It is most important that this instruction book should be retained with the appliance for future
reference. Should the appliance be sold or transferred to another owner, or should you move house and
leave the appliance, always ensure that the book is left with the appliance in order that the new owner
can get to know the functioning of the appliance and the relevant safety information.
This information has been provided in the interest of safety.You MUST read it carefully before installing
or using the appliance.
Installation
• This appliance is heavy. Care should e taken when
moving it.
• It is dangerous to alter the specifications or attempt
to modify this product in any way.
• Care must e taken to ensure that the appliance
does not stand on the electrical supply ca le.
Important if the supply ca le is damaged, it must
e replaced y a special ca le availa le from your
local Service Force Centre.
• Any electrical work required to install this appliance
should e carried out y a qualified electrician or
competent person.
• Parts which heat up should not e exposed.
The ack of the appliance should e close to a solid
wall ut leaving the required distance for ventilation
as stated in the installation instructions.
• The appliance should e left for 2 hours after
installation efore it is turned on, in order to allow
the refrigerant to settle.
Child Safety
• Do not allow children to tamper with the controls or
play with the product.
• Keep all packaging well away from children.
General Safety
• This appliance contains hydrocarbons in its
cooling unit; maintenance and recharging must
therefore only be carried out by authorised
technicians.
• Take utmost care when handling your appliance
so as not to cause any damages to the cooling
unit with consequent possible fluid leakages.
•The appliance must not be located close to
cookers, radiators or boilers.
•Avoid prolonged exposure of the appliance to
direct sunlight.
•Do not use other electrical appliances (such as
ice cream makers) inside of refrigerating
appliances.
During Use
• This appliance is designed for domestic use only,
specifically for the storage of edi le foodstuffs.
• Frozen food must NOT e re-frozen once it has
thawed out.
• Do not place car onated or fizzy drinks in the
freezer.
• Do not remove items from the freezer if your
hands are damp/wet, as this could cause skin
a rasions or frost/freezer urns.
• Ice lollies can cause ‘frost/freezer urns’ if
consumed straight from the freezer.
• Manufacturers’ storage recommendations should
e strictly adhered to. Refer to relevant
instructions.
• The cooling plate or refrigerated freezer shelves
in this appliance contain channels through which
the refrigerant passes. If these are punctured this
will cause su stantial damage to the appliance
and result in food loss. DO NOT USE SHARP
INSTRUMENTS to scrape off frost or ice. Under
NO circumstances should solid ice e forced off
the lining or shelves. Solid ice should e allowed
to thaw, when defrosting the appliance. See
Defrost Instructions.
Maintenance and Cleaning
• Switch off and unplug the appliance efore
carrying out any cleaning or maintenance work.
Servicing
• This product should e serviced y an authorised
engineer and only genuine spare parts should e
used.
• Under no circumstances should you attempt to
repair the machine yourself. Repairs carried out
y inexperienced persons may cause injury or
serious malfunctioning. Refer to your local
Service Force Centre and always insist on
genuine spare parts.
At the end of the Appliance
Life
• When disposing of your appliance, use an
authorised disposal site.
• Remove the plug and ensure that any locks or
catches are removed, to prevent young children
eing trapped inside.

OPERATION
Before using
Remove all securing tapes. Wash inside the
appliance with lukewarm water and icar onate of
soda (5 ml to 0.5 litre of water).
Do not use soap or detergent as the smell may
linger. Dry thoroughly.

ON: Press the utton (B). The pilot light (A)
illuminates.
OFF: Keep the utton (B) until the pilot light (A) and
the temperature indicator switches off.
Attention!
During the initial sta ilising period the temperature
displayed cannot correspond to the requested
temperature.
D.Temperature display
During normal use the display shows the
temperature inside the freezer.
Attention!
A difference etween the temperature display and
temperature setting is normal. Especially when:
- a new setting has recently een selected
- the door has een left open for a long time
- warm food has een placed in the compartment.
C - E. Temperature setting buttons
The temperature can e adjusted etween -15°C
and -24°C.
By pressing the utton (C or E), the current
temperature setting flashes in the display. It is only
possi le to modify the temperature with the indicator
flashing. To set a warmer temperature, press utton
(C). To set a colder temperature, press utton (E).
The indicator displays the newly selected
temperature for a few seconds and then shows again
the internal compartment temperature.
The newly selected-temperature should e reached
within 24 hours.

• If using a 100 mm plinth, fit the complete height
compensation strip.
Alignment height of 870 mm
• If using a 190 to 220 mm plinth, make a cut-out
as shown on the previous page.
• If using a plinth higher than 150 mm ut less than
190 mm, cut the height compensation strip
supplied with the appliance to the required depth
and fit it etween the plinth and the ventilation
grill.
• If using a 150 mm plinth, fit the complete height
compensation strip.
• If the appliance is installed at the end of a row of
units, insert foot E to hold the plinth in place.

Storage of frozen food
When first starting-up or after a period out of use,
efore putting the products in the compartment let
the appliance run for at least two hours on the Fast
Freeze setting, then push the Fast Freeze utton
again.
Do not exceed the storage period indicated y the
manufacturer.
Finally, do not open the door frequently or leave it
open longer than is a solutely necessary.
Warning
Do not put car onated liquids, (fizzy drinks etc.), in
the freezer compartment.
Ice lollies, if consumed immediately after removal
from the freezer, can cause low temperature skin
urns.
Do not remove items from the freezer if your hands
are damp/wet, as this could cause skin a rasions or
“frost/freezer urns”.
Important
In the event of a power cut the food in the freezer will
not e affected if the power cut is short and if the
freezer is full. Do not open the door. Should the food
egin to thaw, it must e consumed quickly and must
not e re-frozen .

In the event of an a normal temperature rise inside
the freezer (e.g. power cut) warning light (F) will start
to flash and a uzzer will sound.
After the temperature has returned to normal, the
warning light (F) will continue to flash, although the
uzzer has stopped.
When the alarm utton (G) is pressed, the warmest
temperature reached in the compartment flashes in
the display (D).
Operation
Insert the plug in the power socket. Press the utton
ON/OFF (B). The freezer is switched on.
The freezer is pre-set to run at -18°C. This
temperature will e reached in a few hours.
As soon as the appliance is switched on the
temperature indicator (D) shows the current
temperature inside the freezer, the alarm reset light
(F) flashes and a uzzer sounds. Press the alarm
reset utton (G). The uzzer stops and the alarm
light (F) continues to flash until the requested
temperature is reached.
H. Fast Freeze pilot light
I. Fast Freeze button
To freeze fresh foods, the “Fast freeze” function must
e actived. Press the fast freeze utton (I).The
relevant pilot light (H) illuminates. When this function
is on, SP is shown in the display .
The function can e deactived at any time, y
pressing the utton (I), otherwise it automatically
switches off. With the function deactived the pilot light
(H) switches off.
Freezing fresh food
To freeze fresh food, press the Fast Freeze utton (I)
at least 24 hours efore.
Place the food to e frozen in the fast freeze
compartment. The maximum quantity of food which
can e frozen in 24 hrs. is shown on the rating plate.

Warning!
When to use the “Fast Freeze” function:

• Fit the appliance into the recess.

• The top of the appliance must e kept clear to
allow correct air circulation. If a wall unit is fitted
a ove the appliance, there must e a gap of 50
mm etween this unit and the wall and it must e
at least 50 mm elow the ceiling.
Fitting the plinth
Alignment height of 820 mm
• If using a 140 to 170 mm plinth, make a cut-out
as shown.
• If using a plinth higher than 100 mm ut less than
140 mm, cut the height compensation strip
supplied with the appliance to the required depth
and fit it etween the plinth and the ventilation
grill, pressing it into position elow this grill.

Thawing
Frozen food, prior to eing used, can e thawed in
the fridge or at room temperature depending on the
time availa le. Small food items may even e cooked
from frozen; in this case cooking will take longer.
Any frozen food which is allowed to thaw accidentally
should either e eaten as soon as possi le or thrown
away. Alternatively, if the food is uncooked and has
not een completely defrosted it can e cooked and
then refrozen.
Meat, fish and fruit should e thawed in the
refrigerator compartment and small pieces of meat
can even e cooked while still frozen, ut you must
ensure that it is thoroughly cooked through.
Vegeta les should e directly immersed in oiling
water; ready-cooked dishes can e placed directly in
the oven in their aluminium wrapping.
A microwave oven is particularly suita le for thawing
any type of frozen or deep-frozen food: follow the
oven instructions, particularly regarding the
placement of aluminium wrapping or containers in
the oven.
Defrosted cooked food must never be refrozen.
Making ice cubes
The appliance is provided with one or more trays for
ice-cu es.
Fill the tray(s) 3/4 full to give the ice space to expand
and place them in the freezer compartment.
To release the ice cu es simply give the tray a slight
twist.
Do not use sharp or metallic instruments to remove
the trays from the freezer.
Freezer compartment
• If food is to e frozen immediately after having
installed the appliance or after a prolonged period
out of use, push the utton (I) and allow the
appliance to run for at least 4 hours efore
placing the food in it.
If the freezer is already operating, with food inside
it, push the utton (I) 24 hours efore loading
food to e frozen.
• The alarm light indicates when the temperature
inside the freezer compartment has risen to a
point at which safe storage of frozen foods can no
longer e guaranteed. When the appliance is first
started up, or after having loaded a quantity of
food to e frozen, this warning light will stay or
until a safe storage temperature has een
reached.
• Products to e frozen should e placed in the fast
freeze compartment and, once frozen, moved to
the storage askets.
• The maximum freezing capacity is 13 kg in 24
hours. Do not freeze more than this quantity at a
time.
Useful hints for freezing
• Products to e frozen should e fresh and clean.
• Pack foods in suita le family portions which can
e used up all at once.
• Small packs allow fast and uniform freezing.
• Lean foods keep etter and longer than fatty
foods. Salt reduces the storage life of food.
• Wrap foods closely in aluminium foil or plastic
ags or film, and make sure they are properly
sealed.
• Attach a la el to each pack, indicating the
contents and the date on which it was prepared.
• Never place hot foods, ottles or containers with
fizzy drinks in the freezer (they could explode).
• Do not fill containers with lids right to the rim.
• Do not add more food or open the doors during
the freezing process.
• Never place food to e frozen in contact with
already frozen food, as this would increase the
temperature of the latter.

• Close the door again and check that it is
positioned at the requested height. If necessary,
use the adjustment screws situated a ove the
fixing racket and the hinge.
• Use the same adjustment screws to align the
doors vertically.
• Check horizontal alignment of the outer door
panels and, if necessary, correct their position y
moving them along the slots.
• Open the door.
Adjust the alignment of the front face of the outer
door panels y means of the rass insert in the
door mounting rackets.
• Once the door panels are perfectly aligned, fix a
clamp screw inside the upper and lower hinge on
the lower racket. The screws must e tighten
completely inside the slots.

+8°C.
By pressing the utton (L or N), the current
temperature setting flashes in the indicator panel. It
is only possi le to modify the setting temperature
only with the indicator flashing. To set a warmer
temperature, press utton (L). To set a colder
temperature, press utton (N). The indicator panel
displays the newly selected temperature for a few
seconds and then shows again the internal
compartment temperature.
The newly selected-temperature should e reached
after 24 hours.
Attention!
During the initial sta ilising period the temperature

temperature. During this time it is possi le that the
temperature displayed is lower than the actual
temperature.
M. Temperature indicator
During normal operation the indicator shows the
temperature inside the fridge.
Attention!

Use of the refrigerator
- the door has een left open for a long time
- warm food has een placed in the compartment
O. Super Cooling pilot light
P. Super Cooling button
The maximum performance is o tained y setting
the Super Cooling function. It’s recommended when
loading large quantities of food.
Press the Super Cooling utton (P).The relevant pilot
light (O) illuminates.
The internal temperature goes down to +2°C.
After a out 6 hours the Super Cooling function
switches off automatically.
Q. Dynamic Air Cooling light
The D.A.C. light is on y pushing the D.A.C. utton.

Push the D.A.C. utton the light will illuminate.

Height adjustment
The height of the appliance is adjusta le y 50 mm.
in order that the lower doors line up with existing
kitchen units.
Before installing the appliance etween units, adjust
the height of the feet and rear wheels. The wheels
are factory set for a work top height of 820 mm. To
align the appliance to work top height of 870 mm,
raise it y adjusting the feet with a spanner, then
remove the wheels and refit them in the lowest
position.
Fitting the side panels
• Fit the rackets onto the panels in the positions
shown in the diagram. The dimension of 132 mm
is allowed for fitting a 100 mm plinth elow the
panel. For different plinth sizes, reduce or
increase the dimension of 132 mm accordingly.
• Rest the panels against the appliance.
• Fit the rear rackets, taking into account the
thickness of the panels (maximum width of unit
900 mm).
• For a correct alignment make sure that the
distance etween the appliance and the ca inet
is of 45 mm.
• Secure the panels at the front.
• Check the alignment of the doors loosing the
fixing screws and y means the adjustment
ushes.
• Tighten the clamp screw on the ottom hinges of
the doors.

Refrigerator compartment
For proper opening and closing, it is advisa le to act
on oth doors simultaneously (as shown in the
figure).
• Do not place hot food or drinks in the refrigerator;
wait until they have cooled to room temperature.
• Always cover foods, especially those which are
strong-smelling or aromatic.
• Place foods so that air can circulate freely round
them.
The temperature selected may e adjusted to
compensate for temperature variations due to:
• The frequency with which the doors are opened.
• Difference in am ient temperature.
• Quantity of food eing stored.
To make the est use of availa le space, the front
half-shelves may e stacked on top of the rear
halfshelves.
To achieve automatic defrosting of the refrigerator,
the compressor must cut out from time to time. If the
ottom of the compartment ecomes covered with
too much frost, push the warmer temperature utton
(L) until the compressor starts to cut out periodically.
LIGHT

Air recycling
The refrigerator compartment is equipped with a
special D.A.C.(Dynamic Air Cooling) fan which can
e turned on with the utton (R- see the control
panel). The green light (see fig. 1), when on, means
that the fan is working.
It is suggested that the fan (D.A.C.) e used when
the am ient temperature exceeds 25°C .
This device allows for rapid cooling of foods and a
more uniform temperature in the compartment.
Operation
Insert the plug in the power socket. Press the utton
ON/OFF (K). The fridge is switched on.
The fridge is pre-set to run at +5°C. This temperature
will e reached in a few hours.

Electrical connections
Any electrical work required to install this appliance
should e carried out y a qualified electrician or
competent person.
WARNING THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE
EARTHED.
The manufacturer declines any liability should
this safety measure not be observed.
If the plug that is fitted to your appliance is not
suita le for your socket outlet, it must e cut off and
the appropriate plug fitted.
Remove the fuse from the cut off plug.
The cut off plug should then e disposed of to
prevent the hazard of shocks in case it should e
plugged into a 13amp socket in another part of your
home.
Important
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in
accordance with the following code:
Green and Yellow - Earth
Blue - Neutral
Brown - Live
If you fit your own plug, the colours of the wires in
the mains lead of your appliance may not correspond
with the markings identifying the terminals in your
plug, proceed as follows:
Connect the Green and Yellow (earth) wire to the
terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter
«E» or the earth sym ol or coloured green and
yellow.
Connect the lue (neutral) wire to the terminal in the
plug which is marked with the letter «N» or coloured
lack.
Connect the rown (live) wire to the terminal in the
plug which is marked with the letter «L» or coloured
red.

The plug moulded onto the lead incorporates a fuse.
For replacement, use a 13amp BSI362 fuse. Only
ASTA or BSI approved fuses should e used.
The plug must not e used if the fuse cover/carrier is
lost. The cover/carrier is indicated y the coloured
insert at the ase of the plug.
A replacement cover/carrier must e o tained from
your local Zanussi Service Force Centre.
This appliance complies with the E.E.C. Directive
No. 87/308 of 2.6.87 relative to radio interference
suppression.
This appliance complies with the following
E.E.C. Directives:
- 73/23 EEC of 19.2.73 (Low Voltage Directive)
and su sequent modifications;
- 89/336 EEC of 3.5.89 (Electromagnetic
Compati ility Directive) and su sequent
modifications.
Please ensure that when the appliance is
installed it is easily accessible for the engineer in
the event of a breakdown.

Periodic cleaning
Clean the inside of the appliance and the accesso-
ries with a solution of lukewarm water and icar-
onate of soda (5 ml to 0.5 litre of water). Rinse and
dry thoroughly.
The freezer compartment drawers can e removed
for washing. To remove the drawers, pull them out
until they reach the stop, then lift and withdraw them
from the guides. To refit the drawers, engage them in
the guides then, keeping them tilted, push them
inwards.
Defrosting of the refrigerator
To achieve automatic defrosting of the refrigerator,
the compressor must cut out from time to time. If the
ottom of the compartment ecomes covered with
too much frost, select the temperature towards a
warmer setting until the compressor starts to cut out
periodically.
It is important to periodically clean the defrost water
drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator
compartment channel to prevent the water
overflowing and dripping onto the food inside. Use
the special cleaner provided, which you will find
already inserted into the drain hole.
Important
Never use sharp metal tools to scrape off frost
from the evaporator as you could damage it.
Do not use a mechanical device or any artificial
means to speed up the thawing process other
than those recommended by the manufacturer.
Replacing the bulbs

Unscrew the light cover as shown. Remove the ul
and replace with a new ul (15 watt max ).
Replace the light cover.

Positioning
This appliance should only e installed at a location
where the am ient temperature corresponds to the
climate classification indicated on the rating plate,
which is located at the left on the inside of the
appliance.
The following ta le shows which am ient
temperature is correct for each climate classification:
SN +10°C to + 32°C
N +16°C to + 32°C
ST +18°C to + 38°C
T +18°C to + 43°C
The appliance should e located in a dry
atmosphere, out of direct sunlight and away from
continuous heat and extreme temperature, e.g. not
next to a oiler or radiator, or in a very cold room e.g.
an outhouse. If these temperatures are exceeded i.e.
warmer or colder, then the appliance may not
operate correctly.
