2. Let’s Get Started
2.1 Installing Tinké App
Before you can use Tinké, you must install the Tinké app on your compatible devices. You
can install the Tinké app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store by searching for
“Tinké”.
2.2 Registering for an Account
Once you have installed the app, you can choose:
• Log in option to login to your Tinké account (if you
already have a registered account) to start your
measurement or check your readings; or
• Guest Mode option to perform a quick one-time
measurement (if you do not have an account and
do not wish to register for an account); or
• Create Account option to create your Tinké
account (if you do not have an account) to save
and track your readings.
Select “Create Account” to register for an account.

2.3 Selecting a Measurement
When at Guest Mode or your Tinké account Homepage, choose either VITA or ZEN to
start.
Vita Index is your personalized fitness score created by analyzing data collected from
your heart rate, blood oxygen level and respiratory rate. It takes 30 seconds to find out
your fitness level.
Zen Index uses your heart rate variability to determine your level of relaxation after 60
seconds of controlled breathing.
2.4 Connecting your Tinké
To conduct a measurement, you will need to connect your Tinké device to a compatible
device.
On iOS Devices
Remove the cover of your Tinké and plug it into the dock connector of your iphone or
ipad. A flashing red LED light from Tinké indicates a successful connection.

On Android Devices
Power on your Tinké from the switch located at the bottom left and pair your Tinké.
To pair your Tinké:
a) Access the settings of your compatible smartphone or tablets to enable bluetooth.
b) Power on your Tinké from the switch located at the bottom left. A blinking red
light at the sensing area indicates your Tinké is switched on.
c) Choose either a VITA or ZEN measurement in the app to start measurement and
tap on “Pair Your Tinké” as shown in the app.
Note: Remember to switched o your Tinké after taking a VITA or ZEN measurement.
This will help to conserve your battery.

times your heart beats
in 1 minute. A person in
normal condition has a
heart rate of 60 to 80
beats per minute.

Respiratory Rate
Displayed in breaths
per minute (bpm), this
refers to the number of
breaths (1 breath consists
of inhale and exhale) you

3.2 Taking a Measurement
a) Select “Vita Index” or “Zen Index” from the menubar.
b) Choose “Measure VITA” or “Measure ZEN” from the popup menu to start
measurement.

c) Connect your Tinké when prompted and gently rest your thumb on the sensing
platform.
d) For accurate measurement, your thumb should cover both holes of the sensing
platform. Remain still and do not talk for the entire duration of the measurement.
e) You can use the finger sleeve provided to optimize your measurement (refer to the
picture below.
Tinké for iOS Tinké for Android
f) Do not remove your thumb from the sensing platform until measurement is
complete.
Important:
• Tinké should only be used when indoors, preferably in areas with low lighting
conditions.
• Tinké should be used when you are at rest. Do not use Tinké when you are moving,
engaged in any other activity or immediately after physical exercise.
• Tinké should be used when your finger is warm. Warm finger ensures good blood
circulation for accurate measurement. If your finger is cold, warm it up before taking a
measurement.
• Use the tutorial mode to practise before taking an actual measurement.

3.3 Vita Index Measurement
The following screen appears when you start the measurement:
Your waveform
The shape of the waveform is an
important indicator of measurement
accuracy. Always ensure a consistent
waveform throughout the measuring
process. Retake your measurement if
an inconsistent waveform is observed.
Progress bar
Indicates the progress of the
measurement. A full measurement
takes about 30 seconds.
The ideal waveform
Known as photoplethysmogram
waveform is detected due to blood
volume changes in the capillaries of
your finger. Ensure your waveform
(shown below) follows this shape.
Fun Facts
Learn some interesting facts
that you never heard about.

3.4 Zen Index Measurement
The following screen appears when you start the measurement:
Concentric circles
Serve as a guide to synchronize your
breathing. These circles expand and collapse
periodically, indicating dierent frequencies
with 1 being the slowest and 5 being the fastest.
Progress bar
Indicates the progress of the
measurement. A full measurement
takes about 60 seconds.
To perform a measurement:
1. Tap on the circle that you are most
comfortable with.
2. Breathe according to the pace of the
circle you have selected. Breathe in
as the circle expands and breathe
out as the circle contracts.
3. Continue breathing until the
measurement is complete.
Tips:
Choose a circle of slower pace to practice
deep breathing. Taking slow deep breaths
may help you relax better.

3.5 Poor Measurement Accuracy
The following screens may appear if the measurement conditions are not optimum. As
Tinké conducts its measurement via optical sensing, the sensors detect and inform when
the measurement methods or environmental conditions are not ideal. When the following
screens are encountered, follow the instructions stated on the screen and retake your
measurement.
