
The 3M Volition™ 10BaseT to 10BaseFL 24-
port media converter is an inexpensive
device for fiber-to-the-desk cable installation
where a 10BaseFL hub is not installed. The
unit provides a high density 24-port
Ethernet™ twisted-pair electrical signaling to
fiber optic light signaling conversion within
a 1U spacing (1.75 inches, 4.45
centimeters) in standard 19 inch (48.26
centimeters) equipment racks.
The rack mount media converter has 24
VF-45 optical ports on the front which
correspond to 24 RJ-45 twisted-pair ports
on the rear of the unit. An electrical cord is
provided for powering the opto-electrical
conversion. The unit is designed to
interface to RJ-45 ports on 10 Mb/s
Ethernet Repeaters, Hubs and Switches. The
Volition™ Ethernet™ media converter is
specified to operate over 2 km of standard
62.5/125 um multimode optical fiber.
