products,.
