Installation
This appliance is heavy. Care shoul be taken when
moving it.
It is angerous to alter the specifications or attempt
to mo ify this pro uct in any way.
Ensure that the appliance oes not stan on the
electrical supply cable. If the supply cable is
amage , it must be replace by a cable available
from your local Service Force Centre.
Any electrical work require to install this appliance
shoul be carrie out by a qualifie electrician or
competent person.

Whenever possible, the back of the appliance
shoul be close to a wall, but leaving the require
istance for ventilation, as state in the installation
instructions.
The appliance shoul be left for 2 hours after
installation before it is turne on, in or er to allow
the refrigerant to settle.

Do not allow chil ren to tamper with the controls or

During Use
This appliance is esigne for omestic use only,
specifically for the storage of e ible foo stuffs. It is
not inten e for commercial or in ustrial use.
Containers with flammable gases or liqui s can
leak at low temperatures. Do not store any
containers with flammable materials, such as spray
cans, fire extinguisher refill cartri ges etc. in the
freezer.
Frozen foo shoul not be refrozen once it has
thawe out.
Do not place carbonate or fizzy rinks in the freezer.
Ice lollies can cause 'frost/freezer burns' if
consume straight from the freezer.
Do not remove items from the freezer if your han s
are amp/wet, as this coul cause skin abrasions
or frost/freezer burns.

This appliance is esigne for the freezing an

To ensure correct operation, the appliance shoul
be locate where the ambient temperature is
between 16-32 °C.

Indicator Lights
The in icator lights are situate in the control panel.
a.) Green Indicator Light
When the appliance is switche on at the mains the
green in icator light will illuminate an remain lit
until the appliance is switche off at the mains.
b.) Red Indicator Light
A few hours after starting up the re in icator light
will go out to show that the correct temperature has
been reache for the setting chosen an will stay
out to in icate that everything is in or er.
It will come on if the freezer temperature rises
un uly for instance, after opening the freezer oor
or placing foo insi e the cabinet, but the light
shoul go out again when the temperature returns
to the correct storage level.
c.) Yellow Indicator Light - (Fast Freeze)
When fast freeze is switche on the Yellow
In icator Light will illuminate an remain lit until fast
freeze is switche off.
d.) Fast Freeze Facility
To operate the Fast Freeze Facility sli e the switch
to the right han position.
e.) Thermostat Control
This is for setting an changing the temperature
insi e the appliance.
Basket Storage
Frozen foo shoul be store in the two lower baskets
an the top compartment use for storage or fast
freezing of fresh foo .
Freezer Tray
The Freezer Tray is particularly suitable for open
freezing, for example strawberries, raspberries etc.

Using the Appliance
Before Use
Remove all packaging an securing tapes. Wash
insi e the appliance with lukewarm water an
bicarbonate of so a (5 ml to 0,5 litre of water). Do not
use soap or etergent as the smell may linger. Dry
thoroughly.
Do not use detergents, abrasive powders,
highly perfumed cleaning products, wax
polishes or products containing alcohol.
FFTo Start the Appliance
1. Allow the appliance to stan for 2 hrs after
installation.
2. Plug in the appliance an switch on at the mains
supply.
3. Sli e the 'fast freeze' switch to the right (yellow
in icator light will illuminate) an leave to run for 4
hours to allow the correct temperature to be
reache before placing foo insi e.
4. The re in icator light will also illuminate until the
correct temperature is reache .
5. When the appliance has reache the set
temperature an the re in icator light has gone
out sli e the 'fast freeze' switch back to the left.
Thermostat Control
The temperature within the freezer is controlle by the
thermostat control knob situate on the control panel.
0 = Off
Turning the thermostat control knob clockwise makes
the temperature progressively col er.
Freezing Fresh Food
It is important that fresh foo place in the freezer is
frozen quickly an that the foo alrea y in the freezer
is heate as little as possible.
FFIf more than 3-4 kg of foo is to be frozen:
1. Sli e the fast freeze switch ( ) to the right 6-24
hours before placing the fresh foo in the freezer,
the yellow light will illuminate. The compressor will
now run continuously, to ensure that the fresh foo
is frozen as quickly as possible.
2. Place the foo in the freezing compartment an
leave the 'fast freeze' switch on for a further 24
hours.

3. After 24 hours, sli e the 'fast freeze' switch back to
the left (the yellow light will go out) an transfer the
foo to the storing compartments. The freezer will
return to normal storage temperature.
If the 'fast freeze' switch is accidentally left on,
the freezer will not be damaged, but energy
will be wasted.
Frozen Food Storage
When first starting the freezer or if the freezer has
been out of use for some time, we a vise you to run
your appliance for at least 2 hours with the 'fast freeze'
switch on before storing frozen foo .
Do not excee the storage perio in icate by the
manufacturer.
Do not open the oor frequently or leave it open
longer than is necessary.
Important
Do not put carbonated liquids in the freezer.
Ice lollies, if consumed immediately after removal
from the freezer can cause a low temperature skin
burn.
Do not remove items from the freezer if your hands
are damp wet, as this could cause skin abrasions or
frost freezer burns.
In the event of a power cut the food in the freezer
will not be affected if the power cut is short and the
freezer is full. Do not open the lid. Should the food
begin to thaw it must be consumed quickly and
must not be re-frozen. (See Hints and Tips)
Thawing
Deep frozen or frozen foo , prior to being use , can
be thawe in a fri ge or at room temperature,
epen ing on the time available. Small foo items may
even be cooke from frozen, in this case cooking will
take longer.
Any frozen foo which is allowe to thaw acci entally
shoul either be eaten as soon as possible, or thrown
away. Alternatively, if the foo is uncooke an has not
been completely efroste it can be cooke an then
refrozen.
Defrosted cooked food must never be
refrozen.
FFTo ake Ice Cubes
1. Fill the ice cube tray 3/4 full with col water,
place in the freezing compartment an leave to
freeze.
2. To remove the cubes twist the tray or hol it
un er running water for a few secon s.
Never try to free an ice tray that is frozen
to the freezer compartment by using
pointed or sharp edged objects.
Hints & Tips
Food Storage
To obtain the best performance from your freezer:
Do not store warm foo or evaporating liqui .
Avoi buying frozen foo if you cannot store it
straight away. The use of an insulate container
is a visable. When you arrive home, place the
frozen foo in the freezer imme iately.
Do not push foo together too much, try to allow
air to circulate aroun each item.
Do not store foo uncovere .
Ensure that foo place in the freezer is ate
an labelle an use in ate or er to ensure
that foo is consume at its best.
Lean foo keeps better an longer than fatty
foo , salt re uces the storage time.
Wrap the foo in polythene or aluminium
freezing bags or foil so that they a here to the
foo an provi e an airtight seal.
Packaging which is swollen or has traces of
refrozen water roplets on the pack coul
in icate that the pro uct has not been kept at a
suitable temperature an that it may have lost its
original quality. Partially thawe foo must not be
refrozen, it must be consume within 24 hours.
Never excee the storage times in icate by the
manufacturer.

Energy Saving Advice
Do not install the appliance close to sources of
heat, such as a boiler or ra iator.
Locate the appliance in a cool well ventilate room
an make sure that the air openings of the
appliance are not obstructe .
Avoi unnecessary frosting in the cabinet by
packing all foo stuffs into airtight packages before
placing them in the freezer.
Foo which is to be frozen (when cool) shoul be
place in the fri ge before being transferre to the
freezer.
Try to avoi keeping the oor open for long perio s
or opening the oor too frequently as warm air will
enter the cabinet an cause the compressor to
switch on unnecessarily often.
Ensure there are no obstructions preventing the
oor from closing properly.
In the Event of a Power Failure
If there is a power failure uring the storage of
frozen foo s, keep the oor close . If the
temperature within your freezer shoul rise, o not
refreeze the foo without checking its con ition.

Ice Cream: Once thawe shoul be iscar e .
Fruits & Vegetables: If soft shoul be cooke an
use up.
Breads & Cakes: Can be refrozen without anger.
Shellfish: Shoul be refrigerate an use up
quickly.
Cooked Dishes: i.e. casseroles shoul be
refrigerate an use up.
Large Pieces of eat: Can be refrozen provi ing
there are still ice crystals remaining within them.
Small Joints: Shoul be cooke an can then be
refrozen as cooke ishes.
Chicken: Shoul also be cooke an refrozen as a
fresh ish.

Before any maintenance or cleaning is
carried out you must DISCONNECT the
appliance from the electricity supply.
Internal Cleaning
Clean the insi e an accessories with warm water an
bicarbonate of so a (5 ml to 0.5 litre of water).

NEVER use detergents, abrasive powders,

damage the surface and leave a strong
odour.
External Cleaning
Wash the outer cabinet with warm soapy water.

an the compressor at the back of the appliance with
a brush or vacuum cleaner, as an accumulation of ust
will affect the performance of the appliance an cause
excessive electricity consumption.
When the Appliance is not in
Use
When the appliance is not in use for long perio s,
isconnect from the electricity supply, empty all
foo s an clean the appliance, leaving the oor
open to prevent unpleasant smells.
Defrosting
The freezer compartment will become progressively
covere with frost. This shoul be remove with the
special plastic scraper provi e whenever the
thickness of frost excee s 6mm (¼).
During this operation it is not necessary to switch
off the power supply or to remove the foo stuffs.
However, when the ice becomes very thick on the
inner liner, complete efrosting shoul be carrie
out an it is a visable to peform this operation
when the appliance is empty.

Solution
Check there is power at the socket.
Check there is not a power cut by checking the
househol lights.
Check the fuse has not blown.
Check the thermostat control knob setting.
Check the ambient temperature is within the
appliances operating limits of 16 °C to 32 °C.
Check that the thermostat control knob is turne to
the correct setting relative to ambient con itions.
Set the thermostat control knob to a lower
position.
Check the oor has not been left open.
Check nothing is preventing the oor from closing.
Check the oor gasket is intact an clean.
Check if the appliance stan s stable (all four feet
shoul be on the floor).
FFTo carry out complete efrosting:
1. Disconnect the appliance from the electrical
supply. If the plug is inaccessible turn the
thermostat control knob to 0.
2. Remove any store foo , wrap in several layers of
newspaper an store in a cool place.
3. Leave the oor open.
4. Carefully raw the plastic rain spout out of the
lower part of the appliance accor ing to the
irection of the arrow an place a tray of a suitable
size in the position shown.
5. During efrosting, push the efrost water
towar s the e ge of the cooling plates using a
ry cloth or a sponge. It will be collecte at the
bottom of the appliance, from where it can be
iverte into the tray an then ispose of.
6. To accelerate the efrosting process place a
bowl of hot (not boiling) water insi e the freezer
an close the oor.
7. When efrosting is complete , ry the interior
thoroughly, replace the rain spout an close
the oor.
8. Turn the thermostat control knob back to a
me ium setting an leave to run for at least 4
hours with the 'fast freeze' switch on.
9. Replace the previously remove foo .
Important
A temperature rise of the frozen food packs
during defrosting may shorten their safe storage
life.
Never use sharp metal tools to scrape off frost
from the evaporator as this could damage the
appliance beyond repair.
Something Not Working
If the appliance is not working correctly, please carry out the following checks before contacting your local
Zanussi Service Force Centre.
If after the above checks your appliance still oes not
operate correctly, contact your local Service Force
Centre.
Please note that it will be necessary to provi e proof
of purchase for any in-guarantee service calls.
In-guarantee customers should ensure that the
above checks have been made, as the
engineer will make a charge if the fault is not a
mechanical or electrical breakdown.
