1. General Description
The Z3-DM368-SDI-RPS development system consists of both hardware and software. The hardware
provided includes one Z3-DM368-MOD system on module card and a carrier, or application board, the Z3-
DM368-APP-11 (X is the HW release version), which provides advanced video input capabilities. The
bundled software includes all necessary components for the user to develop its own advanced multimedia,
graphics and DSP applications.
Measuring only 44x67 mm, the Z3-DM368-MOD is a compact OEM module supporting H.264 codec at
1080p30 fps (frames per second) encode and stream, decode from stream or store in applications such as
broadcast video, video security, digital signage, video kiosks, internet gaming, networked multimedia
appliances and industrial video. The Z3-DM368-MOD features a unique edge connector design which
supplies all interfaces native to the DM368 to an application board mate, including I2C, SPI, LCD, USB,
Serial, SD/MMC/MS, digital video, digital audio, analog composite and component video. Figure 1 below
shows the Z3-DM368-MOD system on module.

An application board, Z3-DM368-APP-11,is available from Z3 Technology and is included with the
Z3-DM368-SDI-RPS system. This application board contains the I/O blocks for a broadcast quality video
encoder. It uses the I/O expansion capability of the Z3-DM368-MOD to implement additional functions not
present in the base module. The Z3-DM368-APP-11 application board has SDI and Component inputs,
Ethernet and ASI outputs and two analog stereo audio inputs. Figure 2 below shows the Z3-DM368-MOD-01
system mounted on a Z3-DM368-APP-11 carrier board.
Software licensing, additional design services and support are available from Z3 Technology. Please contact
Z3 at http://www.z3technology.com or e-mail at sales@z3technology.com.

9. Troubleshooting
No video is usually caused by networking issues.
1): Check IP address and Netmask. Ping PC from Z3-DM368-SDI-RPS and ping Z3-DM368-SDI-RPS
from PC. Use direct connection from Z3-DM368-SDI-RPS system to PC without router/customer
network. Once video connection is established, then add in customer specific network equipment.
2): Check to make sure firewalls are turned off
3): Check video source. Verify video source is outputting compatible analog video
4): Verify PC is fast enough and has enough DDR to decode compressed video
5): Verify VLC version is 1.1x or later
