.7 ALWAYS BE ALERT when operating mower. DO NOT let outside interests dis-
tract you.
8 ALWAYS CLEAR AREA to be mowed of any foreign objects (stones, wire, cans,
bottles, etc. that could be picked up and thrown by mower.
9 ALWAYS DISENGAGE ALL attachment levers BEFORE ATTEMPTING to start
mower.
10 ALWAYS DISENGAGE POWERTAKE-OFF (PTO) attachments, RETURN ALL
leversto NEUTRAL POSITION, STOP engine and REMOVE key PRIORto leaving
operator's seat FORANY reason. fj'

11 ALWAYS DISENGAGE power, STOP engine, and REMOVE spark plug wire, ~
Jbefore attempting any inspection, adjustment,cleaning, or repair. ~
i12 When not mowing, DO NOT drive (transport)the mower with cutting deck

13 USE CARE when mowing around fixed objects. NEVERdeliberately run over
foreign objects as damage to mower and/or injuryto others may result.
. 14 NEVER MOW on a surface angle greater than 15 degrees. ALWAYS MOW
ACROSSthefaceonslopesof15degreesorless-NEVERUPANDDOWN.DO
NOTATTEMPT sudden starts or stops when mowing on a slope. AVOID SUDDEN
TURNS and use EXTREME CAUTION when changing directions on any slope. =~
15 IF MOWER STOPS while going uphill, DISENGAGE BLADE and BACK
MOWER SLOWLY down hill.
16 Use CARE when operating near, or crossing roadways.
17 DISENGAGEcutting deck bladeswhen backing up. DO NOT MOW IN
REVERSEas a practice. IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARYto mow in reverse,
ALWAYS OBSERVEAREA UNDERAND BEHIND YOU before mowing.
18 Mower and attachments SHOULD BE STOPPED AND INSPECTED AFTER
STRIKING ANY FOREIGN OBJECT. ANY DAMAGE should be repaired before
using mower again.

Forcing themtogether indicates that they are not
properly aligned and will cause severedamage
to unit. Whensplines arealigned correctly, halves
will slide together easily.
