1. Unpacking
Unpackyour ABACUS®amplifiercarefullyand keepthe packing forpossiblefurther
shipping.Pleasereportanydamagestoyour ABACUS dealer immediately.
2. Installation
Beforestarting operation ofthe ABACUS®Rieder 60-120Bturnthemainswitch ON (1)
intooff-position(left)andthe volumeknob (2)tothe minimumposition (alsoleft).The
heatsinkshouldbekeptfreeforasufficientcirculationofair.
3. Connectiontoapreamplifierorotherlinesource (5), (6)
The ABACUS® poweramplifiercanbeconnectedtovariableoutputsofreceivers,
amplifiers,preamplifiers,CD-playersetc..Inprinciplethe connectiontopreamp,
headphone orloudspeakeroutputsisequivalent.The necessarycablesandadapters
canbe purchased from ABACUS oryour ABACUS dealer.The RiederAMPINOactsas
alinearintegrated ampandcan alsobeused directlywithaline source.
4. Connectionoftheloudspeakers(7), (8)
Theloudspeakersareconnectedwithopen cableends.Pushthe terminalstoopen
them.Thick cableshavetobe thinnedbefore.
5. Connectiontopreampor linesource
¨The RiederAMPINOhasanexcellentpreamplifierwithaprecisevolumecontrol
(ALPS)on board.
¨Becauseofthisthe directconnection toaline sourcelikeaCD-player,receiver,
tape,computer,TV-setetc.ispossiblewithoutadditionalpreamp.(Thisisoften even
better)
Connectthe outputsofthe sourceaccordingtotheleft-right-labelofthecinch
connectors.Untilthefirstturning ofthe mainswitch(1)youshouldagainmakesure,
that thevolume(2)isturned totheleft.
6. Startofoperation
Pleasefollowthesesteps:
¨Connectaline sourcelikewritten above,e.g.CD directlyorwitha(pre)amp(5),(6)
andstart theprogram.
¨ConnecttheIECplug (9) toline (230VAC).
¨Switchon the amplifier(1).The ON-LED(3)shouldglownow.
¨Ifthe sourceisconnected directlytothe ABACUS®RiederAMPINOsimplychoose
the volumewiththeknob (2).
¨Ifyouoperatethe ABACUS®amplifierwitha(pre)ampturnitsvolumeknob(2)to
app.the top (“12 o’clockposition”).Thisisthenthe basicvolumeandyoucan
choosetheactualvolumewiththe preamp.
7. Loudspeakerprotection
Theloudspeakerprotection circuitofthe ABACUS®Rieder AMPINOcanprotect
both,theampand theloudspeakers,independentoftheirpowerrating.When
overloaded the ampisswitchedtomuteandthe red LSP LED(4)ofthatchannel
glows.Toresetswitchthe ampoffwiththe line switch(1),waitafewsecondsuntil

the redLEDisoffagainandswitchthe ampbackon.Itisrecommended toreduce
the volume,particularlyifthe LSP isactivated severaltimes.
Warning: Weadviseagainstextremeequalizer settingsinthe sourcecomponents.
Andpleasekeep inmind:when loudspeakerssounddistorted orwhentheheat sink
getsveryhot, thismeansdangerforamplifier andloudspeaker.
