Recommended Measures for Optimum Picture Excellence
This unit is a precision device that is constructed using ex-
tremely accurate technology.
Soiling or friction affecting the pickup lens or disc drive can
impair the image quality. At the worst, neither video nor audio
will be played back. To obtain optimum picture quality, the
player should be checked (cleaning and replacement of some
parts) every 1,000 hours. Note that this period varies depend-
ing on the environment (temperature, humidity, dust, ect.) in
which the player is used.
Do not attempt to clean the pickup lens yourself.
Power Cord Protection
To avoid any malfunctions of the unit, and to protect against
electric shock, fire or personal injury, please observe the fol-
lowing:
•Hold the plug firmly when connecting or disconnecting
the AC power cord.
•KeeptheACpower cordaway fromthe heatingappliances.
•Never put any heavy object on theAC power cord.
•Do not attempt to repair or reconstruct the AC power cord
in any way.
Location and Handing
•Air vents are provided in the cabinet to prevent excessive
tempratures inside the unit. Do not place this unit in closed
spaces, cover it, or otherwise block the vents.

Nonuse Periods
•When the unit is not being used, turn the unit off.

Stacking
•Place the unit in a horizontal position, and do not place
anything heavy on it.
Condensation
Moisture may form on the pickup lens in the following
conditions:
•Immediately after a heater has been turned on.
•In a steamy or very humid room.
•When the unit is suddenly moved from a cold environ-
ment to a warm one.
If moisture forms inside this unit, it may not operate properly.
In this case, turn on the power and wait about one hour for the
moisture to evaporate.
Service
•Do not attempt to service the unit yourself.
•Please refer any service to the nearest service centre.
Copy protection
This DVD player supports Macrovision copy protection.
On DVD discs that include a copy protection code, if the
contents of the DVD disc are copied using a VCR, the
copy protection code will be activated and forbidden the
copy processes.

Notes on disc
Disc handling precautions
•To keep the disc clean, handle the disc by its edge. Do not
touch the surface.
•Do not stick paper or tape on the disc.
If there is glue (or a similar substance) on the disc, remove
the glue completely before using the disc.
•Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources such
as hot air ducts, or leave it in a car parked in direct sunlight
as there can be considerable rise in temperature inside
the car.
•After playing, store the disc in its case.
•Do not write on the label side with a ball-point pen or other
writing utensils.
•Be careful not to drop or bend the disc.
Disc cleaning precautions
•Before playing, clean the disc with a cleaning cloth. Wipe
the disc from the center to out.
•Donot use solvents such asbenzine, thinner, commerically
avaiable cleaners or anti-static spray intended for viny1
LPs.
Disc installing precautions
•Do not install more than 1 disc on disc tray.
•Do not place the disc on the tray up-side down.
•Do not try to close the disc tray when the disc is not in-
stalled properly.

Inserting Batteries into the Remote Control
You can control the system using the supplied remote. Insert
two AAA batteries by matching the + and - polarities on the
batteries as shown. When using the remote, point it at the
remote sensor on the front panel of this system.
Note
•Do not leave the remote in an extermely hot or humid
place.
•Do not use a new battery with an old one.
•Do not drop any foreign object into the remote casing.
particularly when replacing the batteries.
•Do not expose the remote sensor to direct sunlight or
lighting apparatuses. Doing so many cause a malfunc-
tion.
•If you will not use the remote for an extended period of
time, remove the batteries to avoid possible damage from
battery leakage and corrosion.

1. SETUP: To enter or exit the SETUP menu.
2. DISPLAY: To show the elapsed playing time,the track nu-
mber and othe menu items.
3. TITLE/PBC: Display the title menu if present on the disc
(DVD only) & Switch the PBC functions to on or off.
4. NUMERIC KEYS(0~9): Select the items or settings.
5. LANGUAGE: Select a differentAudio or director narration.

7. 8/::In disc mode, press to skip to next chapter or track

Connections
You must connect a TV to the DVD system in order to use the DVD player. You can connect other audio and audio/ visual
components to the DVD system to enjoy your new YAHOO player’s super audio capabilities.
Important!
•Thereare variousways to connect the system to a TV (as shown in the illustration). You only need to make one of these
connections.
•Always refer to the instruction manual of the connected equipment to make an optimized connection.
1. Use the supplied audio cables to connect AUDIO OUT jacks to the corresponding AUDIO IN jacks on the TV or other audio/
visual components.
2. Select one of the following options to connect the video to your TV:
Option 1
Connect the S-VIDEO OUT jack to the S-Video input jack on the TV using a S-Video cable (not supplied).
Option 2
Connect the VIDEO OUT jack to the video input jack on the TV using a video cable (supplied).
Use the component Pr/Pb/Y jacks: You can enable the progressive scan function through the main menu only if the
following requirements are fulfilled:
•Your TV supports progressive scan function.
•Component video output is used.
Use the AUDIO OUT jacks
•For connecting to an amplifier, audio system or TV with analog audio inputs.
•For connecting to a audio recording device, such as a tape recorder to make analog recording.
Use the COAXIAL jacks
•For connecting to an amplifier or other device equipped with coaxial input jack.

In the top menu select the setup menu option to make
desired setup options.
In setup menu ,select Setup Menu option to make desired
setup options. For purposes of this manual, the setup
options are described from top to bottom order,beginning

one menu can affect how other settings. If you see a sele-
ction that is greyed out, that means the selection interacts

This function allows to set playback limitation level. Some
DVDs may have a parental level assigned to the complete
disc or to certain scenes on the disc.

4Press MUTE to shut off the sound. To restore the volume,

previous track/chapter.

This function can play a specific section in a chapter/track
repeatedly.
1Press A - B at the starting portion you want.
2PressA - B again at the end portion you want. The specific
section will now repeat continuously.
3Press A - B the third time to normal playback.

1. The Aand B can be set onlywithin the same chapter/track.
2. After performing repeat play, be sure to press the STOP
button. Otherwise, the disc will play continuously.

•Your player will not play discs that have a region code
different from the region code of your player.
•If the inhibit“INVALID KEY”appears on the screen when a
button is pressed, it means the function is not available
for the disc you are playing.
General operation
CAUTION!
•Do not move the disc player during playback. Doing so
may damage the DVD system.
•Do not push on the disc tray or put any objects other
than disc on the disc tray. Doing so may cause the disc
player to malfunction.

Using the menu for each DVD
The title menu
1Press the TITLE/PBC while playing a DVD disc.
The TITLE MENU will be shown on TV screen for a mo-
ment, and then the title menu appears. The contents of
the menu vary from disc to disc.
2Use the 3456 buttons to select the title (or chapter)
you want to play.
Depending on the disc, you can use the number buttons
(0~9 ) to select the title (or chapter).
3Press OK to start playback.
Note
•Depending on the DVD disc, you may not be able to select
the title or chapter.
•Depending on the DVD disc, a Title menu may simply be
called a menu or root menu in the instructions supplied
with the disc.
•For some DVD disc, when you press the TITLE/PBC, the
playback will restart from the beginning of the disc.
Using the root menu
1Press the MENU/RETURN while playing a DVD disc.
The MENU PLAYwill be shown on TV screen for a mo-
ment, and then the root menu appears. The contents of
the menu vary from disc to disc.
2Use the 3456 buttons to select the title (or chapter)
you want to play.
Depending on the disc, you can use the number buttons
(0~9 ) to select the title (or chapter).
3Press the OK to playback.

Slow motion play
GOTO ( Title, Chapter, Track or Time search )
This function allows you to start playing at any title, chapter,
track or time on the disc.
•For DVD discs
1. PressGOTO.
2. Press 3/4to select TITLE or CHAPTER search or press
GOTO again to enter time search.
eg : TT 01 / 28 CH 15 / 35 C -- : -- : --
3. Use numeric key (0~9) to input the specific title, chapter or
elapsed playing time at which you want to begin play-
back.
4. Press OK.
•For CD discs
1. PressGOTO.
2. Use numeric key (0~9) to input the specific elapsed play-
ing time at which you want to begin playback.
eg : TRK 1/16 T --:--:--

Display status during playback
1 If you want to know the information of the disc press the
DISPLAY button repeatedly to display the following
information.
DVD CD / MP3
It shows the chapter / track information of the disc being playing.
2For DVD disc, Press DISPLAY 6 times to turn off the
onscreen display.
Playback Functions
When playing MP3 / Picture discs (Kodak, JPEG)
2To select a desired title, press 5/6buttons and followed
by OK or 4; to start playback.
3You can also use the number buttons (0~9) to enter your
selection. Enter the number you want and press the OK
button to confirm.
4To stop playback, press the button.
Changing sound track language
This operation works only with DVDs recorded in multiple
sound track languages.
When playing DVD discs:
Press the LANGUAGE button to select one of the language.
Note
If you press the language select button for several times, but
the desired language is not selected, it means the language
is not available on the disc. •For Kodak Picture Disc
1Load a Kodak Picture disc, playback will start automati-
cally. Each picture in the current directory will be displayed
consecutively in a slideshow presentation.
2Press the button, 9 thumbnail pictures will appear on
theTV.
3Press 4; to start playback.
1During ZOOM ON, use the 3456 buttons to moved the
zoomed picture left, right, up or down.
•During playback, you can:
•For MP3 / Picture (JPEG) disc
1Load a MP3/ Picture (JPEG) disc, the album/ picture menu
will appear on the TV screen. Then use the 5/6buttons to
select the desired album, press4; button, playback will
start.
Notes:
Depending on some disc, the title number or chapter
number or time may not appear or you may not be able to
change the display.

Selecting audio language
Depending on some DVD discs, you may be able to change
theaudio format (including audio coding type, numberofchan-
nels recorded and audio language) using LANGUAGE but-
ton.

Program play
You can play the contents of the disc in the order you want by
programming the order of the tracks to be played. UP to 99
tracks can be stored.
1While playback is stopped, select or press PROGRAM to
enter program mode.
2Use the number buttons (0 ~ 9) to input the track number
in the order you want.
3Repeat step 2 to store other tracks.
4To start program play, press PLAY/PAUSE 4/;.
5To stop playback, press once.
6To cancel the program, press again.

Activating /Deactivating
Progressive Scan mode
The Progressive -scan display presents 60 complete frames
per second , rather than 30 frams per second of interlaced
scanning (ordinary normal TV system ). With nearly double
the numbers line, progressive scan offers higher picture
resolution and eliminates bothersome motion artifacta those
jagged edges on moving objects.
To enjoy the full quality potential offered by progressive
scan feature, a progressive scan TV is required.
Select NTSC or PAL on the SETUP menu to transfer progre-
ssive scan mode.
Noted:
1.The progressive scan video quality is only possible through
Pr/Pb/Y video output connection.
2.This units with both 525p and 625p progressive scan out-
puts.

Angle selection
Some DVD discs contain scenes which have been shot si-
multaneously from a number of different angles. For these
discs, the same scenes can viewed from each of the different
angles.
1Press the ANGLE button to change the scenes from one
angle to other angle(s).
For example: 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4.
Picture Zooming
Thisfunction allows youto enlarge thepicture on theTV screen
and to pan through the enlarged image.
1Press ZOOM repeatedly to select a zoom factor as below:

Selecting subtilte language
This function can only be used for DVD disc recorded with
multi-subtitle language.
1Press SUBTITLE repeatedly to select a desired language.
2If the subtitle language is not necessary, press SUBTIT-
LE to select “SUBTITLE OFF ”.
Notes :
•In some cases, the subtitle language is not changed to
the selected one.
•When a disc supporting closed caption is played, the
subtitle and the closed caption may overlap each other
on the TV screen . In this case, turn the subtitle off.
•When the desired language is not selected even if the
button is pressed, the language is not available on the
disc.
•When the power is turned on or the disc is replaced ,
select the subtitle language again.

USB Jack and Card Reader
This product has USB jack and 4 in 1 Card Reader.
It can supports almost all kinds of the USB device
for data transfer (except USB+HUB).
It also can supports SD card, MMC card, MS card,
SM card.
1 Pls insert your USB or Card into the relative USB / card
reader jack, the menu will appear on the TV screen.
Insert your Flash Memory Card into the memory card slot
on your computer, cell phone, digital camera or PDA. You
can use the device as you normally would, creating, copy-
ing, editing and moving files. Your Memory Card can also
be erased and reused.
2 If you place the Disc/ USB/ Card into the main unit at the
same time, the default display is the Disc, but you can sele-
ct which source you are prefer to display from the SETUP
MENU.

USB jack
How to insert a Memory Card
Insert the Memory Card correctly with the label facing up,
otherwise it may not work.
Notes
•If it is not fully inserted, the “Memory Card”will not work.
If you remove the “M emory Card”during Memory Card
operation, the recorded data may become corrupted.
•It is better to remove it after select another souring from
SETUP menu.
•The card is designed to fit easily into the system one
way only. Do not bend the card or force it into the slot.
•Avoid touching the contact area of card to prevent cont-
amination and electrostatic discharge.
How to insert a USB
Pls insert the USB Flash Disk into the main unit jack correc-
tly.
Notes
•The maximum power output for the USB jack is 500mA,
external power source is required when the power consu-
mption for USB device is higher than 500mA.
Card reader
•USB Flash Disk, a mobile storage device, You can exch-
ange and store any data beteween computers, USB Flash
Disk uses Flash Memory as storage media and connecting
to computer through USB interface.

VU meter and BIT RATE meter
There has two meters on the front panel of the main unit.
VU meter: This is for sound level output. The needle of this
VU meter can swing along with the music volume.
BIT RATE meter: The needle of this BIT RATE meter can
swing along with the speed of disc reading.
Special Function
Transmitter for IR wireless headphone
•This unit has the IR transmitter to support IR wireless
headphone system. The effective area for IR signal will be
at all the angle of 30 degree form the main unit.
•The limitation location is within 7 meters.
Pls noted: This IR headphone is an optional part for this
model. Pls contact your supplier for more information.

A LED: It is for IR wireless headphone transmitter.
B LED indicator: It will blink or light when the main unit has
volume output. (Subject to the sound format of Disc)
C LED indicator: It will light when the main unit read the
memory card.
Note:
The amount of data used to hold a given length of audio
& video data transfer; measured in kilobits per second,
or kbps, or the speed at which you record. However, higher
bit rates use more space on a Disc.
Specification:
FM system Carrier frequency: Right channel 2.8MHz;
Left channel 2.3MHz.
These are standard specification, it can work with any
standard IR headphones.

If you experience any of the following difficulties while using
the system, use this troubleshooting guide to help you rem-
edy the problem. Should any problem persist, consult your
nearest service center.
No power
•Is the power cord firmly plugged into the power outlet?
•One of the safety mechanisms may be operating. In this
event, unplug the player from the power outlet briefly and
then plug it in again.
No picture
•Check that the system is connected securely.
•The video connecting cord is damaged. Replace it with
a new one.
•Make sure you connect the system to video input
connector on the TV.
•Make sure you turn on the TV.
•Make sure you select the video input on the TV so that
you can view the pictures from this system.
The picture noise appears
•Clear the disc.
•If video from this system has to go through your VCR to
get to your TV, the copy-protection applied to some DVD
programs could affect picture quality. If you still experi-
ence problems after checking your connections, please
try connecting your DVD system directly to your TV’s S-
Video input, if your TV is equipped with this input.
The aspect ratio of the screen cannot be changed even
though you set “TV DISPLAY”in the SETUP menu when you
play a wide picture.
•The aspect rate is fixed on your DVD disc.
•If you connect the system with the S-Video cable,
connect directly to the TV. Otherwise, you may not
change the aspect rate.
•Depending on the TV, you may not change the aspect
rate.
Severe hum or noise is heard
•Check that the connecting cords are away from a
transformer or motor, and at least 3 meters away from a
TV set or fluorescent light.
•Move your TV away from the audio components.
•The plugs and jacks are dirty. Wipe them with a cloth
slightly moistened with alcohol.
•Clear the disc.
The language for the subtitles cannot be changed when
you play a DVD
•Multilingual subtitles are not recorded on the DVD.
•Changing the language for the subtitles is prohibited on
the DVD.
The subtitles cannot be turned off when you play a DVD
•Depending on the DVD, you may not be able to turn the
subtitles off.
The angles cannot be changed when you play a DVD
•Multi-angles are not recorded on the DVD.
•Change the angles when the angle mark appears on
the TV screen.
•Changing the angles is prohibited on the DVD.
The system does not operate properly
•Static electricity, etc., may affect the system’s operation.
Press the STANDBY ( ) button to turn off, then press
again to turn on.
Troubleshooting
There is no sound or only a very low-level sound is heard.
•Make sure that you have selected the correct source on
the system.
•The protective device on the system has been activated
because of a short circuit. Turn off the system, eliminate
the short-circuit problem and turn on the power again.
•The audio connecting cord is damaged. Replace it with
a new one.
•The system is in pause mode or in slow-motion play
mode, or fast forward or fast reverse is performed.
Press PLAY/PAUSE to return to normal play mode.
