GIGASYNC
GigaSync is designed to power devices by Power Over Ethernet standard or directly by bipolar Terminals.
It consists of a Base Unit which can host up to three Cartridge expansions. The Base Unit holds the
control and main interface systems while Cartridges specify the power methods: Power Over Ethernet
or Terminals.
1.1.
Base Unit
On the front there are visible the 3 LEDs SYNC, STATUS and ALARM and the OPT function button. The
Base Unit can accommodate up to three cartridges in the Cartridge Slots, simply removing the metal
cover and inserting the cartridge. No fixing screws are required.
On the back there are power input terminals of the Base Unit and their cartridges. Each power input is
independent, insulated and equipped with reverse polarity protection. The voltage range is 18-60 Volts.
The Base Unit can also be powered by PoE IEEE 802.3af standard via the Ethernet. There are also
ports for the SYNC-IN and SYNC-OUT (respectively employable to acquire or replicate the sync pulse)
and the connector for the GPS antenna. For a correct operation of the surge protectors, it is necessary
to connect the ground terminal GND.

GigaSync block diagram
The block diagram highlights the presence of three major structures: a CPU ensures the correct
operation of all the basic electronics operation and carries out the voltage and current measurements
(•), the other CPU manages the User Interface (•), and finally the power components isolated from the
rest of the logic (•). The four power INPUTs, each applicable via two redundant connectors, are isolated
from each other and do not apply any conversion to the voltage applied to the cartridges, in this way it
is possible to simultaneously connect different voltages and different polarities (e.g.: INPUT 1 à48V,
INPUT 2 à24V, INPUT 3 à-48V).

The cartridges power INPUTs are equipped with reverse polarity protection: in case of wrong connection,
the corresponding cartridge is not receiving power.
The two CPUs are powered by an isolated converter. In this way it is guaranteed maximum immunity
against electrical faults on the supply lines of the cartridges.

Cartridges
There are 2 types of cartridges that are used to power various devices both via terminal connectors and
via Power over Ethernet injection. The PoE-CS cartridges are also able to inject the sync pulse. On each
port of all the cartridges a hardware protection against short circuit is active and there are dual stages
TVS and GDT surge arresters on each line.

The cartridges can be inserted and removed from the Base Unit even if the system is powered and operational. It is preferable
to connect the devices to be powered after the insertion of the cartridge to ensure proper calibration of the readings.

Installation
GigaSync is designed for installation in 19" rack cabinet, however, the fastening tabs can be rotated 90°
for wall mounting.
For a correct functioning of the surge arresters it is indispensable to connect to ground the rack cabinet
and connect the grounding terminal on the back.
To install the cartridges just remove the metal plate placed at slot cover on the Base Unit and insert the
cartridge making sure it entirely fits.
No fixing screws for the cartridges are required, the connector provides sufficient strength to prevent
that they do not inadvertently fall. To remove the cartridge pull hard the handle.

Software update
The GigaSync software versions follow the schema: [version]. [release]. [fix].
The version covers the entire software platform, the release introduces new features, fix corrects or
optimizes existing functionality.
1.4.1. File upload
Connect to GigaSync through FTP in port 21 with TLS support, using the access credentials to GigaSync
(ex .: admin, password) or upload the update file in the Controller Actions / System Update of the web
interface.
1.4.2. Upload
Upload the update file update_ [version number] .9dt.
1.4.3. Update
Using your login credentials to GigaSync (ex .: admin, password), connect via SSH and run the command
system / upgrade / upgrade or via web interface in the section Actions Controller / System Update.
GigaSync automatically validate the update installation package.
During the update procedure, GigaSync continues to power the devices connected to it and continues
to inject the sync pulse. When the red LED stops flashing, the software update is complete.

WEB Interface
GigaSync’s WEB interface is specially designed to facilitate access from mobile devices. It is possible to
monitor in real time the parameters of voltage and load applied and send on/off command, power-cycle
and sync. Interpretation of the data is made even easier by the possibility to comment on the ports of
the connected cartridges.
A simple caption red / green / gray color, allows an immediate identification of the ports in alarm and
disabled state.
The graphs of voltage and load values are real time updated and turn yellow and red in the presence of
deviations from the mean.

the connected cartridges.
The line of each cartridge can be expanded to display
information about the ports and to send commands.
The load applied to each port is indicated by a color so
as to make it readily apparent which are the devices with
greater consumption and closer to the maximum load
