Wileyfox Swift User manual

Inserting your SIM & memory cards
The first thing you need to do is insert the SIM card and, if you’re using one, a memory card.
The Wileyfox Swift uses a MicroSIM card and accepts a MicroSD memory card.
1.
Remove the back cover by prising it away from the phone - you can fit your thumbnail into the
space between the cover and USB port and just pull it back.
2.
Take the battery out if it’s in place.
3.
Slide the SIM into the left-hand slot (cut-corner first, with the gold contacts facing down).
4.
If you’re adding a microSD card, slide it in narrow-end first, with the gold contacts facing down.
5.
Replace the back cover by pressing it down around the edges until it clicks.

The second SIM card slot is used if you have a separate SIM for mobile data, or need to be able
to receive calls and texts from a second number.
3. Completing the Wileyfox Setup Wizard
The first time you turn the phone on you need to complete the ‘Setup Wizard’, which takes you
through the things you need to do to get the phone working the way you want.
At any time during the setup, you might see a ‘SIM service’ message that asks you to select your
mobile network. If it does, just select the correct network name. If not, don’t worry, the phone
will have sorted it out itself.

1.
Hold the Power button until you feel a vibration and the phone turns on.
2.
Choose your language and tap Next.
3.
Select your Wi-Fi network from the list, or tap Skip. We recommend connecting to Wi-Fi when
setting up your phone, because if you don’t, all of the large updates that’re installed will be
downloaded using your mobile data.
4.
Enter the password. This can be found on a sticker on your router.

5.
The word ‘Connected’ will appear under the network name. Tap Next to continue.
6.
Turn on mobile data by tapping the switch. This allows you to get online when you’re away from
home.
7.
If you have a Google account, enter your account details and tap Next. If you don't, create one by
tapping Create a new account. You can use the phone without one, but you won’t be able to
download apps, so it’s worth doing.

8.
Read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy if you want to, then tap Accept.

9.

You can add different payment options to your account to pay for apps, music, and videos. If
you’d rather not, you can add your payment details each time you buy something. Either choose
your payment method, or select Remind you later followed by Next.
10.
Sign in or create a 'Cyanogen account'. This allows you to download new themes, and find the
phone if it goes missing. You can also use TrueCaller, which displays the identity of blocked
numbers and stops them from calling again.
11.
Choose any other options you want from the list and tap Next.
That's the Setup Wizard finished. When it finishes loading, you’ll be taken to the Home screen.
Touchscreen buttons
Home (circle): returns you to the Home screen from any screen or app.
Back (triangle): takes you back one screen.
Menu (square): displays all the open apps.
4. Connecting to the Internet
To use apps, social media, and download films and music, the Swift needs to connect to the
internet. During the setup, we showed you how to connect to your home Wi-Fi.
The steps below show you how to connect to other Wi-Fi networks (and your home network if
you didn’t do it earlier).
Connecting the Swift to a Wi-Fi network

1.
Swipe down from the top of the screen, then tap the Settings icon (it’s in the top right of the
screen and looks like a cog).
2.
Tap the Networks tab at the top of the screen.
3.
Check that the Wi-Fi switch is blue. If it's grey, tap the switch to turn it on.
4.

Tap Wi-Fi.
5.
Select the name of the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
6.
Type the wireless Password followed by Connect.
7.
The network name will turn blue and ‘Connected’ will show underneath.
When no Wi-Fi network is available, your phone should automatically connect to the internet
using your mobile data.
If you’re having problems connecting your phone to mobile internet, our APN Guides will help
you manually set it up.
5. Setting up new email accounts
You can send and receive emails from most providers on the Swift. These steps take you through
adding a new email account to the phone.

1.
Swipe down from the top of the screen and open the Settings menu.
2.
Scroll down and select Accounts.
3.
Below the list of active email accounts, tap Add account.
4.
If you’re setting up a work or education email account, select Microsoft Exchange. For personal
accounts, select IMAP (the ‘Pop’ option is for older accounts. If you set your email account up
over ten years ago, you might need to use this. Try ‘IMAP’ first though).

5.
Enter your email address, press Next, then enter your password and press Next.
6.
Choose how often the phone checks for email. Checking more frequently uses more battery and
mobile data - every hour is a good compromise.
7.
Choose a name for your account, then type your name (it'll be shown on emails sent from your
phone). Press Done.

Your phone can now send and receive emails from your added account. If it didn’t work, you
might need to add the email server settings manually. For more information, check our guide to
email server settings.
6. Setting up a lock screen
We always recommend keeping your phone safe with a lock screen. If you didn’t do it when you
set up the phone, these steps show you how.

1.
From the Home screen, tap on the Apps icon.
2.
Open the Settings menu.
3.
Tap the Display tab at the top followed by Lock screen.
4.
Press Select screen lock.
