CAUTION:
To completely disconnect this product from the mains, disconnect the
plug from the wall socket outlet.
The mains plug is used to completely interrupt the power supply to
the unit and must be within easy access by the user.

6. This system is for indoor use only.
7. Clean only with a dry cloth.
8. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with
the manufacturer’s instructions.
9. Do not install in direct sunlight, or near any heat sources such as
radiators, stoves or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that
produce heat.
10. Do not use any other power supply with this unit.
11. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched
particularly at plugs and the point where it exits from the unit.
12. Only use attachments or accessories specified by the
manufacturer.
13. Unplug this system during lightning storms or when unused for
long periods of time.
14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is
required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way,
such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been
spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus
has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally,
or has been dropped.
15. Batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as
sunshine, fire or similar.
16. Listen at a reasonable volume and take frequent listening
breaks."

CAUTIONS ON INSTALLATION
For proper heat dispersal, do not install the amplifier unit in a
confined space, such as a bookcase or similar enclosure.
A clearance of at least 300mm on all sides and above the unit is
recommended.
Ensure line of sight visibility for remote control sensor.
Do not place any other equipment on this unit.
NOTES ON USE
•Avoid high temperatures.
•Operate your product only from the low-level audio line output jack
of your computer or audio component.
•Handle the power cord carefully. Hold the plug when unplugging
the cord.
•Keep the unit free from moisture, dust and water, including dripping
or splashing fluids or objects filled with liquids, such as vases.
•Unplug the power cord when not in use for long periods of time.
•Do not obstruct the ventilation holes.
•Do not let foreign objects into the unit.
•Do not let pesticides, benzene or thinner come in contact with the
unit.
•Never disassemble or modify the unit in any way.
•Ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation
openings with items such as newspapers, tablecloths or curtains.
•Naked flame sources such as lighted candles should not be placed
on the unit.
•Observe and follow local regulations regarding battery disposal.
•Do not handle the mains cord with wet hands.
•When the switch is in the OFF (STANDBY) position, the equipment
is not completely switched off from the mains.
•The equipment shall be installed near the power supply so that the
power supply is easily accessible.

•Do not keep any parts of this system in a place exposed to direct
sunlight or in places with extremely high temperatures, such as

Getting Started
Thank you for choosing this EMERGENCE system. Please read
this owner’s manual carefully before unpacking and installing the
product. Keep this manual for future reference.
About A3D Technology
A3D has redefined how the world hears music. Sound - like you’ve
heard live - but like never before from a recording.
Sound has shape. At a live concert you not only see with your eyes -
you hear the space you're in and the space around the artists. Your
mind processes that information along with music - creating your
experience of that concert. With the EMERGENCE AS8 Sound
system you get that same spatial sound - just like being there.
Recordings sound like recordings because they’ve lost their spatial
information. The original recording did capture it - but conventional
sound systems and speakers mask much of that information with the
artefacts they add. Our technology and unique speaker design
reveals that spatial information.
Listen anew to your own back-catalogue. It’s like hearing it for the
first time. With your eyes closed, it’s like being there.

System Installation and Positioning
The components of this system may be placed on any solid surface.
We recommend placing one AHG on either side of the amplifier, at
least 600mm apart. Optimal positioning of the AHG satellites is 4
metres apart and 1 metre off the ground.
For some furniture, it may be necessary to attach re-usable adhesive
putty1to the unit’s feet to prevent slippage.
This system is unique as it is otherwise minimally affected by system
position, listener position or the acoustic character of your room.
The performance of this system will change subtly during initial
listening, becoming louder. Allow a running in period of at least 20
hours of average use.
For proper heat dispersal, do not install the amplifier unit in a
confined space, such as a bookcase or similar enclosure. A

recommended. Do not place any other equipment on this unit. Do
not install in sunlight or near any heat source. The recommended
room operating temperature is 20oCelsius.

The set may function improperly or the remote control unit may not
operate if the remote control sensor on the amplifier is exposed to
direct sunlight, strong artificial light from an inverter type fluorescent
lamp or infrared light or if it is hidden from view.
The speaker drive units create stray magnetic fields that extend
beyond the boundaries of the cabinet. We recommend you keep
magnetically sensitive articles at least 500mm from the speaker drive
units. LCD and plasma screens are not affected by magnetic fields.
Cautions on Handling
•Before turning the power switch on
Check once again that all connections are correct and there
are no problems with the connection cables.
•Power supplied to circuitry
Power is supplied to some of the circuitry even when the unit
is set to the standby mode. When leaving home for long periods of
time, be sure to unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
•Condensation
If there is a major difference in temperature between the
inside of the unit and the surroundings, condensation may form on
parts inside the unit, causing it to fail to operate properly. If this
happens, let the unit sit for an hour or two with the power turned off
and wait until there is little difference in temperature before using the
unit.
•Moving your unit
Turn off and unplug the power cord from the wall socket, and
disconnect all cables before moving the system.
•Care for your unit
Clean the exterior with a soft dry cloth. Water or liquid
should not be used. Benzene, paint thinner or other solvents may
cause damage to the surface and should not be used.

Connections
Cautions on Connections
•Do not plug in the power cord until all connections are completed.
•When making connections, also refer to the owner’s manual of the
other components.
•Be sure to connect the left and right channels properly (left with
left, right with right)
•Do not bundle power supply cords together with connection cables.
Doing so can result in humming or noise.
•No other speakers are to be used with the AS8. Only connect the
supplied ST738-50AL Acoustic Hologram Generators.
•Connect the speaker cables so the bare wires do not stick out of
the terminals. The protection circuit may be activated if the wires
touch the rear panel or if the + and - sides touch each other.
•Use only correctly prepared speaker wires such as those supplied.
•Never touch the terminals while the power supply is connected.
Doing so could result in electric shock.
Cautions on Sound Source
•This amplifier’s protection conductor automatically removes notes
or sounds known to damage the components. At high volume, this
will sound like notes disappearing.
•The gain of the analogue input circuit can be set with the
EMERGENCE User Interface (EUI) software (Available at
www.emergence-direct.com)
Cautions on Power
•If the power supply gets hot, the power management circuit
automatically reduces the volume by 6dB. After 20 interactions, it
turns the power off.
Connect Your System
1. Connect the Acoustic Hologram Generators (AHG).
2. Connect your sound source.
3. Connect the power cord.
