INTRODUCTION
Thank you for trusting YPSILON ELECT ONICS™. We assure you that you have
made an excellent purchase. Your pre-amplifier is made only by the best and most
reliable materials and we guarantee it will offer you many hours of music enjoyment.
Every pre-amplifier, before delivery, is thoroughly checked and measured for
ensuring trouble free operation.
Our goal is to offer you devices of the highest standard of build quality and sonic
performance.

3
PLACEMENT OF THE PST 100 PRE-AMPLIFIER
PST-100 pre-amplifier is designed to reduce interference from external magnetic and
radio fields. Although placement is not critical, any magnetic fields should be
avoided.
A solid and sturdy surface should be used as this pre-amplifier has a substantial
weight.
As it will generate quite some heat, in order to achieve the best operating conditions,
it is strongly suggested that there is good air circulation around the pre-amplifier and
especially on its sides where its coolers are positioned.
There must be line of sight from the listening position for the remote control to work
correctly.

4
TAKING CARE OF YOUR PST-100
When wanting to clean the PST-100 pre-amplifier always disconnect from the mains
electricity and use a clean, slightly damp cloth with no possibility of color running.
NEVER CLEAN PRE-AMPLIFIER CASING WHEN DEVICE IS
CONNECTED TO MAINS ELECTRICITY.
ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM MAINS ELECTRICITY PRIOR TO ANY
SUCH ACT.
CONNECTING CABLES
For best results it is recommended to keep the input and output cables as short as
possible. Do not use longer cables than needed. For more information contact your
dealer or the factory.

5
CONNECTING TO THE MAINS OUTLET
Your pre-amplifier has a description of the appropriate operation voltage on its back
panel. Please make sure not to overlook the specifications. In case you need to operate
it in a region with no complying voltage, contact your dealer or the factory. The
power cable that you will use must be at least 3 x 1.5 square mm and grounded to the
mains outlet.
The on/off switch for the PST-100 is located on the back panel.
This device is Class I and the following safety rules apply:

will not be compliant with international rules and regulations
CONNECTING INPUT CABLES
Your PST-100 has six inputs on the back panel. With input 4 being input/rec for both
input signal and recording output signal. In input 6 an XL connector is used which is
unbalanced. Only connect signal from source.

8
CONNECTING OUTPUT CABLES
There are two types of output connectors on the back panel of the PST-100.
Always use only one output type at any one time, either the XL connector or the
CA connector.
It must be pointed out that the XL connector is unbalanced and pins 1&3 are
grounded
Only connect to power amplifier.

9
POWER SUPPLY
The PST-100 uses a power supply with a big choke and a valve rectifier.
The valve used is a EZ 81/ 6CA4.This valve is also specified for 10.000 hours
operation. When the valve lifetime passes contact your dealer or the factory.
DESCRIPTION
The volume is controlled by an output transformer. The transformer has 31 steps of
which the first five steps are 3db,the following four are 2 db and the next eighteen
steps are 1,5 db and the final four steps are of one db attenuation.
The active gain stage uses one C3m valve per channel transformer coupled. The
lifetime of the valves is specified at 10.000 hours. These valves have been matched to
+/- 0,2 db.
When the valve lifetime passes contact your dealer or the factory for a new matched
set.
OPERATION
After completing all the connections on the PST-100 your pre-amplifier is ready to be
turned on.
When turned on, the front display screen will illuminate and the following message
can be read “YPSILON PST-100 mk2” this message will last for 30 seconds and
then it will turn to “VOLUME 00 INPUT 1 CD”.
Choose the appropriate input and suitable volume level by using the remote control.

10
REMOTE CONTROL
The PST-100 remote control has 6 buttons. Starting from the top the first button is
marked “S” and when on “VOL 00” position it is a mode selector for choosing either
the ACTIVE or the PASSIVE stage.
Further down is the button marked ”D” which is used to turn the display on/off.
Further down is the Input selector marked “IN” which is used to select the desired
input.
When the pre-amp is turned on the display will illuminate the message “VOLUME
00 INPUT 1 CD”, accordingly choose the desirable input by using the “IN” button.
Further down is the volume selector marked “VOL” to choose appropriate volume
level
The remote control uses 2 AA batteries. The battery compartment is accessed by
removing the back plate using a 2 mm hex key.

11
PROGRAM SELECTION
By using the button “S” on the remote control, when in Vol “00”, either the ACTIVE
or the PASSIVE stage of the pre-amplifier can be selected.
When choosing the ACTIVE stage the display will illuminate the message “ACTV”
and when choosing the PASSIVE stage the message “PASS” will illuminate.
When in a setting other than Vol “00” button “S” is used as a mute button.
When in the ACTIVE mode from steps 1 to 6 the pre-amplifier uses the PASSIVE
stage of the circuit. From step 7 upwards all the way to step 37 the ACTIVE mode is
engaged.
When in the PASSIVE mode from steps 1 to 31 the pre-amplifier uses the PASSIVE
stage of the circuit. In step 31 the overall gain is 0db.To efficiently drive the
transformer its best to use a source with no more than 3kohm output impedance. The
“0db” setting in the ACTIVE mode is on step 25.
The PASSIVE mode reaches step 31.
