InordertoremovemainspowerfromtheTi48,youmustturnoffthemainspowerat
thewallsocket.
2.AUDIOCONNECTIONS
2.1 TheTi48isadigitalaudiostoragesystemandCDtransport;theoutputfrom
itsexternalconnectors(I

SorSPDIF)arepurelydigitalsignals.Itdoesnot
outputananalogue(music)signal.Inordertooutputamusicsignal,youmust
connecttheTi48toanexternaldigitaltoanalogueconverter(DAC)toconvert
thedigitalaudiointoananaloguesignal.TheanalogueoutputsoftheDAC
shouldthenbeconnectedtotheinputsofapreamplifierorintegrated
amplifier.

howtoconnectthedigitalcabletothedigitalinputoftheDAC.
2.4 TheremainingconnectorsonthebackpaneloftheTi48,marked:“SPDIFIN”
and“LINE:MIC/IN/OUT”arecurrentlynotoperational.
3.STARTUP/SHUTDOWN
3.1 TostartuptheTi48,pressonce–firmly onthebuttonlabelled“ON”(back
panel).TheTi48’sLCDscreenwill lightupandtheunitwilltakeabout30
secondstostartup.Itwillbereadytoacceptremotecontrolcommandswhen
thescreenreads:
CAUTION:WhentheTi48isrunning,donotpressthe“ON”buttonagain.
Doingsomaydamagetheharddiskdrivesandwillresultinalongerdelayon
startupthenexttime.
3.2 ToshutdowntheTi48,presstheMENU keyontheremotecontrolhandsetto
accessthemodemenu,usethearrowkeystomovethecursordownthemenu
shownonthescreenWhen thecursorisat“Shutdown”,presstheOKkey.

TheTi48harddiskdrivescontainsaCDrecognitionsoftwareknownasEmDB.This
isacompressedversionoftheFreeDBdatabasewhichisavailableontheinternet:
www.freedb.org.
EmDBwillrecognisemillionsofCDs,providinginformationon theartist/group
name,thealbumtitleand,inmostcases,tracktitlesaswell.Allthisinformationhas
been(andcontinuestobe)enteredintotheFreeDBdatabasebythegeneralpublic.
AsFreeDBisacontinuallyupdateddatabase,yourEmDBcanbeoutofdatewith
regardstothelatestCDreleases.EmDBcanbeupdatedbyaCDROMavailable
periodicallyfromZeroOneAudio.
6.ARCHIVINGMUSIC
6.1 TheTi48has250Gbofharddiskdrivecapacitywhichwillallowabout380
hoursofuncompressedCDaudiotobearchived.
AwholeCDcanbearchivedorpartofaCD(albumsubset)orjustafew
tracksfromaCD.
Oncearchived,theaudioalbumsandindividualtrackscanbeorganisedinto
playlists.Thefiledataassociatedwiththealbumsandtrackscanbeeditedand
organised(seeUserManualforfulldetailsonaudiofilemanagement).

mode.PlaylistsareusefulforcreatingcompilationsofarchivedCDsand/or
tracksforspecificpurposes.
