3 Prod ct overview
3.1 Operational area
The evices are esigne as temperature control units for stable compartments in single or central
exhaust air installations.
•In installations with single s ction, fans, aps an heatings are controlle via the outputs.
•In central exha st installations, these evices are use in combination. The evices controls
the exhaust air ap an the heatings for one compartment. At the same time the exhaust air
volumes of all the compartments connecte are signale to a Master*. The spee is calculate
from the sum of the exhaust air volumes an the fans connecte are rea juste .
In or er to be able to network several evices, these are equippe with a bus interface. In this way, for
example, the supply air temperature sensor connecte to the Master* can be communicate to all
system users. Fault messages on stall evices are transmitte an isplaye as a group fault; in
a ition the total exhaust air volume of the ventilation system is etermine .

controller output which has to be programme ( Installation - IO Setup).
5.4.2 Voltage controllers type PTE.. for 1~ fans
The motor is connecte at terminals U1 an U2. Several motors can be connecte to the evice.
Attention!
The maxim m total control c rrent (specied for electronic voltage reg lation) for all motors
may not exceed the device’s rated c rrent.
If the maxim m control c rrent for electronic voltage reg lation is not known, a s pplementary
20 % of the rated motor c rrent m st be allowed for.
When controlling motors from other man fact rers, the controllability and the maxim m
c rrent for electronic voltage reg lation sho ld be req ested from the man fact rer.
Information
•It is recommen e that a separate motor protection unit be foreseen for each fan.
•For motors with thermistors “TB”e.g. type S-ET10.
5.4.2.1 R nning noise
When controlling ventilators using electronic voltage regulators, motor noise can occur ( ue to the
system), which can be troublesome (Phase cutting = series “P...”).
On fast running ventilators with a high level of air noise, this noise is relatively low. On slow running
ventilators with a low level of air noise, this noise may be ominant in the lower spee range ue to

5.5 Motor protection
Attention!
Motor thermostats cannot be connected to these controller. I.e. a separate motor protection is
req ired. We cannot nder any circ mstances accept liability for damage to the motors which
do not have the req ired motor protection. It is recommended that every fan is eq ipped with a
separate motor protection nit e.g. type S-ET10 ( connection diagram)!
The existing malf nction entry (terminals D3-*D3) can only be sed for display of the existing
malf nction.
•For voltage controllers type PTE.. e.g.. when a motor protection unit has trippe
•For control mo ule type CTE.. fault in ication ETAvent-fan
The fault isplay also isappears as soon as the fault has been eliminate . The fault can be
acknowle ge by pressing the

5.7 Control o tp t A1, A2, A3 (0 - 10 V) and PWM
The evices have three 0 - 10 V outputs an one PWM output (alternative use as a further 0...10 V
output).
It is not permissible to connect outputs of several evices to each other!
The following f nctions are pre-programmed at the factory (other f nctions can be assigned in
the IO Set p):
0 - 10 V O tp t:
•O tp t 1: terminals “A1”/“GND”(I
max
10 mA). For ETAvent fans with 0 - 10 V signal or exhaust
air ampers in the compartment (IO Setup: A1 function = “0”→ventilation)
•O tp t 2: Terminals “A2”/“GND”(I
max
10 mA). Regulator 2 e.g. for throttle shutter after the
exhaust air fan in the stall (IO Setup: A2 function = “2”→shutter) factory inverte (10 V...0 V)
i.e.: 10 V = shutter CLOSED, 0 V = shutter OPEN
•O tp t 3: Terminals “A3”/“GND”(I
max
10 mA). For Heating (IO Setup: A3 function = “1”→
Heating )
PWM o tp t alternatively 0 - 10 V
•O tp t PWM: terminals PWM / +24V. For ETAvent fans with PWM input (IO Setup: PWM
function = “0”→ventilation)
•To change to 0 - 10 V output plug internal jumper “J1”at the top!
Information
Inverting outputs an setting curve points possible (e.g. for not linear ouput) in IO Setup ( Installation
menu).
5.8 Voltage s pply for external devices (+24V, GND)
There is an integrate power supply for external evices, e.g. a sensor. Terminal +24 V, output voltage
tolerance +/- 20%. max. loa current Technical ata.
It is not permissible to connect outputs of several evices to each other!
In case of overloa or short circuit (24 V –GND), the external power supply is shut own (multi-fuse).
The evice performs a “Reset”an continues operation.
5.9 Relay o tp ts (K1, K2, K3)
The evice has three relay outputs, the following functions are pre-programme at the factory. Other
functions can be assigne in “IO Setup”. Max. contact loa 5A / 250 V AC.
K1: Fa lt indication
•Connection of the oating contacts to the terminals 11, 12, 14.
•For operation the relay is energize i.e. terminals “12”an “14”are bri ge (factory setting not
inverte ).
•With power failure, internal fuse failure, temperature malfunction or fan error, the error message
relay at the correspon ing control unit of the compartment rops, the terminals “12”an “11”are
bri ge . The “Master”unit i enties a malfunction of a network user via the ata link, i. e., if a
network user isplays a malfunction, the error relay in the master unit also rops. Due to this
function the fault relay of the “Slave”evices can be assigne if necessary ifferent functions.
•The fault message via the relay can be acknowle ge with the “ESC”key. If the fault persists
(e.g. sensor break) a message is receive again after the a justable time span “Alarm Pause”
(factory setting 60 minutes).
The error message is not to be laye in the same cable as the bus line.
K2: Heating
•Connection of the oating contacts to the terminals 21, 22, 24.
K3: Peak load fan
•Factory setting relay “K3”for function “peak loa fan ”assigne ( “Installation”-“IO Setup”).
A secon fan can be switche on via the terminals “31”un “32”.The activation must be ma e in
“Installation”-“Ventilation”(peak loa ).
Information
Inverting relay function in IO Setup( menu installation) possible.

5.11 Potential at control voltage connections
The control voltage connections (< 50 V) relate to the joint GND potential (Exception: Relay contacts
are potential free). There is a potential separation between the control voltage connections an the
earthe con uctor. It must be ensure that the maximum external voltage at the control voltage
connections cannot excee 50V (between “GND”terminals an “PE”earthe con uctor). If necessary,
a connection to the earthe con uctor potential can be establishe , install bri ge between “GND”
terminal an the “PE”connection (terminal for screening).
