AARCOMM Wireless Kill Switch User manual

Aarcomm’s Wireless Kill Switch Quick Start
Guide provides support for the following items,
included in your Wireless Kill Switch remote
control system:
• Wireless Kill Switch remote
• C220/C200 receiver
• Antenna
• Universal Charging Cradle
• Wiring Harness
POWERING ON THE WIRELESS KILL SWITCH
The Wireless Kill Switch unit requires a special sequence to
power on. This sequence veries that the start and stop buttons
are working correctly prior to operation. It also minimizes any
accidental powering-on of the unit.
To power on the Wireless Kill Switch:
• Press and hold the RED ESTOP/OFF BUTTON.
• Press and hold the GREEN BUTTON.
• Release the RED ESTOP/OFF BUTTON.
• Release the GREEN BUTTON.
• The Wireless Kill Switch will now display a startup screen.
Regular ashing GREEN light: Unit turned on but no radio link to
receiver.
Solid, or quickly ashing GREEN light: Unit is turned on and linked
to a matched receiver.
POWERING OFF THE WIRELESS KILL SWITCH
Pressing the RED ESTOP/OFF BUTTON will shut down the Wire-
less Kill Switch unit. The display in the Wireless Kill Switch will
be put into sleep mode and will not draw power from the battery,
even though there are images being displayed.
MATCHING INSTRUCTIONS
To successfully pair a Wireless Kill Switch with a receiver,
both devices need to enter matching mode within a 60-second
timeframe. The receiver offers two different methods to activate
Wireless Kill Switch
Quick Start Guide
matching mode, while the Wireless Kill Switch has one method
available.
WIRELESS KILL SWITCH MATCHING MODE
• Press and hold the bottom RED BUTTON. The RED light
should begin to ash.
• Press and hold the two left GREY round buttons. The GREEN
LIGHT will turn on and the RED LIGHT will begin to ash
more quickly.
• Release all buttons. The screen will display “Match Mode”
followed by rmware information.
• Next, put the receiver into Matching Mode. After attempting
to match with a receiver, the screen will either change to
“Match Failed” or “Match Passed”.
RECEIVER MATCHING MODE
FIRST METHOD
1. Apply power to the receiver.
2. Momentarily “blip” the power off to the receiver six to
seven times (i.e. power off for 1/2 second, power on
for one second; six times). Leave the power on after the
sixth blip.
3. The Receiver light will turn DEEP BLUE. Once matching
is complete, the light will change to an intense BLU-
ISH-WHITE colour.
SECOND METHOD
1. Apply power to the receiver.
2. Using a smooth motion, wave the Wireless Kill Switch back
and forth over the top left corner of the receiver so that the
two magnets under the RED BUTTON and GREEN BUTTON
pass over the surface of the Aarcomm logo.
3. If the receiver successfully detects the magnets on the Wire-
less Kill Switch, the receiver LED will light up DARK BLUE.
4. Once matching is complete, the light will change to a LIGHT
BLUE/WHITE. the Receiver light will turn DEEP BLUE.
CHARGING THE WIRELESS KILL SWITCH
The Wireless Kill Switch is waterproof and completely sealed to
IP67 rating. For improved reliability, it does not have a removable
battery and is charged using the Charging Cradle. The magnets
on the back of the Wireless Kill Switch are only used for align-
ment and not for electrical contact.
During operation, the RED LIGHT will begin to ash when the
Wireless Kill Switch should be charged. Place the Wireless Kill
Switch on the Charging Cradle to begin charging. The display
will show the charge status; please allow a minute or two for the
charge level to be calculated accurately.
A battery that is completely discharged will take approximately
three hours to charge. The battery can be charged at any time
even if it is not depleted. A quick 30-minute charge will allow the
Wireless Kill Switch to operate for eight hours. A full battery will
last 40 or more hours, depending on the performance setting.
SENSING MODE
Upon start-up, the screen will show the congured sensing
mode (“VERTICAL”, “SLOPE” or “HORIZONTAL”), the message
“Get Ready”, and the congured maximum angle and maximum
acceleration.
The message “Get Ready” will display for 5 seconds, during
which time the wand is not detecting motion. After 5 seconds,
the message will change to “Sensing” – the Wireless Kill Switch
is now monitoring the angle and acceleration for variations ex-
ceeding the congured limits.
CHANGING SENSING MODE
In Vertical mode, the maximum angle is calculated from vertical/
upright. In horizontal mode, the maximum angle is calculated as
the angle from horizontal. In slope mode, the angle is set based
on specied parameters. To switch between Vertical, Slope and
Horizontal sensing modes, press the top two GREY buttons at the
same time. When the mode has been changed, the Wireless Kill
Switch will display “Get Ready” for 5 seconds before resuming
the motion sensing.
N.B. Slope mode’s reference angle is half way between the verti-
cal mode reference and the horizontal mode reference.

C200 & C220 RECEIVER MOUNTING
The C220/C200 is waterproof and IP67 rated but the recom-
mended mounting location should be protected from weather
and vibration.
C200 & C220 WIRE HARNESS INSTALLATION
The C220 & C200 comes with a wire harness specic to your
machine. Fully insert the connector into the bottom of the C220
or C200. For the C220 receiver, tighten the hex screw. Do not over
tighten.
The C200 and C220 receivers are designed to withstand water
and have an impressive IP67 rating. For optimal performance, it
is recommended to select a mounting location that offers protec-
tion from both weather conditions and excessive vibration..
ANTENNA INSTALLATION
The mounting location should be chosen such that the
C200/C220 antenna has the best possible line of sight
with the Wireless Kill Switch in order to maximize the
operating range. The standard antenna mount provided is
an NMO type. It requires a 3/4” hole.
• When installing with a hole saw, remove any burrs,
particularly on the under side of the hole.
• Remove paint in a narrow ring around the hole.
• Metal-to-metal contact between the vehicle and
the mount is essential for best performance.
• An optional L-bracket can also be supplied if it is
not possible to cut a 3/4” hole on the mounting
surface.
Make sure the gold contact on the mount is clean before
attaching the antenna.
For proper antenna contact, the supplied rubber gasket
is required for metal thicknesses ranging from 0.030” to
0.050”. The gasket is not required for thicknesses from
0.050” to 0.100”.
