Before using the camera for the first time, please
read the ‘Important Notes’.
Important notes:
1. If the seal labels on the box are torn, missing, or damaged before you
2. Before using the camera, please perform the Setup Camera as described

- 3 -wiwacam.com/support
in Chapter 2 of this manual.
3. WiFi performance of each camera has been tested before delivery. However,
the WiFi antenna may get impacted during shipping. If you have any weak
WiFi performance problem on the camera you receive, please contact us for
a replacement.
4. The MW8 camera uses external surfaces for heat dissipation. You may
notice that the camera surface is warm during camera operation, this is
normal.
5. The MW8 camera has equipped a Camera Lens Cover in front of the
camera lens to conceal the camera. We have used WIWACAM Ultra Hidden
Glass for this purpose. However, this can still have a slight impact on the
image quality, which is considered normal. All the similar models available
in the market experience a similar impact.
6. Please be aware that the Camera Lens Cover glass is fragile and can
easily break if it falls to the ground.
7. To achieve better image quality and better night vision, please place the
MW8 camera closer to the edge of the table. If it is positioned too far away
from the table edge, a significant portion of the image may be occupied by
the table itself. We recommend keeping a distance of LESS than 6 inches
from the camera to the table edge for optimal results.
8. In night vision mode, be careful not to have objects too close to the lens.
Objects closed to lens will block the infrared rays or reflect the infrared
rays to the lens. The blocking or reflection will severely degrade night vision
image quality.
9. The MW8 prevents rapid switching back and forth between day mode
and night mode. If the camera switches modes several times within 1
minute, it will stay in night mode for 30 minutes. Afterward, it resumes
attempting to detect the lighting conditions automatically. If you see the
camera still in night mode when the room is well-lit, simply wait a few
minutes for it to switch back to auto light detection mode.

password. You need to setup the camera again as Chapter 2.4.
6. How to Ensure Good Quality Night Vision
The camera is set to Auto Night Vision by default, so there's no need to adjust
any settings. Here's how it works:
⚫When it's dark around the camera, it automatically switches to night mode.
In this mode, the camera uses infrared light and shows a black and white
image. This is the standard for home security cameras and similar devices.
⚫When the surroundings are bright enough, the camera switches to normal
or "day mode." It displays the image captured by natural light and stops
emitting infrared light.
⚫If you see the camera staying in night mode (black and white) even in a
well-lit room, simply wait a few minutes. The MW8 camera detects and
prevents rapid switching between day mode and night mode. If the
camera switches modes frequently within one minute, it will stay in night

- 17 -wiwacam.com/support
mode for 30 minutes. After that, the camera resumes to automatically
detect the lighting conditions again.
To ensure good night vision, please keep the following points in mind:
1) Avoid IR reflections or blocking
Avoid objects or surfaces too close to the camera lens that can block or reflect
infrared (IR) rays. Blocked or reflected IR can greatly affect the quality of
the night vision image. Here are a few examples:
Example 1: The table reflects the IR rays, the video will become blurry,
making it difficult to see any details.
We suggest keeping the camera lens within 1 inch of the edge of the table.
Example 2: A chair blocks part of the night vision, the camera's range
will be limited to around 3ft/1m instead of the intended 20ft/6m.

- 18 -wiwacam.com/support
Here is the night vision image after correcting the two errors above
2) Ensure the camera lens is not placed behind window glass
If you need to monitor the outside through a window, note that IR light cannot
pass through the glass. Instead, the glass will cause strong reflections and
send the IR light back to the camera lens. This results in an overexposed
image, obscuring the outdoor area.

- 19 -wiwacam.com/support
