isolated fromeach other

capableofhousingup tosixteen mediaconvertersinbay1~16.
Installation

Selectingasitefortheequipment
Asitisanyelectricdevice,you shouldplacethe equipmentwhereitwill
notbe subjected toextremetemperatures,humidity,orelectromagnetic
interference.Specifically,the siteyou selectshouldmeetthe following
requirements:
-The ambienttemperatureshouldbe between 0to40 degrees Celsius
(32 to104 degrees Fahrenheit).
-The relativehumidityshouldbe less than 90percent, non-condensing.
-Surrounding electricaldevices shouldnotexceedthe electromagnetic
field(RFC) standardsfor IEC 801-3, Level2(3V/M) fieldstrength.
-Makesurethatthe equipmentreceives adequateventilation.Donot
blockthe ventilationholeson each side ofthe switch orthe fan
exhaust port on the side or rear ofthe equipment.
-The power outlet shouldbe within1.8metersofthe switch.
Decidehowtoinstall thesystem
Westronglysuggestthatyou installthe chassisfirst, as thisismore
convenientforyou toinstall mediaconvertersintothe chassiswithease.
The accessories suppliedinthe productpackageincludes:rackmount
screws, rackmount brackets, and bracket screws.
Thiswell-built chassiscanbe installed inthe followingways:
MOUNTEDTO 19-INCHSTANDARDRACK
Use the rackmountbracketsand screwstoinstallthechassisintoanyEIA
19”standardrack.
Step 1:Attach the bracketstoeach side ofthe chassis.Applyscrewsto
each side and securethemtightly.
Step 2:Carefullypositionthe chassisintothe rack.Alignthe bracketsto
the sideholeson the rackand use rackscrewstosecurethe
chassiswiththe rack.
Step 3: Proceedtothe “Connecting toPower”section.
DESKTOPORANYFLAT SURFACE
The chassiscansiton desktop oranyflatsurfacewithadequatespace
and ventilation.Ifyou wanttoplace itontoashelf, makesurethe shelf
can withstand aminimumweight of10kg.
Step 1: Simplyput the chassisonthe desired place.
Step 2: Ensurethe chassisreceives good ventilation.
Step 3: Proceedtothe “Connecting toPower”section
Installing Mediaconverter:
The chassisisequipped withmediaconverter carriers, each ofwhichis
fitted intobaysofthe chassis.
Step 1: Toinstall amediaconverter ontoanyofthe carriers, you haveto
unscrew the carrier fromthe desired bayfirst.
Step 2: Fit the mediaconverter ontothe carrier.
Step 3:Whenthe mediaconverter iscompletelyseated ontothe carrier,
insert the carrier tothe guide railsofthe bayslot.
Step 4: Carefullyslideinthe carrier untilit isfullyand firmlyfitted tothe
power socket. Fasten the screwson the carrier.
i. The chassisisdesigned tohouse onlythe proprietarymedia
converters.
ii. Never insert anymediaconverter intothe chassisdirectlywithout
usingthe suppliedcarriers. These carriersallow secureand consistent
placement ofthe mediaconvertersintothe chassis’backplanewithout
causing anydamage.

Connect topower:
POWER SUPPLY
The chassisshipswithtwopowersupplies.Whenthe chassisisequipped
withtwopower supplies, you can havethe following advanced
performance.
♦Hot Swappable
The design ofthepowersystemisbased on anideaofproviding

maximumflexibilityand redundancy.Inthisway,youmayremoveany
ofthe twopower supplieswithout turning off the system.
♦Redundancy
During operation,bothpowersuppliesareswitchedon and sharethe
currentload.Incase thatone ofthemshouldfail,the otherwill
instantaneouslytake100%ofthe load withoutany loss.Similarly,if
one powersupplyisremoved fromservicing,itcanbe switchedoff
and removed whilethe chassiscontinuesfunctioning.
♦Protection System
The powerofeachconverterbaycomes fromthe twoshared power
supplies.Each bayisisolatedfromeach otherunderacertain
protectionmechanism,sothatitisfree fromanyproblemthatmight
occurtothe powersupplies orfaultyconverterbay.Thisisthe best
solution toprotect your investment inmediaconverters.
CONNECTING TO POWER
The chassissystemisequipped withtwopower supplies.
Step 1: Connect the supplied ACpower cordtothereceptacleon thefront
panelofeachpower supply.
Step 2:Attachthe plug intoastandardACoutletwithavoltage range from
100~240Vac.
Step 3:Turnonthe chassissystembyflipping the ON/OFFswitch beside
the receptacletoONposition.The LEDson the frontpanelofthe
mediaconverter chassissystemwillcomeon then.
Cooling system:
The chassissystemcan holdtwopower suppliesandup to14 media
converters, and therefore,it isnecessarytoprovide agood cooling
systemandso toachieveobtainadequateventilation. The chassisis
equipped withtwohot-swappablepower supplieswithfans at the rear.
The chassisisalsoequipped withonefanon the left and right sideofthe
chassis.
